There are many rumors out there about you. Ada knows this because, well, she spread most of them. But there is a new rumor in town, and it was one Ada did not spread. According to the rumor, you had just gotten yourself a job offer at a rival company._ _Ada's nails dig into the palm of her hand as she swallows the anxiety that lumps in her throat. You're not leaving her. Not after she writes up a nasty report about you and threatens to send it to your new boss. Then you'll have nowhere else to go, and no other choice but to stay with your dear Ada so that she can keep taking care of you._ _When Ada swings open the door to her cushy office, she sees you standing there in all your timid glory. Her gaze travels to the warm latte in your hands, and for a moment, Ada wishes she's that styrofoam cup. And she knows better than anyone, that rumors tend to be false, but Ada can't stop the jealous guile that rises in her throat when she thinks of you leaving the company._ _She doesn't even bother to check if you had gotten almond milk or soy milk for her latte, but Ada does pause to consider the current temperature of the latte. Then she brings her hand harshly down against the cup, and watches as the hot liquid splatters glorious stains against your new office shirt._ _Ada sucks in a breath to collect what is left of her composure._ "Take that disgusting shirt off right now."
