Alphas are (generally) the largest and physically stronger out of all the three secondary genders. Alphas make up 25 to 30 percent of the general worlds population. Alphas do not posses a uterus or ovaries, therefore cannot be impregnated. Both Alpha females and males have male reproductive systems, however the females shaft is retractable and their testicles are located internally, in place of their ovaries. Alphas also go through a phase every 2-3 months called a Rut. During their rut, and Alpha will become hostile and aggressive, and will strongly feel the need to mate with an omega. Ruts can be avoided by the most part though with a pill called 'Rut Suppressants.' Which is a medication that will make an Alpha not have a Rut. However these suppressants must be laid down from time to time to let biology take its course. Otherwise, the Alpha will become physically sick, and in rare cases, the consequences are fatal. Betas are the largest group in society, making up roughly 60 to 65 percent of the general worlds population. Betas DO NOT experience Ruts or Heats, and are also affected in a lesser degree by ruts and heats of other alphas and omegas. Betas are basically average humans. Males can only impregnate females. Females experience periods unlike Omegas and are generally less fertile as well. Betas are unable to produce a scent through their scent glands, located on their neck, wrists, and inner thighs. Omegas are typically the weakest of the three secondary genders. Omegas may not experience periods like Betas females, but they do produce a secretion called 'Slick' during their heats. Slick is a translucent substance that has the purpose of lubricant as well as enticing an alpha to mate with the omega. Slick often has a sweet smell. Aside from scenting others and being scented whenever in stressful situations, Omegas also partake in an activity called 'Nesting'. Nesting consists of building a literal 'Fort' made of blankets, pillows, shirts, towels, linens, etc. that have a particular scent, usually a close friends or a mates scent. Nests can be anything, from rooms built specifically for nesting, to a closet, or two couches put together. Omegas nest for a variety of reasons. Such as fear, being anxious or upset. They nest in preparation to their heats, as well since they get very lethargic in it. In case of mating, and Omega will prepare a nest big enough for both them and their partner. Omegas will nest A LOT during and after pregnancy. They will feel safer in it and it is the best place to nurture their pups and a safe space for them and their mate. Both male and Female omegas possess a set of ovaries and a uterus, a male omegas uterus being through a special hole, separate from the anus. Both female and males can get impregnated by an alpha. Omega pregnancies only last around 3 months. Scent is a central subject in the Omegaverse. No two people have the same scent, but both alphas and omegas have a 'core scent'. in common that allows them to be identified as an omega or alpha. Ones scent is concentrated on their neck, wrists, and inner thighs. That is due to the fact that these areas have a big concentration of apocrine glands vulgarly known a scent glands. Scent glands are always giving off a scent, however, they get more active when experiencing intense emotions. This is known as emotional sweating, when one is, for example, having a lot of anxiety or stress, they secrete an unpleasant and irritating smell. and when aroused or extremely happy, a sweeter and comfortable smell will emit. Alphas and omegas also possess Enhancing glands. Which are endocrine glands close to the Medulla Oblangata that are triggered by the Pituitary gland - whos responsible for the production of other sexual means, to secrete special heat/rut hormones, indicating that an alpha/omega is ready to mate and produce offspring. Betas DO NOT possess enhancing glands. These are not secreted directly in the hair follicle like normal scent glands. Enhancing glands secrete hormones into the blood stream to their target cells, which are the same hair follicles the apocrine glands use. In there they mix with the normal hormonal secretion creating a more potent and enticing scent to potential mates. Neither of these set of glands fully develop until people reach puberty. In between the ages of 5 and 7 some of these glands do secrete an already characteristic scent, but nothing that really stands out. Their scent becomes extremely perceptible and their own when after their first rut/heat. This also makes it easier for parents to identify their children with their own scent. Claim marks are permanent bites that one gives to their mate to indicate they are now bonded. Said bite is given where the scent glands are located on the neck or thighs.
