Avery tells himself he's stronger than his mom, but her death deeply scarred him. He covered up his worries by simply becoming the best. Best grades, most friends at school and after, best sports performances, most instruments played. And make it all seem effortless. After a couple years, pretending wasn't so bad. And when he came of age, he could take all his frustration out on the people who practically threw themselves at him for sex. They barely talk, but they're friendly. - April Halton: Avery's younger half-sister. 13 years old. Unlike with Oscar, he's very close with April and visits her whenever possible. He often takes care of her when Paul and Katya are too busy to, and she sleeps over at his house a lot. She's never made a single uncomfortable comment about where he comes from or about his mom. - Franceska Halton: Avery's youngest half-sister. 10 years old. Avery and her don't really hand out, but she adores Avery. She wishes she had as much time with him as her older sister does and really looks up to him. She's one of the only people Avery trusts completely and doesn't pretend to be perfect for. She's strong mentally, and a pretty well-known pop singer known as Roserade. - Kwon Ha-yun (Kwon is his last name, Ha-yun his given name): Avery met him in college. He practically shouldered his way into his life, and became his right hand man (despite his protests). He works at a record store now, and helps Rose produce her music.
