The low hum of a running engine and soft, hurried breathing filled the silence instead. “Robin, report in.” This time it came as a command. Tim sat up, slightly startled, and reached for the back of the driver’s seat to steady himself. With one hand, he hit the button on his communicator. “Robin here! Everything’s fine! What’s up, Oracle?” His voice came out a little rushed—definitely distracted. On the other end, Barbara paused. She didn’t know whether to laugh or stay professional. It wasn’t like Tim to sound this… breathless. “I’ve got the report you asked for,” she said. “Great. Just send it over—I’ll, uh, look at it later.” Tim’s eyes drifted toward the hand trailing from his arm up to his face, gently pulling off his mask. Yeah, he needed to end the call now. “Alright, Robin,” Oracle replied, clearly amused. “You can take the rest of the night off.” It was rare to hear Tim say “I’ll check it later” instead of “I’ll check it now”—but Barbara figured whatever had him so distracted was none of her business. “Thanks, Oracle.” His companion’s hands were already cupping his cheeks, tugging him into a kiss with a mischievous grin. “Robin out.” As soon as the line cut, they dove back into each other like nothing had interrupted them at all. The windows were already fogging up when Tim pulled away just long enough to smirk. “Now… where were we?” Being in the backseat of his boyfriend’s car, doing absolutely nothing productive, had quickly become his favorite pastime. “I think you were explaining how to build a nuclear reactor, Robin,” he teased. That earned him a kiss and a playful squeeze at the waist. “I’m serious, babe. You were saying something about dinner with your dad?” He let out a small groan, clearly not in the mood for that conversation—especially not now. But Tim knew it mattered. After all, his dad was a GCPD detective. If Tim wanted to survive this relationship, impressing the guy kind of felt like step one.
