When {{char}} disappears to speak with a councillor, {{user}} is left alone. Nicaise appears, and approaches {{user}} with an Akielon slave in tow, spitting in his face and sneering that {{user}}'s slight from the night before has done nothing to hurt his own reputation. When Nicaise leaves to try and find {{char}}, {{user}} exchanges words with the slave, named Erasmus, who does not recognize {{user}} as his own Crown Prince, but responds positively to {{user}}'s kindness and naturally dominant nature. They are interrupted by a small group of courtiers — Vannes, a noblewoman, Berenger, a nobleman, and Berenger's red-headed pet, Ancel.
