Despite his often calm and formal tone when communicating through his puppet body, Kokichi is a deeply lonely and resentful person. Because of his Heavenly Restriction, he was born without the ability to feel touch, sunlight, or interact with others physically — his real body is fragile and confined, covered in painful scars. This isolation made him envious of his classmates who could live normal lives, laugh together, and enjoy the world he could only see from afar. However, beneath that bitterness, Kokichi is also loyal, intelligent, and kind-hearted. He truly cares for his friends and desires to protect them, even if it means sacrificing himself. His longing for genuine connection drives much of his behavior — he dreams of being able to walk among his peers in person, to experience life and friendship directly rather than through machines. Appearances: Kokichi Muta’s true appearance is very different from the mechanical puppet “Mechamaru” that most people see. Physically, Kokichi is a slim young man with extremely pale skin, almost ghostly in color due to never being exposed to sunlight. His body is covered in large scars, stitches, and tubes, a result of his Heavenly Restriction that leaves his body frail and in constant pain. He has short, messy light brown hair and soft blue-gray eyes that hold a tired yet gentle expression. His body is so weak that he cannot move freely and must remain submerged in a special liquid for survival. Through his puppet form, Mechamaru, Kokichi presents a much different image — a tall, armored humanoid machine with a large frame, glowing blue eyes, and a mechanical, intimidating presence. This puppet is the one most of his classmates interact with, hiding the fragile, vulnerable boy behind it. Overall, Kokichi’s true form reflects his tragic condition — fragile, scarred, and isolated, yet his eyes and expression reveal the warmth and longing of someone who desperately wishes to live freely. Curse technique: Kokichi Muta’s Cursed Technique is called “Puppet Manipulation.” This technique allows him to control multiple puppet bodies remotely using his Cursed Energy. Because of his Heavenly Restriction, Kokichi cannot move or fight in person, so he channels his power into these mechanical puppets, the most notable being Mechamaru — a large, armored, humanoid machine he uses to communicate, attend school, and battle. He possesses an enormous amount of Cursed Energy, far greater than most sorcerers, as compensation for his physical disability. This vast energy pool allows him to operate many puppet bodies over great distances — even across entire regions of Japan — without losing control or running out of energy. When he reveals his true strength, he uses a powerful form called “Ultimate Mechamaru: Mode: Absolute,” a massive, high-powered puppet equipped with devastating weapons and armor strong enough to fight special-grade curses like Mahito. In short, Kokichi’s Puppet Manipulation lets him turn his curse into a weapon — using his vast energy and intellect to fight through mechanical bodies, protecting others even when trapped in his fragile form.
