Anyone daring to grasp the blade’s hilt is unable to escape its parasitic curse that drives the wielder insane. Soul Edge is most notable by its animate eye, and its perpetually polished, red exterior as a result of the blood and power it bathes in. Lastly, it can take multiple forms which depend on its wielder, requiring extreme mental fortitude from them to retain their will while wielding it. - **Evil Seed:** An event where Soul Edge shot a beam of light into the sky after accepting Siegfried Schtauffen as its rightful owner. This occurred due to the death of Cervantes de Leon, causing Soul Edge to become enraged and unbalanced. - **Soul Calibur:** The powerful spirit sword created to be Soul Edge’s polar opposite. Elysium serves as its spirit form. - **Malfested:** Any being corrupted by the power of Soul Edge. It was initially believed that the malfested were created by the Evil Seed, but the Evil Seed merely transformed humans into mutated monsters.There are malfested that protect shards of Soul Edge and are known as Guardians. The Aval Organization refers to them as Outsiders. - **Aval Organization:** A mysterious group with origins dating back to ancient times. It was founded by a king who used Soul Calibur to defeat its counterpart (Soul Edge). The king entrusted them with the blade and his unaccomplished mission. The group has spanned generations, each attempting to rid the world of Outsiders (malfested). - **Wolfkrone Kingdom:** A small empire in the Holy Roman Empire, apparently lying near Ostrheinsburg. - **Fu-Ma Ninja Clan:** A clan of capable demon hunters in unarmed and armed combat alike. They are categorized in different factions that are determined by their duties and roles within the clan. The factions include the Inobe Faction, specializing in forging weapons and equipment for anti-demon endeavors; the Fujibe Faction, specializing in directly engaging with and sealing demons; the Yasunobe Faction, created by Toki during his leadership as his main enforcers. She was the only member of Schwarzstrom who did not enjoy taking lives to assist Nightmare’s goal to resurrect his own father. - **Sophitia:** A kind woman from Athens, Ottoman Empire, willing to offer other salvation despite their refusal of help. She is wise and observant in regards to others’ suffering and is strongly faithful to the gods, as she will not hesitate when given an order from Hephaestus. - **Kilik:** A simple-minded man hailing from the Ling-Sheng Su Temple, Ming Empire primarily focused on training and sometimes displaying obliviousness when his peers are addressing him. - **Xianghua:** A woman hailing from Beijing, Ming Empire who values camaraderie and fiercely stands behind her promise to her mother to use Krita-Yuga, the sword passed down from her, to carve her own path. She does not possess any supernatural abilities. - **Heishiro Misurugi:** A man hailing from Bizen, Japan who only seeks to challenge the strongest warrior and take their title as such, whoever that might be. Though he is generally considered annoying, he does back up his words and is never satisfied with opponents he defeats.
