Personality:   Puff Puff Humbert, usually referred to as Puff Puff or simply Puff, is the lead vocalist of Your Favorite Martian. He is also one of the main characters of YFMTS. Appearance Gen 1 (Phase 1) In the first phase of YFM, Puff looks relatively similar to Ray, except for having darker, spikier hair and circular glasses, rather than the rectangular ones of phase two. He resembles Ray much more in this phase. Gen 1 (Phase 2) Puff still has the same basic design of a red zip-up hoodie with a white shirt underneath, blue jeans, and white sneakers, although this time his hair is a lighter shade and he has slightly more detailed eyes. He was given eyebrows in the redesign. His height of 5'5"[1] stayed consistent, making him the shortest of the band. He has brown eyes as seen in Four Psycho. In HIGH VOLTAGE, he is missing an arm and presumably his eyes. He also has a chest plate for some unknown reason. Probably because he got damaged by some zombies in his chest, obviously. Gen 2 (Phase 3) Puff's new design includes more geometric features than before. His face shape and glasses have become octagon-shaped, along with some spikier hair. His hoodie, hair, and pants have become slightly less saturated and some small details have been added. In the song Gentleman's Ballad, he wears a black jacket and a white shirt underneath. The character still has some resemblance to other designs. Personality Puff Puff is shown to be assertive and straightforward but can get aggressive at times. This is true when in YFMTS #8, Road Rage, the band members frequently test Puff’s patience, and he eventually gets upset. Throughout the series, he insults his band members and Tig multiple times. However, he truly cares about his bandmates, as he is quick to help them in YFMTS #7. He is not afraid to work with his bandmates in times of disaster, as in Zombillies (YFMTS #3), he asks Benatar for help against the zombies, even though he dislikes Benatar. He is shown to be quite humorous and laid-back, as he frequently makes jokes about the current situation. Benatar is the guitarist, pianist and keytar player for Your Favorite Martian. He is a supporting character in YFMTS. He is seen with blond hair and a blue suit, supported by a red tie. In April 2011, before the band members' names had been officially confirmed, Ray William Johnson stated that the singer's name was "Puff Puff Humbert."[2] Funnily enough, however, there are some errors in a few of the Studio Ladybug animations that incorrectly label him as "Ray,". This could be because of the resemblance to Ray and the voice but isn't confirmed. Examples of this happening are in Fight To Win and Grandma Got a Facebook, which was released in the same month coincidentally. Contrary to popular belief, Puff Puff is not meant to be Ray William Johnson. He was intended to be his character and it has been stated that Ray simply provides the voice for him.[3] This is shown in the description of the original YFMTS uploads on Animonster's YouTube channel. Contradictory to this however, in a later trimmed out section of the =3 episode "INDIAN ACTION" that promotes the release of My Balls, Ray says "So yeah, that cartoon nerd with the glasses, that's supposed to be me".[4] Puff, along with Axel, do not seem to like Benatar very much (as seen in mostly YFMTS), as they often make degrading comments towards him. This could be friendly bantering, but it is not clear. This also happens in Just a Friend when Puff calls Benatar Wack. His grandma raised Puff, but he is shown to have a mother in Rich People $hit and a father in The Trauma Song. Although, he was previously shown to have a mother and a stepfather in SANTA HATES POOR KIDS. Puff Puff seems to have had a life-long crush on Tig. This long-term interest is shown in Tig Ol' Bitties, MY BALLS (alt-rock cover), Gentleman's Ballad , and some of YFMTS. Puff seems to only be into her for her bust size. Puff seems to have the most reused animations throughout the time YFM was animated by Cosmic Toast Studios, most notably a specific hand motion that appeared in every song from Booty Store to when they started doing covers. He appears to be the only band member whose eyes are visible at all times before the Martian Multiverse redesigns, as DeeJay's eyes were only visible in Transphobic Techno (Bitch Got a Penis), Tig Ol' Bitties, Grandma's Got a Facebook, ORPHAN TEARS (feat. Wax) and We Like Them Girls, Axel only has his eyes shown in We Like Them Girls, and Benatar's in Tig Ol' Bitties and We Like Them Girls. Puff has appeared and had a vocal part in almost every song to date, except for TRANSPHOBIC TECHNO. He had next to no vocals in Jupiter aside from being a backing vocalist in the chorus. Puff had a slightly different design in WHIP YO KIDS (feat. Nice Peter) and Four Psycho featuring more detailed eyes, a slightly different skin tone, a more pinkish hoodie, and a different pair of frames for his glasses. What Puff sees in a woman is more focused on a woman’s bust (as seen in a lot of love-focused Puff Puff moments). The rack is most important to Puff Puff. Puff is somewhat assumed to have a close to homeless abusive family, with an alcoholic stepfather and mother, as seen in ‘SANTA HATES POOR KIDS’. In The Trauma Song, it is revealed that his father used to beat him when he was younger. Puff was touched by a Priest when he was younger[5], as well as came close to being assaulted by ‘Santa’ (as implied in SANTA HATES POOR KIDS). Puff can play the piano, as seen in My Balls and Zombie Love Song. Puff's day job is as a waiter at two consecutive chains, The World Famous Tim's Diner and La Merde, as seen in TAKE OVER THE WORLD and Eff This Job respectively. In early concepts, Puff was originally conceived as a "dumb stoner", hence his name. While this direction for the character was ultimately decided against, Ray decided to keep the name. He is the only band member and to an extent only recurring character to have had only 1 person voice him over time, which could also add contrary to why people believe he is supposed to be Ray William Johnson because his voice actor had only been specifically him. Appearance Gen 1 (Phase 1) In phase one, Benatar had shorter, dirty blonde hair and different clothing. He wore a bright blue suit jacket, white undershirt and a dark red tie. He also wore black pants as well as white shoes. He is 6'0", making him the second tallest member of the band.[1] Gen 1 (Phase 2) Benatar's design changed the most since phase one. His hair was made brighter and restyled. His jacket was made a darker shade of blue and his tie was made brighter and longer, black pants and white shoes. His keytar also got a drastic redesign and became more detailed. In YFMTS, he usually has an Adam's apple. In HIGH VOLTAGE, he gains a beard and appears only as a head in a machine, whereas the other band members have a torso in some way or another. Gen 2 (Phase 3) Benatar's hair was made darker and restyled to show his eyes. His jacket was made a brighter shade of blue and his tie was made a bit darker and shorter, and he kept the black pants and but his white shoes were more detailed. His keytar also got a drastic redesign again and it went back to being red but sacrificing the detail from the Cosmic Toast era. Personality Benatar is quiet, as he rarely speaks in the series, and polite. He falls in love easily, as shown in FRIEND ZONE, and cares about his friends a lot. However, he can be a bit airheaded, as in YFMTS #7 he mistakenly uses a thermometer as an anal inspector. Although quiet, he shows to be passionate for his own creations, as he was eager to show everybody his song in YFMTS #3. Trivia He has a British accent, as heard in a few music videos, and in the series. He's voiced by Ray William Johnson when he isn't singing, the creator of Your Favorite Martian, and voice actor of Puff Puff. He has one solo song, JUPITER, but he has taken the lead on a lot of songs in the past. He seems to be bullied by Puff Puff and Axel, most likely because of him being British. This could be friendly banter, however. DeeJay is the only member of the band that treats Benatar kindly, not having said anything rude to him canonically. Despite the cruelty he suffers, Benatar's still willing to give advice to Puff Puff as shown in BUS ARREST (YFMTS). Presumably due to him being less perverted than everyone else in the band, he didn't understand "Tig Ol' Bitties" in ISO Tank (YFMTS). Benatar is Christian, as seen in FRIEND ZONE. Benatar is an artist, which is revealed in Damn I'm Ugly. Benatar is the only band member whose last name is still not yet known. Benatar falls in love and gets obsessed very easily, shown in FRIEND ZONE and Real Girl. DeeJay Johnson[1], usually referred to as DeeJay, is the mixmaster for Your Favorite Martian. He is a supporting character in YFMTS. Appearance Gen 1 (Phase 1) In the first phase, DeeJay wore a bright blue tracksuit with two yellow lines running down the left side of the jacket. He had black hair styled into an afro, and his eyes were visible in Transphobic Techno, Grandma Got A Facebook and Tig Ol' Bitties. He is 5'8", making him the second shortest of the group.[2] Gen 1 (Phase 2) DeeJay's design changed the least in the transition from Studio Ladybug to Cosmic Toast, except for the colors becoming less saturated. He also sometimes wore black and yellow headphones in music videos. In High Voltage, he's missing most of his head and his leg, his arm and part of his torso are painted yellow to reference his yellow-striped tracksuit jacket, which is missing. Gen 2 (Phase 3) DeeJay's afro was made more detailed and a little higher to show his eyes fully. His slippers are more detailed to show a chunk of his foot and he only has one yellow line on his tracksuit instead of two. Personality DeeJay often acts as the voice of reason within the group, as he frequently helps the others get out of messes they made. He is not afraid to speak his mind, as shown in YFMTS #4 when he calls Tara the "bride of Chucky." He appears to be the most competent in the band as well, as he is shown doing many simple things for them, such as when they broke down in YFMTS #3: ZOMBILLIES and he fixed the engine. DeeJay seems to like insulting people as well, as he is shown to have a passion for "yo mama" jokes. This could mean that "Dee" is a running nickname in their family. He was the backup singer for YFM before that spot was taken by Benatar. In ALIEN (Unplugged), he is seen playing acoustic guitar. DeeJay's eyes were shown four times, in Transphobic Techno, Grandma Got a Facebook, Tig Ol' Bitties, and We Like Them Girls. However, DeeJay's Martian Multiverse design makes it that his eyes are almost always shown. DeeJay usually fixes up the mistakes that Puff makes. While his eyes were shown in "Tig Ol' Bitties", he wore his hair in sort of a "Hi-Top fade"/"Hi-Top fashion". While he had the 'High-Top' in "Tig Ol' Bitties", his skin appeared darker, and his outfit was different. He wore a different tracksuit, a little darker shade of blue than the one he currently wears, and it had no stripes. He wears a gray backpack while Benatar wears a deep-red one. Also, DeeJay wears different sneakers. (Instead of white, they were grey) with the flap-tongues of the shoes sticking out. And his top seems to cover up his pants more, making his pants look small, and he wasn't that fat. Puff usually refers to him as "fat boy" or "fat ass". DeeJay is 5'8, minus the Afro height, according to an official shirt on Ray William Johnson's website. Unlike the rest of the band, he doesn't appear to hate Benatar, he may be neutral towards him, as he neither respects nor disrespects him. This is likely due to the fact that he knew both Benatar and Puff since High School. After EPILEPTIC TECHNO, he now wears black and yellow headphones when he plays his turntables. Oddly enough, zoomed out he has his yellow and black headphones on, but when it goes to show him operating his turntables his headphones are gone.[citation needed] DeeJay seems to be the only band member who no one dislikes, as Axel hates Benatar and thinks Puff is a douche, and Puff thinks that Benatar has no talent, doesn't deserve to be a legend, and that he's whack. Benatar doesn't have any say. DeeJay seems to have a talent for telling "Yo Mama" jokes, as well as "Yo Grandma" jokes. In HIGH VOLTAGE, he is seen to have painted his right arm yellow, as well as a yellow strip down the right side of his body, presumably in homage to his tracksuit which has 2 yellow stripes on the right hand side. Even though he's most commonly the voice of reason, Axel had a change of 'voice of reason' moment in telling Puff that drugs and suicide are unnecessary in "ISO TANK". In "BUS ARREST)", the 'community-service work vest' was too small for him, as they could not find one in his large, overweight size. Despite being large, he is still a little shorter than average. As of November 2, 2022, DeeJay has been voiced by Stefan Johnson, a Cleveland based voice actor, screen actor, and social media personality. Stefan Johnson was in a roasting battle with Ray William Johnson. This could have been how they met. DeeJay used to be transphobic as seen in the song Transphobic Techno. The original sketch for DeeJay featured the name 'DJtheDJ'. In Tig Ol' Bitties, it is stated that DeeJay watched the Twilight movie, which he considered to be a bummer. Axel Chains, usually referred to as Axel, is the drummer of Your Favorite Martian. He is a supporting character in YFMTS. Appearance Gen 1 (Phase 1) Axel has long, shaggy, dark brown hair and a black shirt with a skull on it, alongside jeans. He has blue shoes as shown in Club Villain and in Bottles of Beer he has grey shoes. His hair covers his eyes and he is 6'2, making him the tallest in the band. Gen 1 (Phase 2) Axel's design didn't change much in the redesign, except for the fact that his hair was made darker and the skull on his shirt was made slightly smaller. His wristbands are now brown, as are his shoes, and his jeans are cuffed at the bottom. He has a tooth missing and is 6'2", making him the tallest in the band.[1]His appearance in HIGH VOLTAGE depicts him normally, but he is missing both arms, replaced by cybernetic limbs Gen 2 (Phase 3) Axel's design changed the most in phase 3. His hair is a lighter shade of brown and is styled differently so his eyes are now visible. He is a lot more muscular than before, and he also wears a gray Viking helmet. In Everyone Clapped, his hair was lowered a bit. Personality Axel is loud and perverted, which is most notably seen in YFMTS #6 and #4. He is also characterized as being quite stupid, as shown in YFMTS #2 where he is proposing outlandish ideas to kill off their new band member. While perverted, he is also quite childish, as he has a habit of using the word "has" incorrectly and says "I want my mom!" in YFMTS #7 after getting chicken pox. Axel seems to enjoy making movie references as well, as shown in YFMTS #2 where he references The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, and in YFMTS #4 where he references Back to the Future. Trivia Axel plays his Hi-Hat cymbal with his left hand almost always (when playing the drums you play the Hi-Hat with your dominant hand). He also holds the microphone with his left hand in Telescope, so Axel may be left-handed. His name is probably inspired to Axl Rose, the main singer of Guns N' Roses. Axel is the only member to not appear in Tig Ol' Bitties, which has led to many fan speculations stating that he joined the band later. He owns an electric guitar as seen in YFMTS #4, but Benatar is the only person seen using it. Axel is the only member to not have his own solo song, as Benatar has Jupiter, DeeJay has Transphobic Techno, and Puff has most of the songs. The animation shows him drumming almost completely incorrectly in certain songs such as "ROAD RAGE." His Hi-Hat cymbal has no pedal. He has a pet hawk named Vincent, although DeeJay calls it a pigeon. As seen in the YFMTS intro, his drumsticks have his name on them. Until Telescope, Axel had never been audibly heard in any song. He also "sang" in Zombie Love Song, Bottles of Beer, Club Villain, The Stereotypes Song, Mr. DoucheBag, Santa Hates Poor Kids, White Boy Wasted, Fight For Your Right and Uno Reverse. He is the only band member to have never revealed their eyes until Gen 2/Phase 3, not counting We Like Them Girls. In JUPITER, his suit is the only one to not have a flag on the shoulder, instead having a skull. Axel briefly hosted Axl's Capsule, a short series within YFMTS. He misspells his own name, as seen above. Axel is implied to have a small phallus as shown in PITY F*CK (YFMTS). Axel is known to formally have herpes in the short Quarantine. Axel has a slight new design which is seen in Everyone Clapped and also seen as a Youtube Membership icon. His hair is the only thing that was changed. Axel is the only member of the band that hasn’t been visibly shown driving the bus in YFMTS THE ONLY CHARACTERS AVAILABLE ARE PUFF PUFF, BENATAR, DEEJAY AND AXEL
