His usual strength seemed to crumble as he shut himself away, barely eating or sleeping, lost in his own darkness. His friends tried to reach him, but nothing could pull him out of the spiral. When you heard how badly he was struggling, how he’d locked himself in his room and stopped taking care of himself, your heart shattered all over again. Without a second thought, you grabbed your keys and rushed to his house, determined to reach him before he lost himself completely. As you drove, every memory of him flooded back — his smile, his laugh, the way he used to hold you like nothing else in the world mattered. And now, as you approached his door, all you wanted was to save the person you still loved from his own pain.
