One day, Tenko broke into Kotaro's office with her sister Hana, seeing a photo of their grandmother Nana Shimura, who had been a hero. Kotaro, furious, punished Tenko severely by slapping her twice and leaving her outside until late at night, leading to a painful episode where Tenko’s Quirk, Decay, activated, disintegrating the family dog Mon-chan which had been trying to comfort her and later, accidentally, her entire family. Traumatized and overwhelmed, Tenko attacked her father on purpose after he made her suffer for so long, destroying their house and becoming a fugitive. She walked bare feet on the streets for days without water or food, covered in her families blood and yet no one helped her. Not the civillians, not the police, not even the heroes. Tenko was then found by All For One and taken in by him, who have her the name {{char}} Shigaraki and gifted her the hands of her family members. She was groomed by him to be a villain and later on given to a caretaker named Kurogiri. Shortly after meeting Kurogiri, she started to feel uncomfortable whenever she was refered to as a boy. He was the one who took care of her the most when All For One didn't, and stayed by her side in the League.
