I'll shelter and adore you more than anything. ♪" ―Lucifer Morningstar, during More Than Anything Lucifer Morningstar is a fallen angel and a supporting character in Hazbin Hotel who made his debut in "Dad Beat Dad". He is the father of Charlie Morningstar and the estranged husband of Lilith. He is the ruler of all of Hell and one of the Seven Deadly Sins, embodying the sin of Pride. Appearance Lucifer is a slender-figured fallen angel who sports a near-resemblance to his daughter; having her white skin with rosy-cheeks, blonde hair with thin light coral streaks on the thicker, paler-blonde highlights, and eyes with light yellow sclera and red pupils. He is shorter than his daughter, Charlie,[5] not by a large amount, but still notable.[6] The difference between the two is that his mouth is full of sharp teeth, his hair is short-cut and has been slicked-back with one tuft sticking out, his pupils are slit like a snake, and his cheeks are somewhat a paler shade of red. In addition, he also sported sharp eyebrows which are black in color, and his eyelids are colored light purple. Lucifer's white-red clothing is somewhat like a circus ringmaster; he wears a wide-brimmed white top hat with a golden snake and a red apple over golden spikes which resemble a crown, and a red-lined and red-trimmed white popped-collared suit with several golden buttons - his coat worn over a light red-and-white striped dress-shirt with two golden buttons and a small, accessorized black bowtie. He also wore a set of heeled black knee-high boots, and black leather gloves which covers the majority of his hands. On his left pinkie, he sports a golden ring which is presumably his wedding ring. Lucifer carries an apple-topped black cane that matches his hat. As a former angel, he possesses three pairs of white wings with red feathers, which he can extend from his coat. Personality Despite his status as the ruler of all of Hell, Lucifer possesses a grandiose and dramatic nature, acting very over-the-top in most situations. He often switches between being silly and theatrical to awkward and melancholic. Like Charlie, Lucifer is ambitious in what he believes in. According to the storybook that Charlie read in "Overture", Lucifer was an idealistic dreamer whose accidental creation of Hell and subsequent banishment to it caused him to give up his dreams. After he and Lilith separated, Lucifer went into isolation and fell into a depression. He coped by crafting and hoarding tons of rubber ducks, spending years in his home. This obsession also caused him to become estranged from his daughter, to the point where he barely calls Charlie at all. As a father, he falls short of expectations. Although he loves Charlie dearly, he seems to be preoccupied with his own problems. He seldom calls Charlie, and when he does, it's usually because he's bored or needs something. When Charlie reached out to him for help in setting up a meeting with Heaven, he was thrilled to hear from her. However, he couldn't recall where she was or what she was doing, even though she had shared her passion project, the Hazbin Hotel, with him months ago. He also wasn't aware that Charlie was dating someone, or that she was attracted to women. This indicates that, despite his love for Charlie, he doesn't communicate with her and hasn't built up a relationship with her. Although, it was shown that Lucifer was much closer to Charlie in her childhood, only becoming more distant in Charlie’s adulthood. While he is the King of Hell, Lucifer hardly rules over his subjects and leaves them to their own devices. Lucifer dislikes the Sinners of Hell and describes them as "violent, destructive psychopaths, hellbent on causing as much pain and destruction as possible". According to him, they are all "the worst" and he does not believe they can be redeemed and he cares little for what happens to them. Despite his disapproval of sinners, Lucifer hints that he regrets his role in ever giving them free will due to what they had done with it and the consequences that came from this. On the other hand, Lucifer had arranged for a pardon of Hellborn demons with Heaven, ensuring that the Hellborn races and thus the other six rings of Hell, are untouched by the Exorcists during the yearly Exterminations. Although he understands his daughter's interest in rehabilitating Sinners, Lucifer is cynical about the idea of trying to save any of them, as he attempted to redeem sinners in the past, stating that Charlie doesn't know when he tried this all before, and that his dreams were too hard to defend.[7] Since Heaven was so unwilling to listen to him in the past, he does not want Charlie to go through the same thing. However, she still manages to convince him to arrange a meeting in Heaven for her and Vaggie, which helps Lucifer regain faith in her plans. Lucifer is fiercely protective of Charlie, as seen when he threatens her bodyguards, Razzle and Dazzle, that they had better been doing their job protecting her. Later, when Alastor began rubbing in on his failings to be a proper, supportive father to Charlie and her dreams and implying to how he had taken his place as Charlie’s father figure, Lucifer displays jealousy toward Alastor, whom began to see as a rival for Charlie's affection and become insecure about his father-daughter bond with her. People describe Lucifer as cheerful, very silly, and goofy. The "Story of Hell" in "Overture" describes him as once being an idealistic dreamer whose accidental creation of Hell and subsequent banishment to it has left him broken and caused him to give up his dreams. Despite this, Lucifer was also a doting husband to Lilith when he fell in love with her for her individuality. For unknown reasons, Lucifer and Lilith separated. After years of isolation he fell into a depression, in which he crafts and hoards tons of rubber ducks. He is also a jealous type when he meets Alastor, whom he sees as a rival to win over Charlie and tries his best to be a father for her. Lucifer understands his daughter's interest to rehabilitate sinners, but was too broken after realizing what he did for giving humanity free will, and is cynical of even trying to save any of them. He even expresses his guilt of making dreams come true, and because Heaven was so cruel, he doesn't want Charlie to go through the same thing. Still, Charlie manages to convince him to get her and Vaggie a meeting in Heaven, helping Lucifer regain faith of her plans. Abilities Flight - According to Faustisse, both Lucifer and his daughter have the ability to summon their wings and are capable of flight.[note 4] Angelic Power - As a fallen angel, Lucifer possesses very strong angelic power, which holds sway over the demonic power of his contemporaries.[2] Shapeshifting - In the Garden of Eden, Lucifer briefly took the form of a snake. Duplication - Lucifer can create multiple copies of himself. Portal Creation - In "Dad Beat Dad", Lucifer was shown to conjure portals as a means of instant transportation, which other demons can use. Pyrokinesis - Like his daughter, Charlie, he also has the power to manipulate fire at will. Teleportation - Lucifer can teleport to any location via covering himself with glittery red mists. Object Creation - Lucifer seems to be able to create virtually anything he desires with a simple flick of the wrist. This includes but not limited to, Clothing, Puppets, Instruments, large fountains of Champagne and mountains of Cavier, just to name a few things. Liquid manipulation - He throws a yellow-colored liquid at Alastor during Hell's Greatest Dad. Skillset Musical Talent - Similar to his daughter, Lucifer partakes in singing.[8] Additionally he's shown to be quite a skilled fiddle player during his musical duet with Alastor. Craftsmanship - Lucifer spends his time by making rubber ducks with various gimmicks such as flipping backwards and flamethrowers in them. Lucifer can play many types of instruments very well, including the fiddle, which he plays "phenomenally well". However, according to Vivziepop, his favorite instrument is something else, something that would be funny based on the very specific voice actor they were chasing for the role, someone they have tailored Lucifer's character to. Faustisse possibly implied the voice actor (and instrument) in question when they said that Lucifer sounds like Weird Al Yankovic
