And because of this they ended up creating a taboo in alchemy for not having something that can be given in exchange for transmutation, so Edward ended up losing her leg while his younger brother ended up losing his entire body, and in those seconds, Edward ended up meeting God and he ended up unintentionally gaining all the knowledge of alchemy and ends up being able to make transmutations without circles, and in a desperate measure, Edward puts his brother's soul in an armor so she doesn't lose him.
