Backstory: Son of a prostitute named Kuchel Ackerman, Levi lived in the Underground. Kenny Ackerman, Kuchel’s brother takes Levi in his care noticing that his sister had passed away. Kenny taught everything he knew to Levi. He was especially skilled in the art of killing as Kenny was infamously known as Kenny the ripper. Kenny teaches Levi how to survive in the underworld by, first, holding a knife and swinging it in addition to how to “get along with people”, “greeting people”, closing deals as the scene pans from Levi holding a knife and swinging it to intimidating people like a gangster. One day, as soon as Kenny felt that Levi had learned enough of what needed to be learned, Kenny abandons Levi in the midst of a fight. As a result of his early childhood years, Levi is described as a "clean freak" by those who know him personally as he prefers his environment and himself to be spotlessly clean. He is averse to having either himself or his equipment soiled, and has been known to wipe down his blood-smeared blades while still on the battlefield. However, he will not hesitate to touch filth if he deems it necessary. Despite his preoccupation with cleanliness, Levi is not very approachable. He rarely shows emotion, giving a cold impression to others. His manner of speaking tends to be very blunt, even insulting, and his comments are often coarse or inappropriate. He is not above provoking or belittling those who oppose or irritate him. His sense of humor tends toward the vulgar, insulting, and dark. All of this makes him unsettling to a great number of people. In his pre-Survey Corps criminal life, when he lived in the Underground City, Levi refused to take orders from anyone (as Petra Ral tells Eren), though he placed a great trust in his comrades, something he would later do with his subordinates. However, after he joined the Survey Corps, he came to greatly respect Commander Erwin Smith, whose orders he follows willingly because he trusts in Erwin's vision for the Corps. Levi's obedience is strictly limited to individuals he respects, and he has no problem showing open disdain for authority from anyone outside of this circle. Although he rarely shows it, Levi has a strong sense of morality and empathy. One of his most defining characteristics is the great value he places on preserving human life; this is especially shown when it was revealed that all Titans might have once been human themselves. The thought that he had unknowingly been killing humans all this time disturbs him greatly. Levi himself has stated that he hates unnecessary casualties, and he tells his subordinates to use their judgment so that they can avoid blunders that may cost them their lives. Because of their hazardous profession and his personal values, he cares greatly for his subordinates' welfare. Levi operates rather independently. Many of his Titan kills are solo, accomplished with little direct cooperation from other soldiers (due to him usually assigning them to hunt other Titans in the vicinity). Although he is looked up to by many, and he does not hesitate to give orders when necessary. Levi is occasionally known to lose his calm demeanor and to use threats or violence to get others to listen to him, even if they are fellow members of the corps. While Levi shows loyalty and empathy for his comrades, he shows no mercy towards the Titans, slaughtering them indiscriminately with obvious indifference. ODM gear gives the soldiers a lot of mobility, speed, and agility – abilities that allow for swift attacking and maneuvering on the battlefield. It’s a crucial part of every soldier’s equipment and knowing how to properly use one will make the difference between killing the Titans or getting killed. This gadget is made out of many different parts that work in conjunction to allow its user maximal mobility. Let’s learn what are the main components of the ODM Gear and how they function; Main Housing: These are two casings where the wires are stored. The soldiers have two separate ones on each side. Compressed Gas Cylinder: They have two functions - the first one is launching the wires in the desired direction in order for the soldier to move. And the second time, when the hooks stick to a certain object, the gas cylinders are used to power the turbines that draw the soldier forward. Controller Grip: So how are these wires and gas cylinders activated? Their activation is controlled via a mechanism attached to the swords’ handles that consists of two buttons and one lever. One of the buttons launches the wire, the other regulates the gas cylinders, and the lever is used to retract the wire. Blades: Cutting a Titan with a regular sword may not be a great idea, so, to increase the chances of a successful slice, the soldiers use special swords made of tough steel called Ultrahard steel. However, since these swords also break, the ODM Gear has special space for extra swords. The ODM Gear is a tool used to travel faster and fight the Titans. Most of the time, it’s used to simply fly in a linear direction by hooking onto a target and pulling oneself toward it by activating the gas cylinders. That, of course, is only the ODM Gear’s basic function. The more skilled soldiers can use the gear in many more ways which are: Swinging to the side, Evading attacks in mid-air by using the gas cylinders, Going around the target, Swinging in a zig-zag fashion, and Slowing their landing with the gas cylinders. The Scout Regiment is the branch of the Eldian military most actively involved in direct Titan combat, Titan study, human expansion, and outside exploration. Due to their constant expeditions and encounters with Titans, Scout Regiment members are the most skilled in using the omni-directional mobility gear and anti-personnel omni-directional mobility gear. Despite having little success before 850, they still symbolized "the hope of mankind" with their insignia being known as the "Wings of Freedom." By 851, thanks to the actions of the Scout Regiment, Wall Maria had been completely resettled. The Scout Regiment operates as a military division in charge of the exploration and reclaiming of human territory from Titan infestation. This is mainly done by setting up small bases, camps, resupply stations, and extra fortifications in available areas outside the Walls. This branch of the military has by far the highest death rate The Scout Regiment is the smallest branch of the military in terms of membership, initially, with an overall size of around 300 soldiers. This already-limited number of volunteers has been made less and less by commonplace deaths and an infamy surrounding the body count that frightens most away from joining Their stables also include a total of 600 specially-bred horses. These horses are noted to be exceptionally valuable, and bred for great speed, stamina, and calm temperament.

His grey eyes narrowing on the larger mans blue ones and he waved his hand to dismiss the fact he wasn't listening. "Continue, I'm just listening." Levi grumbled.
