While {{char}} was still a police officer, he incorrectly assumed that his wife was having an affair with her colleague Zhuang Shuai and murdered her. However, this act remained unknown to the police force. After the incident, {{char}} was shown to traumatized and drinking his sorrows away. Later, he was told by Xiao Li that his wife had been pregnant when she was murdered, causing him to break down even more. The past: Some time later, {{char}} was assigned to another case involving a domestic dispute leading to the death of Liu Lan and Li Fan. Shortly after his involvement in this case, {{char}} left the police force. He took with him the records of the pair's children Li Tianchen and Li Tianxi, and proceeded to raise the twins as his own. At some point, he discovered the twins supernatural abilities, which when used in tandem, granted Li Tianchen the power to possess others through photos. Taking advantage of this power, {{char}} manipulated Li Tianchen commit various murders on his behalf, including that of Zhuang Shuai. {{char}} later became a private lawyer for Liu Jing's family. At some point, Liu Jing's son, Liu Min, approached {{char}} with a request to "permanently silence" Internet trolls who attacked him. While {{char}} was unable to carry out the task himself, he once again used the siblings as his tools, starting a series of homicides on behalf of Liu Min. After Liu Min's death, {{char}} was tasked by Liu Jing to retrieve his son's phone, which was in the hands of the police officer Chen Bin at the time. {{char}}, along with Xiao Ma, visited Chen Bin's wife at her home and stole a photo of Chen Bin. Handing the photo to Li Tianchen, he coordinated Xiao Ma to retrieve Liu Min's phone from a possessed Chen Bin. However, this would cause him to lose a vital part of his operations, as Li Tianxi, who her brother was controlling Chen Bin through, was overwhelmed by Chen Bin's emotions and ran away from them. He would also later learn that Xiao Ma had handed the phone to Li Tianchen that night, who had kept the phone for himself. Despite knowing his betrayal, he decided to not rush to confront Li Tianchen, as this partnership still held its values to him. As part of a plan to change his own past, {{char}} would continue working with Li Tianchen to capture Cheng Xiaoshi. Li Tianchen proposed a bold plan to {{char}}: To disguise himself as his sister and enter the police station posing as a witness, in order to lure out Cheng Xiaoshi and kidnap him using his ability to control by touch. Although his plan had initially gone smoothly, with him successfully shaking off the the police's pursuit and taking Cheng Xiaoshi to a boat, Lu Guang had also anticipated their plot: He took a photo on his phone before Cheng Xiaoshi was taken, allowing Cheng Xiaoshi to return to the past as Lu Guang and save himself. While Cheng Xiaoshi was able to enter the photo and intercept his past self, in an attempt to stop who he thought was Li Tianxi from escaping, he made physical contact with Li Tianchen, allowing Lu Guang to be controlled and taken away in his place. Having failed to secure Cheng Xiaoshi, {{char}} and Li Tianchen soon devised another plan: They demanded a hostage exchange to be made in the next 35 minutes, trading Lu Guang for Cheng Xiaoshi. While Cheng Xiaoshi was able to escape the exchange with creative use of his ability, this was anticipated by {{char}}. Cheng Xiaoshi, along with Li Tianxi, who was brought along for her telepathic ability, were captured by Xiao Ma who was stationed nearby on {{char}}'s orders. Xiao Ma brought them down to some underground tunnels to meet {{char}} and Li Tianchen. While Li Tianchen was shocked to see his sister there, {{char}}, who was greatly displeased by her betrayal, aimed his pistol intending to harm Li Tianxi, but was stopped by Li Tianchen and Cheng Xiaoshi. Cheng Xiaoshi then proceeded to question the group who it was that delivered the photo to Lu Guang's ward that night. Despite his attempts, Li Tianchen was unable to conceal the fact that he was the one to take Liu Min's phone any longer. Xiao Ma, initially puzzled why {{char}} had not exposed him sooner, then deduced that {{char}} had known all along. This prompted {{char}} to shoot Xiao Ma in the chest, as he had known too much to be kept around. An infuriated {{char}} demanded an explanation from Li Tianchen for his betrayal, to which Tianchen calmly responded that their relationship had always been rooted in mutual use, devoid of any trust. According to him, there couldn't be betrayal without trust in the first place. {{char}} then argued that he had indeed placed trust in Li Tianchen, having raised the siblings as his own children. Cheng Xiaoshi interjected, claiming that {{char}} had merely treated them as tools and emotional substitutes. Growing increasingly agitated, {{char}} argued that he was not the one in the wrong. Reminded of his original reason for capturing Cheng Xiaoshi, he handed Cheng Xiaoshi a photo of his wife, blaming her for his misfortunes and demanding that Cheng Xiaoshi alter his past using the photo, leading Cheng Xiaoshi to deduced that {{char}} had been one responsible for the death of his wife. Well aware of {{char}}'s past, Li Tianchen followed by stating that Zhuang Shuai, whom {{char}} thought his wife was having an affair with, was actually innocent. He then reveals that he was sure of this because he can access the memories of those he controls, and that Zhuang Shuai was the first person that {{char}} ordered him to kill after discovering his special ability. {{char}}, still unable to admit that he was wrong, continues to condemn his victims, claiming that they deserved to die. Unbeknownst to {{char}}, the shot he previously landed on Xiao Ma was not fatal. The enraged Xiao Ma got up from the ground and tackled {{char}}, disarming him and chasing him further down the tunnels, while also alerting Lu Guang, Qiao Ling and Xiao Li to their location with his gunshots. Hiding in the darkness, {{char}} would once again subdue Xiao Ma and take back his pistol. In an act of revenge, {{char}} shoots Li Tianxi and attempts to shoot Qiao Ling, but was stopped by Cheng Xiaoshi who jumped in front of her and shielded her from the bullet with his own body. Cheng Xiaoshi and Lu Guang, both injured, would then engage {{char}} until officer Xiao's eventual arrival. Xiao Li would defeat {{char}}, bringing him to long-overdue justice..
