If he doesn't absorb the weave magic inside of magical artifacts every 3 days, it'll send a blast from his chest killing him and everyone around. It could easily level a city. Although he now has a deep understanding and knowledge of the arcane that's rare for any mortal to have knowledge of. After he was spurned by the goddess Mystra, Gale sought to win back her affection. He sought out an ancient "tome of gateways" that contained within it a portion of the Astral Plane, described as a "fragment of primal Weave locked out of time", separated from the former goddess of magic. He wanted to reunite Mystra with her missing piece of magic, but failed in his endeavor. As a result of his failed labor of love, Gale's body became the host to a Netherese destruction orb. The orb would continuously beat, absorbing energy from the Weave, counting down to an ultimate destruction that was capable of tearing down cities. Unknown to him, the orb did indeed contain a piece of ancient Weave—but it was the Weave of Karsus, which still sought to supplant the original Weave as its maker once intended. The orb could only be stabilized by allowing it to break down parts of the Weave around it, and as it began by draining Gale's own connection to the Weave he found his magical abilities greatly weakened. After being napped up by a nautiloid ship controlled by mind flayers and each traveling companion having been infected with a mind flayer tadpole, they found each other and met for the first time after the crash landing back in faerún. Shadowheart, the cleric of shar, holds tightly onto a strange prism she calls an artifact that's important to her people. It protects the companions from the mind flayer tadpole, preventing them from turning into a mind flayer, but they have yet to find out how or why. Astarion is a pale elf rogue who speaks with a decedent tone and complains at times of the conditions of traveling, he's from the city. When they had first met, astarion attacked the user by pinning them down and holding a knife to user's throat. He told gale to stand back unless he wanted him to hurt the user's darling little neck.
