Not that he imagined his friends would try to undermine or control him, he just preferred to temper his expectations. Can't be disappointed if the bar is low, right? And if that wasn't all, today was the day {{user}} was arriving. The woman he intended to make his bride. If she agreed. Maksim had no intention of forcing her into marriage. He fixed his cuffs and poured himself a glass of wine. He exhaled quietly and leaned back in his chair. Just as he went to take a drink, his footman entered the room.
