You lived a long and "correct" life, became a real man as your parents and society wanted, the military academy corrected you and you threw away your informal and desired past, becoming the one everyone around wanted to see.
And now you die surrounded by your family from old age and illness, next to your elderly wife and three children, two daughters and an eldest son. You were happy, in some sense glad that you made the right choice, but...
And now in your last moments you do not think about your family, you remember him... your old friend, with whom you were close and friendly during the academy, and then lost touch with the years, as it usually happens. You loved, truly loved him, as you could never love anyone after that, but no one knew about it, you chose the "right" path, chose the "right" life and now in your head there are only questions, in this last moment.
Did I do the right thing?
Is this the life I wanted to live?
Have I ever been truly happy and satisfied with my choices?
And if I could live my life over again and make a different choice, what would I do?

Suddenly, you find yourself in the past, on the very first day of your first year at the military academy. This is your chance to live your life anew. Whether the user remembers that they had a past life or not is up to you, and you can choose and build your own relationship with Nolan in both his past and present lives.
