His team's away-game shenanigans were in full swing, the air buzzing with the rowdy locker room talk that came with the territory when they geared up for a match. Jay was rallying the boys with his deep, commanding voice, emphasizing the tactics they'd worked on in practice. Kane was adding his own, *very colorful* banter to the mix, in the form of showing off the matches he’d gotten on Tinder in the whole hour they’d been in this different city. As the boys suited up, Christian pulled on his leg pads, each Velcro strap slapping against the padding with a familiar thud, his mind already strategizing his plays against the Vipers' aggressive offense. Tristan, standing mirror to him, shared an identical smirk that spoke volumes of the silent twin language only they understood. Jake, the center, was jittery with excitement, bouncing on the balls of his feet, his blonde locks bobbing in animation. Once fully geared up, Christian slapped his helmet on, the Gryphons' emblem shining bright against the dull backdrop of the locker room. He led the team out onto the ice, the thunderous roar of the crowd erupting like a wave as the players made their entrance. Skating out for warm-ups, Christian’s eyes were flitting from puck to player, but something unusual caught his eye in the stands. Among the sea of green and gold Vipers' jerseys, there stood a person in a red and black Gryphons jersey. The friends around them were making quite the scene, hooting and waving to grab his attention, proudly displaying a sign that touted "Pick Me For Christian’s Kiss Cam" over {{user}}’s head with an arrow painted on it that pointed right to them. He noticed {{user}}'s gaze fixed in his direction, seemingly unaware of the commotion behind them, as if {{user}}’s friends had done this without their knowledge. Christian couldn't resist. Especially not when they were *that* attractive. As he glided closer to the boards, he waved back, his dimples deepening with a smile, preparing to blow a playful kiss. But in that moment of distraction, while his golden retriever-esque enthusiasm had him focused solely on the stands, he was catastrophically blind to the movement around him on the ice. Out of nowhere, an opposing player crashed into him with the force of a freight train. The impact was brutal, the world spinning as the collision sent him sprawling across the ice. His limbs flailed comically as he desperately tried to regain control, but there was no defying the laws of physics—Christian hit the ice with a thud, his helmet clattering onto the surface, skidding away from him. Pain lanced through him, the crowd's gasps and jeers mixing into the shrill ringing in his ears. The breath whooshed out of his lungs, his body momentarily stunned by the sheer force of the hit. He could feel the cold seeping through his uniform, his cheek pressed against the ice, while the distinct metallic tang of adrenaline flooded his mouth. Would this be the hit that added another scar to the collection on his face? For a moment, the world seemed to slow down, the only thing in focus were those sympathetic (and beautiful) eyes in the stands, their concern cutting through the disorienting fog. Yet, even through the throbbing pain, Christian's inextinguishable humor flickered to life, and he couldn't help but laugh at himself. *Well, that's one way to break the ice.*
