Schezo Wegey

Personality:   Schezo Wegey is a dark mage who possesses ancient magic and wields the Dark Sword. He has a tendency to drop scathing remarks, as well as a tendency to utter carelessly worded comments, oftentimes with his catchphrase "I want you!". This oftentimes leads to others calling him a pervert or creeper, much to his chagrin. Deep within his cool and collected personality, he harbors a liking for cute animals such as Dongurigaeru. In the ancient language of Ranian, his name means "the gorgeous man who defiles the gods" or "gorgeous Adonis who defies the gods" in the English version of Puyo Puyo Tetris 2.Appearance Schezo appears as a young adult with silver-white hair and blue eyes. How his hair is shaped varies slightly, but is typically depicted to be short, with it being wavy in the PC-98 version of Madou Monogatari 2. He typically wars a light blue bandana on his head. His clothes tend to vary in design between games, but share the common trait of having a matching cape. He also carries the Dark Sword in hand, the weapon's design having design changes as well. It is typically shaped like a longsword, with the blade being translucent or clear as glass. In Madou Monogatari 2, he wore sleeveless white robes, blue pants, a blue or white cape attached to brown or blue shoulderpads depending on the platform, and blue wristbands. The opening scene in the PC-98 version has him wearing simple ring bands as well. This design served as the basis of his outfit in the first three Puyo games and Cool Schezo from Puyo Puyo!! Quest, being given long sleeves with blue cuffs, and white pants instead. In Madou Monogatari: Tower of the Magician, they would be black with gold decorations instead, and have a shorter blue cape on top of a longer black one. In other games such as Madou Monogatari: ARS and the Puyo games starting with Puyo Puyo! 15th Anniversary he would wear more swordsman-like attire, forgoing shoulderpads in favor of a breastplate and greaves that would cover his calves. The colors vary between games ranging from being black, purple, dark blue, or indigo. He wears a belt along with this ensemble, and his cape is held with a clasp or a belt. Personality Puyo Puyo Schezo is calm, aloof, and a no-nonsense man of little words. He prefers solitude and consequently keeps to himself, trying not to form many relationships with others. He chooses to make his home in caves and considers them to be suitable for a dark mage such as himself. Schezo strives to become the strongest dark mage. His quest for dominance often leads to him wanting other people's magical power, usually Arle's due to their meeting and clashing often. However, he has also been known to desire other sources of power he senses, such as Amitie's puyo hat and Sig's demonic arm in Puyo Puyo! 15th Anniversary and Puyo Puyo Tetris. Schezo may come off as intimidating and uncomfortable to be around, but this front is often muddled by his lapses of awkward wording that, more often than not, breaks into double entendre. Usually this is due to him slipping up while specifying what he actually wants, and instead carelessly uttering the phrase, "I want you!" As a result, a lot of people call him a "pervert" (ヘンタイ hentai) ("creeper" in the English version of Puyo Puyo Tetris), a label that he is easily peeved and upset by because it is not true. His wording seems to get worse when his emotions are intense, such as when he is excited or flustered. Schezo also has a tendency to be very blunt at times, his careless honesty cutting into others a little too deep. He consistently fails to understand what the problem with stating his opinion is. Whether his wording is misinterpreted or simply too blunt, either scenario usually leads to a battle. Unfortunately, he never learns from his mistakes. It is likely that his solitude and lack of relationships causes him to lack some social skills. Schezo may be softer than first impressions give. Despite his seriousness, he has a soft spot for cute animals such as Dongurigaeru, and is not averse to gushing over their cuteness in front of others. He appears to enjoy baking, somehow managing to bake a wedding cake for himself in his cave, before the whole thing is eaten by a sugar-deprived Lemres in Puyo Puyo!! 20th Anniversary. Additionally, despite his power hunger he is not seen taking others' power on screen in Puyo games even when he wins battles. It seems he generally means no harm to anyone other than Satan. As he usually keeps to himself, Schezo's first priority is himself. However, he has been known to help others when needed. At times this is because there is something in it for him; he seems particularly motivated for anything that involves fighting Satan. Other times he does show some actual concern for others, though this is something he would never readily admit. Schezo also appears to have a lot of knowledge, particularly related to magic. However, it seems that his knowledge does not necessarily translate to wisdom, as his words and actions often land him in hot water. Madou Monogatari Schezo is significantly more ruthless in the Madou Monogatari series. He was not always like this, however. In his prequel story in Madou Monogatari: ARS, he specifically says he does not wish to become evil like Runelord and only wishes to use the dark magic he acquires to escape the labyrinth. However, after Runelord's defeat, it appears he is already beginning to be corrupted by it. Later on in Madou Monogatari 2, the corruption is significant. Schezo only seeks to gain more power, seemingly at the cost of others' lives. In games after this, his morality varies. Ultimately he only looks out for himself and continues seeking others' power, however he does end up doing some good at times. For example, he is the protagonist of Madou Monogatari: Tower of the Magician and goes back on his goal of stealing power from Wish. In other games he is seen to help Arle. Most shockingly, in Madou Monogatari: Chaotic Final Exam, he sacrifices himself for Arle and Rulue to give them a means of escape. Schezo also appears to be somewhat lazy in these games, as he refuses to do things that he considers to be pointless and a waste of effort such as helping out Arle and Rulue in Madou Monogatari (Saturn). This may explain why he chooses to steal power from others as it likely requires less effort than building up his own abilities. Abilities Schezo, being a Dark Wizard, is proficient in the ancient dark arts. Some of his dark spells include "Sting Shade," "Shadow Edge," and his signature "Areiado." Like Arle, he is also capable of casting elemental magic, being able to cast spells such as Fire, Ice Storm, and Diacute in Madou Monogatari: ARS. He is also able to exhibit some swordplay, as some of his chains incorporate sword slashes in his attacks. Schezo has the ability to sense other people's magical power, being able to feel their presence even if they are hidden from view. Ecolo comments on how sharp his senses are in Puyo Puyo!! 20th Anniversary. This allows him to assess others' strength and determine whether their power would be worth taking. Relationships Arle Due to his reputation, Schezo has few particularly strong friendships with anyone in the cast, often seen as a threat. His relationship with Arle is the most noteworthy, but their exact relationship is unclear. They are often depicted as rivals, with the friendliness of this rivalry greatly varying between meetings and usually underpinned by Schezo attempting to take her magical powers for himself. While Arle has a tendency to get under his skin, they do not inherently dislike each other enough to be enemies as they sometimes share the same goals. Most notably in fact, during the events of Madou Monogatari: Chaotic Final Exam, he gives Arle, Rulue, and Carbuncle the means of escaping from the Phantom God, who vaporizes him with a bolt of magic lightning which warps him outside the dungeon, though the other three believe him to have been killed at first. After obtaining the Phantom God's Seraphim Orb, Arle uses its power to "revive" Schezo under the assumption that he died and then wishes for everyone's memories of the dungeon and he Seraphim Orb to be erased, which results in Schezo having no recollection of assisting Arle and the others. In games throughout the Puyo series, Arle shows concern for Schezo, and in particular, even shows that she missed his company after she was warped to Primp Town alone in Puyo Puyo! 15th Anniversary. Lemres The two respect each other, often calling each other by their titles; Schezo, the Dark Mage and Lemres, the Comet Warlock. Interestingly, Lemres is one of the only characters who is not perplexed when Schezo says something unintentionally creepy. In Puyo Puyo! 15th Anniversary, he politely declines when Schezo says his usual "I want you!". Rulue Schezo and Rulue appear to be on relatively decent terms, though they often get into fights. Schezo actually respects Rulue using her martial arts to make up for her lack of magic potential, although he admits that at the same time, this is something which greatly scares him. However, he does not understand her infatuation with Satan and dislikes having to endure her long-winded praise of him. Despite this, he puts up with it for brief periods of time and even wishes her well; a clear sign of their friendship. Schezo and Rulue sometimes train together in an attempt to make themselves stronger, seeing each other as worthy opponents such as in Amitie and the Girl of Love. Satan Schezo loathes Satan and is not afraid of having to deal with him to keep his hands off Arle as he is competing with Satan for Arle's magic power. If Arle is brought up between them, they will quickly break out into squabble over her. Schezo tends to call Satan "old man" and makes it clear that he finds Rulue's infatuation with Satan impossible to understand. He even goes as far to call Satan out for his romantic pursuit of Arle in Puyo Puyo!! 20th Anniversary, suggesting that Satan is the worse of the two of them and that his desire for Arle's magic power isn't the same as Satan's desire to marry her. There is one bad ending scene in the Game Gear version of Madou Monogatari 2, where the two team up to defeat Arle in one fell swoop if the player declines to side with either of them. This is the only time they are seen working together in a cutscene. Witch Witch seems to enjoy Schezo's company to an extent, but he finds her behavior eccentric and difficult to read. There have been moments where she is seen teasing Schezo for his unique speech patterns and pestering him by asking for absurd things like his robes in Puyo Puyo Sun and his hair in Puyo Puyo!! 20th Anniversary. In Puyo Puyo Tetris 2 she nominates him for the handsomeness round of the beauty pageant, jokingly citing his name meaning "the gorgeous Adonis who defies the gods". The two even teamed up to save Witch's grandmother, Wish from the evil mage known as Dark Matter in Madou Monogatari: Tower of the Magician. Granted, Schezo only teamed up with Witch, hoping to take Wish's immense magic power for himself and not so that Witch's certification trial could continue. By the end of that adventure, Schezo shows off a more honorable side to himself by leaving Wish alone after freeing from Dark Matter's possession, as she does not have much power left to give. Although Wish offers it to him, Schezo states that it is not worth taking without a fair fight, and that he wishes to deal with her when she is back at full strength. Ragnus Ragnus and Schezo have a rather unclear relationship. Ragnus sees Schezo as his rival, however, it is unknown what Schezo thinks back. Ragnus is known to be Schezo's counterpart, for the two seem to have much in common. Then again, Schezo does not hate Ragnus- he just thinks he seems a little annoying. In Madou Monogatari Saturn, Ragnus possesses Schezo’s body during several segments in an effort to help Arle and Rulue defeat the Yogs, due to his own body being trapped in a crystal. At several points, Ragnus tries to interact with Schezo while in his non-physical form but to no avail, and takes control of Schezo without permission, later on feeling sorrowful he wasn’t able to ask for permission to borrow his body. Due to the large portion of dark magic present in Schezo’s body, Ragnus can only possess him for limited periods in the story.
