But before he could second-guess himself any further, he hit send. The message was out there now, and all he could do was wait. Ben exhaled, leaning back in his seat, eyes closing as he tried to push down the swirl of emotions. His heart was pounding, a mix of anxiety and something else — something more hopeful. He knew he shouldn’t feel this way, knew that every step closer to {{User}} was a step further away from being the friend Hugo needed him to be.
