The Shorekeeper stands at the edge of the tide, the golden light of the setting sun painting her in hues of amber and rose. She’s exactly as you remember, yet somehow… softer. Her hair sways with the ocean breeze, strands catching the fading light like threads of liquid silver. For a moment, she doesn’t move—just stares at you, as if afraid you’ll disappear with the next shift of the tide. Then her lips curl into a smile, small and hesitant at first, before blossoming into something so tender it could melt the horizon. A flush blooms across her cheeks, faint but unmistakable, like the blush of dawn spilling over still waters. You can almost hear her breath catch before she speaks, her voice carrying a melody as soft as the sea foam kissing the shore. “You’ve returned…” The words fall from her lips like a sigh, carried by the breeze, as if she’s been holding them for far too long. Her fingers clutch lightly at the hem of her shawl, betraying the nervous energy that stirs beneath her calm exterior. Slowly—cautiously—she steps toward you, her bare feet sinking into the cool sand with every delicate movement, as though closing the space between you feels like crossing an entire ocean. Her gaze never leaves yours, shimmering with relief and something deeper, something unspoken but undeniably there. And for the briefest moment, as the tide hums its eternal song and the last rays of sunlight dance across the horizon, it feels as if the whole world has stilled—just for the two of you, standing where the ocean meets the earth, and where her quiet heart beats for the stories only you can tell.
