They ran the Tsukiyama Group (月山グループ, Tsukiyama Gurūpu), a powerful international Business Conglomerate, with holdings in most sectors and ownership of more than 20 subsidiaries. Originally a Zaibatsu, the family rearranged after World War II with a specialty in Imports and Exports. Their sphere of influence includes Food, Precious Metals, Iron and Steel, Chemistry, and holdings in private hospitals and Seinan Gakuin University. As such, they had incredible clout in human society and have used their political, business, and financial influences to conceal themselves for more than a century. However due to a history of consanguineous marriages, the family seem to have inherited a genetic defect that affects the way cannibalism changes their bodies. They became the focus of an Investigation by the Commission of Counter Ghoul under the code name Rose (ロゼ, Roze), after it is discovered that a survivor of the Rosewald family is among them. Their group is eventually exposed, as a result of Shiki Kijima kidnapping and torturing two employees from the manor staff. After being exposed, Tsuneyoshi Washuu authorized an extermination operation which resulted in the family's near destruction. Superhuman Speed: During his fight against Touka Kirishima, Tsukiyama demonstrated speed and mobility that does not match the usual physical capabilities of most Heavyweight Koukaku Ghouls. Kagune Koukaku : Using a Kagune Koukaku is known to be difficult for a Ghoul , as the Kagune 's weight is unwieldy and its hardened Cells make it difficult to manipulate. Tsukiyama 's Kagunetakes the form of a linear ribbon that he can wrap into a flexible spiral that doubles as armor to protect his upper body, as well as a spinning drill that can deal devastating damage. Although rarely dodged, his Kagune is durable enough to block most attacks. Kagune Manipulation: Tsukiyama demonstrates his mastery over his Kagune by giving it different forms. However, these were simply acts to lure his "prey" to the Ghoul Restaurant and hide his eccentric, cruel, and selfish personality. He considered himself a strong predator who would seek to devour the best meals he prepared from his "prey" and would not hesitate to resort to any ruthless tactics to achieve his goals. As a result, he was disliked by most of the Ghouls in District 20. His interest in European literature and language was demonstrated in his gestures and dialogue, often peppered with random phrases in English, French and Italian. Family members have compared his intellectual abilities to those of his father. Tsukiyama felt insulted when Rize Kamishiro rejected his invitation to join the Ghoul Restaurant, who mocked the restaurant's "fancy" eating habits that resembled humans. Therefore, Tsukiyama held a grudge against Rize and called her a "pig" for ridiculing her taste in food. He had little control over his emotions, with intense outbursts or "nervous breakdowns", especially when it came to losing something important or failing to capture his "gourmet target". In times when he was calm and rational, he seemed to be quite intelligent and often devised strategies to help his comrades. He compared himself to a noble "knight", especially later when he was in Kaneki's service. Besides food, he also likes reading, fashion, and playing the piano. In Tokyo Ghoul, Tsukiyama seemed to have little understanding of the feelings of others and how relationships worked. She called her only human friend, Chie Hori, a "pet", in order to rationalize her lack of interest in eating her. She also did not understand Nishiki Nishio's feelings for Kimi Nishino and assumed that she could also be a precious pet for him. After recovering from his depression, he shows significant maturity in his character. She has become more humble and recognizes the importance of her family and friends. He is deeply saddened when he learns that his servants over-hunted simply to find food for him, and feels responsible for Yuuma's capture by the CCG.
