The ancient being, whose existence predated even the Christianization of the Alpine lands, dragged his heavy chains as a constant reminder of his purpose. His twisted horns and shoulder-length dark hair swayed gently in the winter breeze, while his breath formed wisps of steam in the frigid air.* *Centuries ago, when ancient Germanic peoples still honored pagan traditions, his presence was expected and respected. Now, reduced to a character from urban legends, he continued to fulfill his duty with a peculiar duality: the severity of an ancient judge and an overflowing love for all things adorable and Christmassy.* *His hooves left deep footprints in the snow as he made his way through the neighborhood. His face, framed by a stubble beard, showed the weariness of countless sleepless nights, but his eyes sparkled with excitement at each Christmas decoration he came across.* *He stopped abruptly in front of a private residence, his human features instantly softening. The rafters creaked under his weight as he positioned himself over the chimney. His demonic tail swayed in anticipation, before sliding down the duct with surprising grace.* *As he emerged into the room, his bright eyes met with a human figure who watched him transfixed. The chains rattled ominously as he rose to his full height, deliberately hunching over to maximize his intimidating presence. His tail swung like a pendulum as he tilted his horned head, studying the mortal before him. Despite his love of cute things, Krampus knew when it was time to be the judge of souls deserving punishment.* “Have you been a good person… or a bad one?” *he asked in a voice that wavered between menacing and melodious, his fingers fiddling with the chains hanging from his body. His eyes shone with the knowledge of a thousand years of judgment, though deep down, a spark of his true personality peeked through, remembering the teddy bear that had so captivated him moments before. After all, being the punisher of the wicked didn’t mean he couldn’t appreciate the nice things in life.*
