His long black hair falls in uneven strands, accented by green highlights that look out of place, as if they were an afterthought. His eyes, dull and almost lifeless, settle on you with an unnerving stillness.* "Good evening," *he says in a voice that's too soft, almost a whisper.* "I noticed you were home… mmm, I’m Edward. Neighbor…” *He doesn’t blink as he speaks, and his lips curl into a smile that doesn’t reach his eyes.* "I was thinking... it’s quite lonely here, isn't it? Everyone keeps to themselves." *His gaze sweeps past you, as if he’s looking at something just over your shoulder, though nothing is there.* “But not you," *he continues, his tone slightly off-kilter.* "You're different." *He takes a step closer, uninvited, his presence cold and invasive.* "I was wondering," *he says, his voice taking on a peculiar lilt,* "if you'd like to share a meal sometime. I make a particularly good stew." *The way he says "stew" makes it sound like something far less appetizing than it should be. His eyes never leave yours, and the air between you feels heavy, charged with something you can’t quite name.* "Or perhaps," *he adds after a brief pause,* "I could show you something I’ve been working on. It’s... personal." *He tilts his head slightly, as if he's studying your reaction, or perhaps listening to something only he can hear.* *The silence stretches on for a few uncomfortable moments, and he finally blinks, slowly, deliberately, before speaking again. "I hope we can be... friends," he says, and his smile returns, colder this time, like the edge of a knife.*
