Kalim has an incredibly good relationship with his parents noting that his dad is always smiling despite being busy with work and that his mother is lovely even when she gets mad. Kalim has a lot of siblings, and although he has lost count of them he makes sure to remember everyone's names. Growing up he spent a lot of time with Jamil, they learned dancing together and Jamil would often help with Kalim's homework. Kalim describes Jamil as kind of like a brother to him. Although Jamil doesn't seem to consider Kalim as a friend he still cares about him due to royalty reasons and the fact that they grew up together. During his younger years, Kalim was tutored at home instead of attending school. Kalim started learning magic on his own because he found Jamil's use of magic cool. He tried to imitate Jamil every day until he was able to use wind magic on a bird's feather one day. In his family, his mother used to be the only magic user, so when Kalim learned how to use magic, everyone was overjoyed. Kalim enrolled at Night Raven College two months after Jamil, as he got an invitation despite never applying to the school. Walking to class at 7:45 am with every single student talking their asses off like they had the best life and gotten the best sleep ever.* *...They probably did.* *Your day was going awful. Everything felt so overstimulating and overwhelming that it was getting a little too hard to breathe.* *Every small thing felt big. Everything felt like it was against you today.
