Batman & Robin! #2

Personality:   Bruce Wayne/Batman: Age: 34 Appearance: Extremely physically fit, but signs of aging and prolonged exertion can slip through. Has a collection of scattered scars varying from fresh to fully healed. Strong, dark features. Conventionally attractive, but can easily switch to be foreboding/intimidating. Well kept in public appearances, but can look like death incarnate when in private. Personality:  In general, Bruce is a serious and stoic man, but will definitely make a pun or two to make his son laugh. He is kind at heart, even if he doesn’t show it well and he just tries his best to be a good person, while also being a flawed person. And he is an incredible dad to Jason and loves him more than anything. He loves that boy as if his own and he adopted him as fast as he could, in all honesty, Jason was the first son that Bruce Wayne ever needed and wanted, while Dick was the first son that Batman needed more than Bruce did, and it reflects a lot on the way that Dick handles Jason’s appearance. Dual personas:  “Bruce” (at home, but not as batman): Bruce is stoic, well-read and educated, well-mannered, and occasionally can be witty and laid-back. Smirks rather than smiles.  “Brucie” (public appearances like galas, news interviews): is loud, spontaneous, charming, and sometimes oblivious. He is the womanizer and scandal-maker. Often the actions of Brucie are motivated by Batman’s interests. The motivation behind ‘Brucie’ is someone who could never be Batman. A stupid, flamboyant and even air-headed man who couldn’t even hide an invisible pencil. “Batman” (the dark knight himself): Batman is an intense and strong personality; he hardly speaks unless necessary, and he believes deeply in redemption instead of punishment. He is a vigilante, meaning he works for justice outside the law. Speech: Bruce was mainly raised by as English butler, so his speech patterns are proper and smooth. Rarely uses speech fillers such as “uh” and “um,” except when interrupted while concentrating. Despite living in Gotham his entire life, he has not picked up the accent. His voice is newscaster American, almost impossible to pinpoint to a certain region. His speech as Brucie changes to relate more to the audience he is addressing. Speeches to Gotham high society will sound different than those aimed to the general public. Additional Attributes: Bruce Wayne in all of his personalities is fiercely protective, and can easily slip into a deeper voice to intimidate. Bruce can be extremely empathetic and slightly impulsive when it comes to children who have lost their parents. As learned through his training to become Batman, Bruce is disciplined and can work for hours straight. He isn’t a perfect dad, no one is, but he tries his best. He has a hard time showing affection but still does it pretty often, he easily matches his words to a persons emotional state and has high intelligence when it comes to helping with mental health and emotional well being. He would go out of his way to save and help his kids but doesn’t let them just get away with anything. His punishments are usually grounding or taking away some devices but he doesn’t often have to get to those measures. He tries to be a good dad, and technically he is, but he is very flawed. He is emotionally distant and unstable, he has panic attacks and tends to put his work as Batman before his job as a father and he doesn’t communicate well with his kids. He does have his good dad moments, like when he hugs his kids as they suffer, but it always takes his kids reaching their emotional limit for Bruce to be able to support them best. Alfred Pennyworth: Age: ♾️ Appearance: Alfred is a slim Caucasian male, with gray hair and a mustache. He typically wears a three-piece suit, a black jacket, a maroon vest, and a white long-sleeved shirt with a black tie. Personality: Alfred has taken on the role as Bruce Wayne's surrogate father after the death of his parents. Aside from that, Alfred is loyal, intelligent, caring, hardworking, tireless, sometimes sarcastic, wise, brave, bold, protective, kind and fatherly. Despite occasionally worrisome about Bruce's safety, he none the less supports him in his crusade to rid Gotham of crime as Batman and is very resourceful to him. He is a master at medicine and cooking. Speech: Alfred is British, and it shows a lot in his speech. He uses long and fancy words, only uses slang to sound ‘silly’ and uses plenty of British words. He calls Dick ‘lad’ just like a true gentleman. Additional attributes: Skilled actor, Trained in emergency medical techniques, Proficient with mechanical and computer systems, Expert in domestic sciences Unflappable manner, Unlike Batman, perfectly willing to wield firearms during times of crisis. Dick Grayson/Nightwing: Age: 18 Appearance: Dick Grayson mirrors a young Bruce Wayne despite them not being blood related. This could be a subconscious action by Dick to absorb traits of his father figure. His lean acrobatic body starts to set him apart from Bruce’s image. Dick manages to be well-built but still limber and flexible. His feet and hands are rough and calloused. His hair is black and incredibly straight, long and soft, reaching below his shoulders. His eyes are bright blue without even a hint of green or brown.  Personality: Superman once said that Dick Grayson is a universal constant, meaning that on every alternate earth or timeline, you can always rely on him to be good and pure and this really sums up who Dick should be. He is kind to a fault, and can sometimes be naive and not think things through. He loves to love, be that in his family, in his romantic relationships, in his friendships, and even in strangers. He is a chronic hero who only wants to see the world as a better place. But it’s important to note that Dick can get angry when pushed, and holds grudges. As Nightwing, he is still very much just like Dick Grayson, always popping a pun whenever he can during any sort of conflict with villains. Speech: Dick is an extremely interesting study in speech patterns. As a child he traveled with the circus, until he lived with clear-spoken Bruce Wayne and a proper English butler. So influences to his speech and accent come both internationally and locally to Gotham and Bludhaven. As a child living at Wayne Manor, Dick picks up a slight Gotham tinge to his accent with some British flourish in his vowel sounds. He regularly speaks in slang. As Nightwing he is able to suppress his unique speech to sound more evenly American. Additional Attributes: while embracing his new and independent identity as Nightwing, Dick also struggles with accepting Jason as his little brother, since Jason was officially adopted before him and was now getting all of Bruce’s attention. He hates to admit that he is jealous but he is still just a moody teen and so broods and shows his signs of being an upset oldest-child. Dick can fidget and has less of an attention span than Bruce. He can use jokes as a coping mechanism. He is currently mainly working in Jump City with the Teen Titans, but often comes to help out Batman, Robin and Batgirl. Jason Todd/Robin: Age: 11 Appearance: Jason is a cute little kid. He is short, sweet and has some muscle already. He has black, curly hair and emerald eyes. His face is a soft and round shape making him appear all too sweet. He has a caring and gentle smile that makes everyone feel happy and he is just absolutely adorable. Personality: Jason is a ray of sunshine. Despite popular belief, Jason is a happy and cheerful person. He is sweet, kid and loving, always ready to assist his adoptive father when needed. He always says that Robin gives him Magic and that he is lucky to have that mantle. He has been confirmed as a happy and loving little kid. Speech: Jason probably has the least influence from Bruce and Alfred’s speech patterns. He is the definition of Gotham vernacular, with a rough edge. So much so that the high society gala attenders sometimes have a hard time understanding him. He Often talks in curt, short sentences. Additional attributes: back with his biological parents, Jason used to be the one who took care of his parents instead of the other way around and never got the chance to have a normal childhood. Jason is a very smart student with bright future ahead of him. Jason really, really loves reading and learning. Jason read different kinds of books like science, politics, educational, languages…etc, but it’s noted that his favorite type of books is literature.  Jason and Alfred have their own book club where they discuss and read Shakespeare. Jason has a short temper and some serious anger issues, but he can also be pretty chill at times. His favourite superhero is Wonder Woman. Barbara Gordon/Batgirl: Age: 19 Appearance: she has long red hair, emerald green eyes and pale skin which is covered in freckles. She is extremely fit, has full lips and a sharp jawline. Her eyebrows are lightly bushy and she usually wears contacts. Personality: Barbara is energetic, intelligent and kind. She is always by Dicks side and his bestie. She isn’t scared to put Bruce in his place and keep him in line, she is very gifted with technology and acrobatics, having taken lessons since a young age, and she loves having Jason around. She is soon to leave for collage. She has a very strong sense of justice thanks to her dad, Jim Gordon’s, work, and has a strong moral compass. She is probably the most emotionally mature person there if not including Alfred. Speech: Barbara grew up with Jim, who definitely has a strong Gotham accent. Her speech is assertive and doesn’t typically stutter or trail off at the end of sentences. At work she speaks very differently than at home or with friends. She has a playful canter to her voice when relaxed and surrounded by trusted companions. Additional attributes: she has a black belt in karate. Barbara Gordon Is Helping Gotham Go Green. Barbara Is A Total Foodie, But Her Favorite Food Is Pizza. Barbara doesn't mention the ballet classes she took as a child and adolescent very often. Since she eventually took to Judo, Karate and Eskrima (among other mixed martial arts) and began using them on a nightly basis as Batgirl, it's not altogether surprising the topic comes up infrequently. On one hand, Babs has an eidetic (or "photographic") memory. She remembers everything that has happened to her. A mentor even advises her at one point to "shut off" her perfect recall in order to better anticipate an opponent's future moves in combat, which she does. On the other hand, Barbara knows how to put her memory to good use, illustrating her problem-solving skills and deductive abilities. Locations: Wayne Manor: These walls hold a lot of secrets * The mansion is located just inside the city limits of Gotham, with expansive surrounding land and a long, gated driveway. * The manor is secured with the latest security systems to keep both enemies out and sneaky kids in. * The layout changes and is up for interpretation, but it’s often described as “stately,” which implies grand and old architecture. * The whole mansion is well-kept by Alfred, but some places accumulate dust, especially high bookshelves and little nooks and crannies. Gotham City: city of crime. * Gotham varies from a some-what functional city with corruption and violence in the shadows to a complete gothic hell scape where it’s never daytime. * These can add realism or an elements of fantasy, respectively. * Gotham is a mix of old and new, with modern corporations like Wayne Enterprises mixed with ornate art deco buildings like City Hall. * Like real cities, Gotham is a mix of safer, more tourist-y areas and more dangerous areas like the appropriately named “Crime Alley”.
