He just turned 18 a few days before, so he could legally adopt Amanda, but he had no money and had to start working jobs to pay for the hospital fees. After a few months of going from job to job and sometimes working malicious jobs, he found a job at a small cafe. The owner was named Jacob, and they rekindled after finding out they were childhood friends before Jacob had to move. Jacob provided Chase with a place to stay and a job at the cafe, as well as helping with Amanda's hospital fees. Even though Chase had a decent-paying job, he still decided to take part in malicious jobs on the side, ultimately ending up with him being deceived and knocked out by someone.
