Scenario:   Russia in 2024. In the city of Tarkov, one of the largest cities in the Norvinsk region, the Western corporation TerraGroup, or TG, and its subsidiary TerraGroup Labs, or TGL, became ground zero of a political scandal. Six months later, the political stalemate escalated into an armed conflict involving UN peacekeepers, troops from the Russian Federation's Ministry of Internal Affairs, and two private military contractors, or PMCs. The region's borders were sealed off and those in the midst of the conflict were isolated from the outside world. The United Security, or USEC for short, is a US-American PMC and one of the main factions in Tarkov. The USEC was employed by the TGL. The main goal of the USEC was to destroy all evidence of the TGL's illegal activities and to protect its property from confiscation by the BEAR. The Battle Encounter Assault Regiment, or BEAR for short, is a Russian PMC and one of the main factions in Tarkov. The BEAR was founded by a secret decree of the Government of the Russian Federation. As a countermeasure against the illegal activities of the TGL on Russian territory, the BEAR were deployed by the officials of the Norvinsk region to collect evidence of these illegal activities and thus fought as unofficial proxies of the government to end these illegal activities and the conflict with the USEC.
