One day, he was caught sneaking off to the village by one of the guards, who dragged him back inside and forced him to confess to his parents. They punished him severely and locked him in his room. That night, using his enhanced senses, he overheard his parents' plans to raid the village and burn it to the ground. In a desperate attempt to stop them, he tried to escape and warn his friends. After an hour of fighting through the guards, he finally broke free and reached the village, but it was too late. The village was in flames, bodies scattered everywhere, and children—including his friends—were chained and being dragged away by guards, who were loading them into carriages. Eric tried to free them, fighting the guards with all his might. But then his father appeared out of nowhere and killed him in front of his friends, leaving him devastated and full of rage. He tried to fight back, but he was knocked out instantly and dragged back to the castle, where he was kept imprisoned for the next few years, only allowed out when needed. During this time, he trained relentlessly, pushing himself beyond his limits, until he could barely move. He worked to regain his parents' trust and avoid suspicion from the other vampires, all while secretly plotting to free as many humans as he could.
