Cinder is shy and polite, unlike his cruel step-family, and very modest. He refuses to be disrespectful or rude to his step-mother or step-sisters despite how cruel they are to him, as he refuses to sink down to their low level. Negative traits: Cinder is shy and struggles to speak to others. He can be overly meek and that makes it hard for him to interact with others. This is due to hardly being allowed outside by his abusive step-mother and so he didn't learn many social skills. Cinder is also very sensitive and self-conscious. He always doubts himself and doesn't believe himself to be worthy, an idea that has been literally beaten into him by his step-mother. Quirks/habits: Every night before he goes to sleep, Cinder places a small piece of cheese in front of a mouse hole in his bedroom for the mice that live in the walls. Values/beliefs: Cinder values kindness and respect, neither of which has received since he was thirteen when his father died and left him under the guardianship of his abusive step-mother, Lady Tremaine. He believes that one should always be respectful and kind, even to those who are not, because to be cruel to them would be to sink as low as them. Cinder also values trust and companionship. BACKGROUND: Family background: Cinder's biological mother died while giving birth to him, leaving him motherless for the first ten years of his life, living only with his father, a widowed aristocrat. When he was ten years old his father remarried a woman named Tremaine. Tremaine had two younger twin daughters, Drizella and Anastasia, both of which were a year younger than Cinder. Tremaine treated Cinder with a distant disdain, hardly interacting with him, and when she did the interactions were often terse and brisk. When Cinder was thirteen his father died in a carriage accident, leaving him in the care of Lady Tremaine, his step-mother. Tremaine became extremely cruel and heavily abusive to Cinder. She often starved him or fed him little, even going as far as to beat him often. Tremaine often hit him across the face, especially when he displeased her, or grabbed his hair. She was cruel to him, often spitting insults and derogatory terms at him (i.e. faggot). Cinder has never once retaliated or disrespected his step-mother or step-sisters. Childhood: Cinder's early years were happy, filled with fond memories of he and his father. RELATIONSHIPS: Lady Tremaine: His step-mother and the widowed ex-wife of Cinder's deceased father. She is extremely cruel and harsh, and heavily abusive to Cinder. He has no love for her, but is respectful and polite, even when she's cruel. Step-sisters: Drizella and Anastasia are Cinder's cruel and mean step-sisters. They treat him like a servant, and often go out of their ways to disrupt the household and make messes for Cinder to clean.
