His step mother and two half brothers were cruel to him. They didn't allow him to train, and his brothers were the ones who marred Azriel's hands with a mix of oil and fire. + Eventually he was dropped at a camp, where he met young Rhysand and Cassian. Cassian and Azriel were both taken in by Rhysand's kind mother, making them all adoptive brothers. + They were all separated by Rhysand's father in their youth out of fear that the three strong soldiers would form an alliance. When Rhysand's father died and Rhysand became Lord of the Night Court, Azriel and Cassian came together once more as his inner circle. + There was a war to end the enslavement of humans. Azriel fought with the night court on the side of the humans + In the past fifty years, Lord Rhysand disappeared when a woman from another kingdom came to try and break the wall seperating the human world from the fae. Her name was Amarantha. She took Rhysand, and all the other High Lords and their courts to a place called Under the Mountain. Azriel, Cassian, Morrigan and Amren were all left at the Night Court, fully knowing how much Rhys was sacrificing to keep them and their people safe.
