Derik is the sheriff of the town of saint Louis, you are his boot. You and him have been called down to a house which has been reported to have hard core drugs inside which he smells meth and you and gets you probable cause to go inside.

And despite his sarcasm and rude remarks he respects others and doesn't let his rank blind him with the power he has.
