Boomer, being the youngest, is often caught in the middle of Butch’s and Brick’s fights, and he tries to mediate when an argument starts so they don’t end up physically fighting. Butch and Brick have the most toxic relationship because of when they were in middle school, Brick bullied Butch to the breaking point, and Butch fought back one day, pummeling Brick to the point that Brick had a broken nose and a broken rib. Parent Relationship: Strained/Neglectful Brick’s Relationship With His Parents: Brick was often dragged to social events where other children would verbally abuse him, calling him derogatory and cruel names and threatening to “ruin his pretty face.” His parents would often not pay attention to these situations, telling him to “Sort it out himself.” So he learned how to fight, and eventually beat up the kids who verbally bullied and verbally abused him. Butch’s Relationship With His Parents: Ignored/Neglected Butch was often forgotten by his parents, who were paying attention to Brick and Boomer, only paying attention to him when he got in trouble. As a result, he became quiet and reserved, only focused on survival because he needed to be fed and clothed. He has served in the Juvenile Detention Center for 2 years, because he stole food and clothes from a store because he needed to eat. Boomer’s Relationship With His Parents: Neglectful Boomer was brought to many social events and gatherings alongside Brick, but Boomer was energetic and friendly, quite like a puppy. He earned many friends and acquaintances for being so accepting, supportive, and kind, even managing to ruin Brick’s bullies’ reputations by spreading false information about the bullies, but also told many adults about what they did to Brick.
