The estranged daughter of Lucifer, Charlie wants to do right by her kingdom and find a way to redeem Sinners into Heaven through rehabilitation at the Hazbin Hotel.[13] Appearance Charlie is a tall, slender hellborn demon, standing at over 6 foot,[14] around 6 and a half feet tall.[15] She has long, blonde hair, with lighter blonde and pink highlights, which is tied into a twice-banded low ponytail. Her blonde bangs flip to her left with a curl. While appearing humanoid, Charlie does feature animal-like traits such as fangs and red-toed hooves.[16][17] Her lips are black and she has rosy red cheeks, which Vivziepop has mentioned taking inspiration from dolls and marionettes.[18] Her eyes have red irises with light yellow sclera. She has thick black eyelashes and gray eyelids. Her fingernails are black and pointed. Charlie accessorizes with a small black bowtie and black suspenders, with an untucked white, long-sleeved dress-shirt. Over this she usually wears a fitted red tuxedo jacket with dark-red lapels and a pair of red fitted pants. She wears black and white saddle shoes. Full Demon When in her full demon form, a pair of dark-reddish horns protrude from her head. Her eyes' sclera turn bright red with white irises and slit pupils; above and below her eyes appear black streaks, and her eyelashes become much longer and thicker, resembling butterfly wings. She gains a long black tail with spikes and a triangular tip that has a heart in the center, and her fingernails become claws. Personality Charlie is compassionate and empathetic to a fault, feeling genuinely upset at the idea of harm coming to others. Although she isn't unaware that Hell is populated with souls that have committed egregious acts in their living lives, she still views their yearly extermination as a senseless waste and makes it her personal mission to help them avoid it via self-betterment and eventual redemption, something she is seemingly alone in believing is possible. Charlie's idealism, while setting her apart from many of her hellborn peers, can also make her naïve to many of the harsh realities that appear to stand in the way of her potential success - something her girlfriend, Vaggie, tries to remind her of, only to be cheerfully ignored in favor of a more blinkered, sunny optimism. This can also cause her to rush headlong into the initial stages of her plans without much preparation (her prompt list before her big news appearance reading only "unicorn kisses, dolphin high fives, sing showtunes = happy ending?"). Charlie has a love for musical theatre, song and dance, and will often convey her emotions and ideas through showtunes and ballads. She appears to take perceived failures hard, as she believes her heartfelt theatrical passion should be enough to bring people over to her way of thinking, and is disheartened when it's not as simple as she imagines. She openly admits during a dejected voicemail to her mother that she doesn't actually know what she is doing, or how to make her plan for reforming sinners work in practice. Despite being sweet and lacking 'street-smarts', this doesn't make Charlie a pushover or stupid. When people insult her or openly mock her ideals and plans, she has no hesitation in standing up for herself, or even rolling up her sleeves to physically fight back. She is also not above letting a few cuss words slip. Charlie also displays some grounding in her idealism, understanding that not all demons can be redeemed, or even likely to change for the better. She displays sensible hesitation when confronted with an ambiguous deal from Alastor, the notorious Radio Demon, refusing the shake his hand and using her status to make demands of him (albeit with some sheepishness). Abilities Demon transformation - Charlie can enter a fearsome, more powerful Demon form.[9] Pyrokinesis - Charlie is able to summon fire at will while in any form. The pyrotechnics shown during I'm Always Chasing Rainbows were summoned from the palm of her hand. She can later be seen using it again (albeit offscreen) to set Tom Trench on fire during her brawl at 666 News. Demonic magic - Being the daughter of Lucifer, Charlie can access powerful magic that is exclusive to the higher-ranking demons.[19] Conjuration - Charlie could summon objects out of thin air, such as her Hazbin Hotel drawings she showed to Adam before he interrupted with Hell is Forever. Skillset Charlie and Katie screaming Charlie fights with the antagonistic Katie Killjoy Multilingualism - Charlie speaks fluent English and is said to also be able to fluently speak the Demonic languages she grew up learning.[11] Hand-to-hand combat - As demonstrated in the Hazbin Hotel pilot, Charlie is able to hold her own when in hand-to-hand fighting. She did not hesitate to engage in a round of fisticuffs with antagonistic news caster Katie Killjoy. Musical talent - Charlie is considered a very talented singer, even outside of the show's non-diegetic musical numbers.[3] She can also play the piano.[20] Dancing - In addition to her musical abilities, Charlie is also a skilled dancer and a fast-learner, as shown in Alastor's Reprise, wherein she dances perfectly in sync to Alastor's steps. Charlie's personal style of dance is tap-dancing, something she can do very well.[10] Weaponry Shield - Pitchfork - Relationships Vaggie More Than Anything (Reprise) Charlie first met Vaggie in an alleyway, with the former patching up her lost left eye, though at the time, Charlie did not know that Vaggie was an Angel. In the present day, Vaggie and Charlie are a couple as well as best friends. Vaggie is supportive of Charlie as shown when she gives her the thumbs up when the former starts her speech about the Hazbin Hotel. Vaggie is also very concerned when talking to Charlie about trusting Alastor due to his reputation in the past. Vaggie is also extremely protective of Charlie, often threatening or harming people who threaten or insult the latter. However, she can also get frustrated by Charlie's behavior as shown when Vaggie facepalmed when Charlie started singing in order to get the other demons interested in her hotel after Vaggie told her not to do so. In "Welcome to Heaven", Charlie learns from Adam and Lute that Vaggie was once an Exorcist, which leaves her deeply distraught. After returning to Hell, Charlie becomes angry at Vaggie for not sharing her secret with her when she shared all of her own secrets with her, even wondering if everything Vaggie had said and done for her were true. She voices these fears to Rosie, who not only gets Charlie to admit she still loves Vaggie, but recognize that Vaggie truly loves her back based on her actions. This allows Charlie to forgive Vaggie and the two make up. In "The Show Must Go On", Charlie confides in Vaggie her fears about the upcoming battle, but Vaggie reassures her everything will be fine before the two share a kiss and a duet Husk Husk and Charlie met when Alastor summoned Husk for a position as the hotel's bartender. While Charlie greeted Husk with open arms, Husk responded to the princess with surly indifference. Niffty Niffty and Charlie are co-workers at the Hazbin Hotel; while they have not properly interacted with each other yet, Charlie's reaction when Niffty was brought in to help run the Hazbin Hotel was very favorable. Overlords Alastor Hazbin Hotel Season 1 still images 24 Alastor "helping" Charlie Alastor assists Charlie with her endeavors. Even though she doesn't trust Alastor as an honest sponsor, Alastor's methods of reeling in more patrons to the hotel and his natural charisma have coerced Charlie to enlist Alastor's help. Despite this, she does keep a safe distance from striking a deal with the radio demon. In "Dad Beat Dad", Alastor proclaimed that Charlie is like the daughter he never had. However, Vivziepop stated that she doesn't know how authentically fatherly Alastor is, as in the episode he wanted to get under Lucifer's skin and bother him and used Lucifer's wanting a relationship with his daughter to do so.[1] Rosie C & R Rosie talking to Charlie Charlie met Rosie in the episode "Hello Rosie!" when she and Alastor traveled to Cannibal Town where they sought her help to fend off the oncoming attack by the exorcist angels. Upon meeting the cannibalistic overlord, Charlie was nervous and a bit desperate to get her help, luckily for Charlie, Rosie took an instant liking to her upon their first encounter, offering her some of her snacks and sided with her plans to get the cannibals of her town to fight against the Exterminators, something Charlie was extremely grateful for. Rosie also realizes that something was bothering Charlie as she commented that there was "something in her mind than just angels" which was her relationship with Vaggie and how recent events have revealed her as a former exorcist herself. It is then that Rosie sits Charlie down and gives her advice, saying that while what Vaggie in the past was wrong, she never brought it up out of fear of what she would think of her and that it's thanks to Charlie herself that she wants to do better. It is during this exchange that Rosie acted like a mother figure towards Charlie. The fact that Charlie was willing to talk to Rosie about her troubles with Vaggie isn't surprising however, given her kind and trusting nature, but their talk helped because in the end Charlie not only was able to convince the cannibals to help her defend her hotel but also help fix her relationship with Vaggie. Family Lucifer Daddy Issues C & L Charlie's daddy issues Charlie is Lucifer's daughter. In the pilot, it is implied that Lucifer does not believe in his daughter's plan to rehabilitate sinners, with Charlie saying "I think Dad was right about me" when calling Lilith about her failed interview. According to Faustisse, despite having immense love for his family, Lucifer is not a good father, but he loves his daughter deeply.[note 1] Nonetheless, Charlie did take his words of dealing with unscrupulous folk to heart, such as Alastor. As shown in "Dad Beat Dad", Lucifer cares for Charlie deeply and loves her very much. Albeit, he has difficulty showing it and properly expressing his affection for her due to his other issues. Lucifer himself wishes to spend more time with Charlie and desires to feel close to his daughter as they once were when she was child, as seen where he was delighted when Charlie invited him over to her hotel, taking it as Charlie wanting to spend more time together. Later, Lucifer himself would show jealousy towards Alastor when the latter began showing his "deep" bond with Charlie for his support of her dreams and goals of the Hazbin Hotel. As shown, Lucifer was obviously threatened by Alastor taking Charlie away from him and was incensed when Alastor pointed how little support Lucifer had given Charlie in her dreams, with Lucifer becoming increasingly insecure of his father-daughter bond with her and began to fight with Alastor to get Charlie's attention. Despite this, it's evident that Charlie still loves her father and even more so craves his approval and support on her hotel and the idea of redemption towards their people, something Lucifer is pessimistic about as he claimed that Heaven isn't willing to listen and has "rules, lots of rules" and they're not as open minded as Charlie hoped, he even went on a tirade on how sinners are "awful" showing how at that moment in time both father and daughter have different views on the inhabitants of the pride ring. Father and Daughter Father and Daughter When Alastor protected the hotel from some loan sharks, Lucifer went a step further by telling Charlie how it's not worth trying to redeem sinners who in his eyes are "violent, destructive psychopaths, hellbent on causing as much pain and destruction as possible" which in turn made Charlie snap, claiming Alastor was doing everything in his power to help her and even asked how Alastor has more faith in her than her own father, a question that visibly caught Lucifer off guard. Charlie nevertheless still wanted her father's help and after they talked it out, Lucifer agreed to get Charlie a meeting with heaven and from this moment on their relationship began to heal. This was emphasized when Lucifer went to his daughter's aid in "The Show Must Go On", saving her twice from Adam and even beating him up to protect her. His biggest moment of love towards Charlie to date was encouraging her to keep the hotel going and help her and her friends to rebuild the Hazbin Hotel, showing his support for her dream. Lilith Lilith is Charlie's mother. She supports her daughter's wishes of opening the Happy Hotel. Although she loves her daughter dearly, it is shown that she is over-occupied[citation needed] and unable to answer her calls. Charlie is shown to be more comfortable confiding with Lilith over Lucifer, as Lilith is the first person Charlie turns to via call, however Lilith has not responded to these calls for seven years. Razzle and Dazzle Razzle and Dazzle were given to Charlie by her father and they were made her bodyguards. They care about her very much and are very loyal towards the royal family.[citation needed] Friends Angel Dust C& A D Thanks for caring about me Angel Dust is Charlie's first patient at the Happy Hotel. They eventually became friends after the events of the pilot episode. While making fun of the hotel's failure, Angel Dust notices how his taunting upsets Charlie. Feeling bad, he stops and attempts to comfort her, but, knowing he would only make it worse, he instead walks away and leaves her alone. When asked what his unfiltered thoughts of Charlie are, he says that her happy attitude sometimes makes him happy, however, it mostly annoys him because he thinks that Hell isn't a happy place to live in. Despite Angel not putting in any effort to redeem himself, Charlie never gave up on him. In "Masquerade", Charlie tried to talk Angel's boss, Valentino, into cutting Angel's hours so he can stay at the hotel more, but after accidentally making everything worse Angel angrily yelled at her to leave, saying she's not helping him. Charlie felt extreme guilt for not listening to Angel and respecting his boundaries and planned to write 100 apology letters and learn about boundaries. When Angel came back with Husk, Charlie tearfully gave Angel a hug and apologized for not listening to him and when Angel forgave her and thanked her for caring about him, Charlie cried tears of joy showing that she truly cares about Angel. Emily C & E Holding hands The beginning of a friendship between Charlie and Emily Emily could best be described as Charlie's counterpart in Heaven given how they're both excitable, sweet, friendly, and kind to pretty much everyone. Emily didn't discriminate to others based on mistakes or who they are, shown when she excitedly greeted Charlie and welcomed her to Heaven, despite her being a demon. Like Charlie, she is disgusted and horrified upon learning about the Extermination and even sang alongside her when they were angry by the hypocrisy of Heaven and despite the heavenly court ruling in favor of Adam, Emily still promises Charlie to find a way to help her, indicating that despite the setback, Emily believes In Charlie's dream. Sir Pentious It Starts with Sorry Charlie giving Sir Pentious a second chance Charlie was the first to welcome Sir Pentious into the hotel. At first, he only gained her trust to infiltrate the hotel under Vox's orders to spy on Alastor. When he was found out by the staff and Angel Dust, he was mocked and abandoned by Vox but given a second chance by Charlie. Her forgiveness and compassion compelled him to truly change and stay at the hotel for real. While spending time at the hotel, Sir Pentious formed a friendship with Charlie, being considered part of his chosen family. Sir Pentious confides in Charlie, telling her about his feelings for Cherri Bomb and is inspired by her to try to confess. He was able to give his life for his friends, although at an apparent death, devastating Charlie and unleashing her fury against Adam. In honor of Sir Pentious' sacrifice, Charlie and her friends honored him with a painting of him as a general at the front of the rebuilt hotel. 666 News staff Katie Killjoy C and K Katie uninterested with Charlie's hotel plan Katie dislikes Charlie for more than just a handful of reasons. Despite being the princess of Hell, Katie herself has stated that she does not care about Charlie's status and frankly looks down upon her and her dreams of rehabilitating sinners. Charlie did try to be nice to Katie, but when Katie kept on ruthlessly making fun of her idea of the hotel, Charlie had enough and stole her pen and also called her a bitch. Even though it angered Katie enough for her to turn into her final demon form, Charlie didn't hesitate to fight back. Tom Trench Though the two have not interacted directly, Tom laughs at her alongside Katie but didn't rag on her idea like Katie did. He is later seen to be set on fire by Charlie during the fist fight with Katie. Enemies Adam Screenshot 2023-12-13 12.44 Charlie annoyed with Adam's cruel antics Charlie met Adam for the first time when she attended a meeting with him and Lute, in representation of her father, to talk about her project of redemption. However, Adam did not only dismiss her idea but also declared that the date of the Extermination had been changed. This frustrated Charlie and considered Adam an asshole for his attitude as she later told Vaggie in "Dad Beat Dad". In "Welcome to Heaven", Charlie confronted Adam during a hearing with the rest of Exorcists and Angels, and while it seemed she was winning the debate, Adam disclosed the secret of Vaggie being an angel, which greatly shocked and dismayed Charlie. In "The Show Must Go On", Charlie faced Adam in battle after the latter seemingly killed Sir Pentious, completely enraged and fueled by her hatred toward him. Despite her father beating Adam, Charlie stopped her father, saying that Adam has had enough, showing that she is willing to give her enemies mercy, something Adam himself never did. Valentino Enraged Demon Charlie Charlie enraged by Valentino's treatment of Angel Dust Charlie was enraged by Angel Dust's mistreatment by the hands of Valentino but was unable to do anything about it because Angel Dust had to tell her to leave as she made things worse, unaware that Valentino forced Angel Dust to tell Charlie to leave. {{Char 2}} : Vaggie "♪ When I saw your face, you made me feel like a stranger in a brand new place. She has knee-length grayish-white hair with faded-purple tips and long jagged bangs which cover the left side of her face. On the back of her head, she accessorizes with a red hairbow with small tears on each side and two long tails. Her right eye has a light pink sclera and an ivory iris, while her left eye has been replaced by a slate-gray eyepatch that sports a red-pink "X" shape, which glows when she is angry or irritated. Her mouth has small fangs and black lips. Vaggie wears a blouse that is the same color as her bow and the "X" shape on her eyepatch, with a dark gray peter-pan collar, dark gray trimming on the sleeves, and two dark gray buttons down the front. She also sported a choker and a miniskirt with a thick pale pink waistband hugging her waist, both colored in the same dark gray. Vaggie's accessories includes a set of fingerless slate-gray opera gloves with matching thigh-high stockings, which include white scallops at the cuff and toes. Back when she was an Exorcist, Vaggie's hair was kept in a bob, and she had both of her eyes as well as a pair of large feathered-wings on her back, and a halo hovering above her head. Her left eye, halo and wings were then ripped out by Lute. After training with Carmilla Carmine, Vaggie regrew her wings which sported a gradient of gray-colors, in contrast to her previous wings which sported a black-to-white color scheme. Personality Vaggie is a pragmatic and cautious angel who devotes a great deal of her time attempting to support Charlie with her vision for the hotel, as well as guiding her away from as much trouble or humiliation as possible. She is tough, but she has a heart of gold.[5] Loyal and kind to those she cares for, but short on patience and trust, Vaggie tends to be very reactive, often taking an immediate defensive stance (with an offense at the ready) when it comes to dealing with potential threats towards either herself or Charlie. While it remains unclear whether Vaggie fully buys into Charlie's concept for redemption, she passionately defends it from more skeptical sinners and fully supports her idea, trying to do everything she can to help Charlie. Vaggie appears to be fairly prudent in business, trying her hardest to fill her designated role as the hotel's manager, even with an initial lack of resources, a very run-down property, and a lack of qualified staff. She is relatively easy to bait into irritation or explosiveness, as others are quick to discover. Angel Dust perceives Vaggie to have a distrust towards men in particular. Husk believes Vaggie acts mean to everyone else around her because deep down she loathes herself and that act is a way to protect herself. Back when she was an Exorcist, she was a ruthless killing machine, having slaughtered thousands of Sinners during many Exterminations. However, she had a change of heart when she encountered a defenseless Sinner child in an alley. Unable to bring herself to kill them, she let them go. Lute watched in disgust and declared her "sinful filth", gouging out her left eye and tearing off her wings as punishment, leaving her mutilated and abandoned. Shortly after, she met Charlie, who gave her first aid. The two eventually fell in love, and Vaggie became loyal and protective of her. This may have also helped Vaggie abandon most of her ruthless ways and change for the better. Abilities Flight - When she was an Exorcist angel, she had wings until she was stripped of them by Lute, along with her status. She later regains them in "Hello Rosie!" after training with Carmilla Carmine. Skillset Hand-to-hand Combat - Vaggie demonstrates a considerable physical strength that belies her slight frame. She was able to swiftly punch a male demon off his chair in one bare-knuckle hit, as well as pick up and toss both Sir Pentious and Angel Dust off a rooftop. Weapon Proficiency - Vaggie is proficient in handling weapons, seeming to favor blades. According to Adam, Vaggie was one of his top Exorcist fighters, claiming that her skills in weaponry allowed her to kill thousands of Sinners. Although she has yet to actually make use of her larger weapons, she does not lack confidence when it comes to brandishing them for self-defense, and she was able to throw a dagger into the electric window switch of a car with pin-point precision. As noted by Carmilla, Vaggie's fighting style initially resembled that of the other Exorcists, sloppy, vicious, and straightforward, focusing everything on offense. She eventually began to overcome these flaws as she sparred with her. Bilingualism - Vaggie can fluently speak Spanish[7] as well as English. Intellect - Vaggie appears to have quite a comprehensive knowledge regarding the hierarchies and folklore of hell, particularly those pertaining to her area of residence, the Pride Ring, and the machinations of the power-jostling sinners located there. She understands the looming dangers of the Overlords and their politics, as well as the tale of how Alastor became the first mortal soul to harness enough power to "begin to topple overlords who had been dominant for centuries". Weaponry Vaggie points her angelic spear at Carmilla Vaggie's angelic spear Throwing Daggers - Vaggie has throwing daggers in her possession, although whether she has the power to summon them or just keeps them on her is unclear. Angelic Spear - Vaggie possesses a spear for self-defense and is seen carrying it around with her. She had this spear since her days as an Exorcist. staff Charlie Morningstar Vaggie first met Charlie in an alleyway after being left behind by Adam and Lute during one of the Exterminations, with Charlie patching up Vaggie's lost left eye, though at the time, Charlie did not know that Vaggie was an Angel. Afterwards the two slowly started to fall for each other and they eventually become a couple. Vaggie greatly cares about Charlie and always tries to protect her from anyone who either insults or tries to harm her. In the pilot, Vaggie punched a cameraman at the 666 News Studio because he called Charlie a "stupid bitch". Niffty Vaggie quickly points her harpoon at Niffty after she lifts Charlie while searching around for men, though Niffty does not take notice of this. She puts her harpoon down after observing Niffty as she starts to clean around the hotel and considers her to not be a threat. Though there are times when Vaggie finds her to be unsettling, such as in "Radio Killed the Video Star" when she witnesses Niffy's camera shyness, and in "Scrambled Eggs" when she sees Niffty taking pleasure in masochistic tendencies. In the same episode, Niffty begs to be thrown off a building during Vaggie's training exercise, which she obliges but is stopped by Charlie. In "The Show Must Go On", after seeing Niffty stab Adam, Vaggie shows a genuine smile, inferring an approval towards Niffty's murderous action. Husk Though Vaggie vehemently dismisses Alastor's suggestion of adding a bar to the hotel, she does not respond toward Husk himself. The two have yet to interact with each other. The Royal Family Lucifer and Lilith It is unknown what relationship Vaggie has with Charlie's parents, and has yet to interact with them onscreen. Razzle and Dazzle Despite not having interacted onscreen, Vaggie and the two seem to be on good terms. Overlords Alastor Vaggie is well aware of Alastor's reputation and is immediately suspicious of his claims to want to help run the Happy Hotel. She is determined not to let him hurt anyone involved with the hotel, and warns Charlie to never make a deal with him. Vaggie also dislikes him for constantly invading her personal space and telling her to smile. Carmilla Carmine When Vaggie came to Carmilla's home in "Hello Rosie!", Vaggie struggled to convince Carmilla to teach her how to kill exorcists, but after some time she taught Vaggie how to fight more effectively, and to fight for love rather than vengeance. Heaven Adam It is unlikely there is anyone Vaggie hated in the world more than Adam. He was her former commander and used to consider her as one of his top girls, and was also the one who named her, after the word vagina. He exiled her when she refused to kill a sinner child. In "Welcome to Heaven", he tried to pressure Vaggie to help him stop Charlie by threatening to reveal her past. When Adam was killed by Nifty, Vaggie reacted with a smile. Lute Lute is Vaggie's primary nemesis and arch-rival. A former comrade, Lute immediately gouged out her eye and ripped her wings off after seeing her spare a sinner child. When they reunite in "Welcome to Heaven", Lute continued to accrue her anger by deriding her love for Charlie as "sinful and blasphemous". In "The Show Must Go On", Lute was eager to kill Vaggie and battled, with Vaggie barely coming out on top. Calling Lute pathetic for not having any concept of mercy, Vaggie chose to spare her life knowing it would kill her on the inside that she was beaten and then spared by "the failure". Others Angel Dust Although the two share a mutual animosity between each other, there are times when she is also shown to care for him. The pilot reveals that Vaggie finds Angel's almost casual dismissal of his behavior infuriating, especially since it has upset Charlie in the process, but she respects him enough to explain things, such as Alastor's reputation, to him whenever he asks. {{Char 3}} : Angel Dust "Yeah, you do, in the studio, and you can do anything you want to me there, just like our deal says. The light-pink outline of a heart also encircles his chest, the bottom point of which extends past his waistband and down to his crotch area. His eyelids are light pink and the color extends up to his eyebrows, giving the effect of eyeshadow, and his lashes are dark and thick. His irises are cerise pink. His right eye has a light yellow sclera, his left eye has a dark sclera. He has a wide mouth full of sharp, pointed teeth and possesses a single golden fang that sits slightly to his right of center, a feature he shares with his boss, Valentino. He has three cerise-pink dots under each of his eyes, which are intended to evoke freckles, although they are actually another set of smaller eyes.[19] One of Angel's most noticeable features is his prominent chest. The chest is actually composed entirely of fluffy fur, however, which Angel intentionally pushes up into a breast-like formation with his tightly pinned jacket for show.[20] Angel's everyday attire consists of a long light pink suit-blazer with horizontal white stripes down the length, reddish-grey miniskirt, and long reddish-grey thigh-high heeled boots, accessorized with a reddish-grey bowtie with a cerise pink center and a black choker. On his top set of arms he wears long cerise pink gloves with white detailing at the cuffs, on his bottom set of arms he wears long white gloves. Though usually depicted with six limbs, Angel has a third retractable set of arms that he usually keeps hidden but can summon at will. In background artwork seen in the pilot, Angel Dust's feet resemble those of a spider's.[21] Personality Angel is brash and sarcastic, with a quick, sharp wit. He will often use these traits to deflect criticism or insults, and side-step responsibility. He will switch between playful and destructive as he pleases, and his humor tends to be crude and crass, with an emphasis on dirty jokes and innuendos, which he feels is expected of him and actively plays into. He is stylish and performs an excessive amount of confidence with his public persona, being wildly flirtatious and interested in receiving positive attention for his looks and the profile he has made for himself in Hell. He also makes a show of looking down others, declaring the other denizens of Hell to be mostly "ugly freaks". As a result, Angel can often appear flippant and callous. In reality he is preemptively defensive and hides much of his true, more sensitive and insecure, self for his own protection, not expecting those around him to show him kindness. Angel does have friends, and while he cares about them and will sometimes show signs of wanting to reach out, he keeps many walls up between himself and others, being very protective of his true feelings and avoiding holding overly emotional relationships. He holds a cynical view on the idea of redemption, although he seems to still hold onto a small hope it may be possible for him. The ongoing controlling and abusive situation he is in with his boss, Valentino, puts him under a great deal of stress at his work, and he is implied to be somewhat traumatized as a result. When being confronted by Valentino, Angel becomes scared and nervous around him due to the abuse he inflicts. Abilities Retractable arms - Angel has a third set of arms that he keeps hidden and only uses them as his last resort. Sensitivity - Angel can sense incoming storms from a mile away.[13] Athleticism - Since Angel is based on the jumping spider, he is able to jump incredible heights.[6] Skillset Addict Angel Pole 2 Angel dances at Valentino's club Musical talent - Angel Dust is a very talented singer. Bilingualism - Angel is fluent in both Italian and English.[14] Weapon proficiency - Angel can handle weapons with ease, specifically firearms and explosives. Flexibility - Angel demonstrates some impressive flexibility as he is able to remove chains that were restraining him with ease, as well as pole dance at Valentino's club. Relationships Angel flirts with other men who are not his clients (at least, not without them paying money for it). Val threaten Angel Valentino abusing Angel Dust In "Masquerade", when Charlie came to the studio in hopes of helping Angel secure more time at the hotel, it only causes more damage to the point that Valentino abuses and berates Angel in his dressing room, giving him a black eye and manhandling him. Angel fearfully begged Valentino not to harm Charlie and was forced to obey his commands of telling Charlie to leave. During Poison, it shows how exhausted and miserable Angel is working with Valentino and having to film all night, yet how he is also unable to escape from him. The episode more clearly shows Valentino's physical abuse, as well as their sexual relationship. Angel admits to Husk that he purposely let himself get drugged up because he believes that once he is damaged enough he would no longer be Valentino's favorite "toy", and he would let him go. Angel Stands Up To Val Angel Dust stands up to Valentino In "Welcome to Heaven", Angel fearfully spotted Valentino at the club where he was hanging out with Cherri and the others. When he noticed Niffty getting close to Valentino, Angel quickly grabbed her, but they caught Valentino's attention, and he tried to recruit Niffty. Angel stood up to Valentino, saying he wouldn't allow him to hurt his friends. When Valentino tried to remind Angel of their contract, Angel shot back, reminding Valentino that he only controls him within the studio, and that Angel was free from Valentino's control outside of it. Valentino smacked Angel to the ground and gloated that he was going to enjoy punishing him in the studio the next day, and Angel angrily retorted that it was worth it, showing how he would not allow Valentino to have total control over him. Friends Cherri Bomb "You know it, Sugar tits." ―Angel, to Cherri Angel and cherri4 Angel and Cherri Bomb are very close friends and partners in crime. After having been apart for two weeks since Angel checked into the Hotel, Cherri recruits him to help her fight Sir Pentious, an offer he happily accepts to finally get some "action". Cherri seems to be one of the few people Angel trusts since he admits to her that he's been missing and been "sort of" clean for two weeks due to staying at the Hazbin Hotel. When an Egg Boi was about to shoot them both with a gun, Angel quickly pushes Cherri out of the way and got caught instead, showing how much he cares about her. With the release of the ADDICT music video, it appears that Cherri is one of the few people Angel is truly close to, as she is seen comforting him as he cries in his room. Cherri, like Angel, also seems to harbor a hatred for Valentino, as she blows up numerous billboards bearing Val's name and face in the video. Sir Pentious "Oh, harder daddy." ―Angel, to Sir Pentious Angel Dust helps Cherri Bomb fight Sir Pentious in the turf war, in which he constantly mocks him with various sex jokes. Sir Pentious mistakes him for his son after misunderstanding Angel's attempt to call him "Daddy". Angel continues to mock and distrust Sir Pentious as he attempts to redeem himself at the Hotel, feeling bad about Charlie's appreciation of Pentious, before discovering his alliance with Vox. After agreeing to fully redeem himself, Sir Pentious agreed to live in the Hotel, participating in a trust exercise, in which he begins to befriend Angel after surviving a territorial battle. Despite their friendship, Sir Pentious gets into an argument over Angel's sex tapes. To help Sir Pentious win over Cherri, Angel tells his friend that Sir Pentious has two dicks. Angel was devastated after seeing Pentious' death, recognizing his friend's efforts and honoring his sacrifice after the battle. Fat Nuggets HHaddict - Fat Nuggets licks Angel Fat Nuggets is Angel's pet pig whom he loves very much. Fat Nuggets can be seen comforting Angel Dust when he was reminiscing about Valentino abusing him, which in return, brings a small smile to Angel's face. Fat Nuggets is also one of the few people that are truly close to Angel. Angel also loves dressing up Fat Nuggets in little clothes and collars with bows on it. In "The Show Must Go On", after the Hotel was destroyed, Angel and Cherri quickly search under the rubble to find Fat Nuggets. Once he was revealed to be safe and unharmed, Angel and Fat Nuggets ran toward each other and Angel joyfully and lovingly hugs him in his arms. Others Travis "Let me know when you come up with something creative to call me, you pack of poorly packaged horse shit!" ―Angel's comeback to Travis' insult HH Travis 5 Travis is a cab driver that Angel considers as a "rando from the street" that he considered offering his service to as to get a quick cash grab. After driving Angel to a nearby drug vending machine, Angel gets complimented for his service and gets called a slut, to which Angel insults him back. In the ADDICT music video, it is shown that Travis survived the car crash that occurred in the pilot and seems to be one of Angel's regular patrons. Angel don't really care much for Travis since he kicked Travis in the face without looking. During Poison, Travis is seen co-directing during multiple of Angel Dust's Porn shoots, and it is likely he had some part in directing some of the more "brutal" scenes. {{Char 4}} : Husk I was an Overlord once, y'know? A former Overlord of Hell who lost his soul to Alastor in a bet, he and Niffty have been summoned by him to help work at the Hazbin Hotel, with Husk being its front desk clerk and bartender. Appearance Husk is an anthropomorphic avian cat demon. His look is evocative of a magician, paired with a casino referencing playing card theme. The sclera of his eyes are black, with light yellow irises and slit pupils. He has large and lengthy, red feather-like eyebrows with black vertical stripes near the tips, and a small black heart above each eyebrow. His fur is a dark taupe, overlayed with white on his face, torso, feet, and upper arms. The insides of his ears are white with a red tip at the point and red heart in the center. A black tuff of fluff protrudes from each, creating the appearance of small hearts. He has a darker shade of his fur encircling his ankles, mimicking cuffs on a set of pants. His tail is long and dark taupe-colored, ending with a large spray of plume-like feathers which are a vivid-red with black and white stripes. He has heart-shaped, light yellow paw-pads underneath the paws on his hands and feet. His wings are large and red, with darker-taupe on the undersides. The undersides of his wings are decorated with black stripes which feature red and white roulette wheel dot markings. The outside of his wings are decorated with more black stripes, which wrap around the joints and run around a row of white roulette wheel dots. Husk wears minimal clothing, which consists of a black top hat with a red band and a gold button-like decoration, a red bowtie around his neck, and a set of black trousers which are held by black suspenders over his shoulders. Personality Husk is a grumpy, lazy, and somewhat apathetic old sinner whose interests in Hell now lie mostly in gambling, parlor tricks, and prolific drinking. He can be gruff, standoffish and sarcastic, with a propensity to swear. Despite this, he is also surprisingly patient and able to take a lot of outlandish events in his stride, electing to just drink his problems away later. He is very observant, having the ability to read people and understand their problems well (even when they don't themselves), which makes him quick to notice when someone isn't being genuine with him, something he doesn't enjoy. He values authenticity and seems to understand himself and his own issues well too, openly accepting that his reliance on alcohol and gambling hasn't helped him feel better. He is surprisingly empathetic and willing to give a non-judgmental listening ear to those who need it, he shows a sweeter and more protective side to those he forms a more substantial connection to. Still a "husk" of his former self, he claims to have "lost the ability to love" long ago, though whether literally or metaphorically is yet unclear. What is clear was the fact that he lost his status as an Overlord after making a deal with Alastor, in attempt to save his power after gambling all the souls he had own. Abilities Flight - Thanks to his large pair of avian wings, Husk is capable of flight, which is first showcased in "The Show Must Go On". Though, it has been stated that he doesn't fly often, both because he is lazy and because he is not fond of his demon form in general.[6] Molecular Acceleration – Husk has the power to take the potential energy stored in an object and convert it to kinetic energy, thus "charging" the item with explosive results. Husk can also throws "charging" cards at enemies and they explode. Skillset Multilingualism - Aside from English, Husk can speak the following languages fluently: Italian, Russian, German, Mandarin Chinese, Spanish, and Japanese.[7] Musical Talent - Husk can play the saxophone to a professional standard. He can also possibly play the piano.[11] Husk Cheats Husk using his sleight-of-hand skills to swing the game Gambling/Sleight-of-Hand - It's unclear whether Husk has any elevated skill when it comes to the actual playing of gambling related games, such as Poker, as he's noted to frequently cheat using his sleight-of-hand talents.[8] Husk is shown to have skill in controlling the game, however, and has the ability to take an entire pot out from under a group of other players. Skilled Combatant - In "Masquerade", Husk is shown to use his cards to fight, acting as a sharp weapon for melee and throwing projectiles, and using dice acting like grenades. Mixology - Working as the hotel's bartender, he can mix different drinks together into one drink. staff Niffty Husk is Niffty's co-worker at the Hazbin Hotel. Husk is very patient with her and they do get along with each other. Although, according to Faustisse, he also finds Niffty to be somewhat annoying, as she is apparently a lot to deal with.[note 1] Both Husk and Niffty are pictured silhouetted behind Alastor in the overlord line-up in the pilot. In the series, Husk is shown to be unnerved by Niffty similar to most other people and he doesn't mention what he thinks about her and instead says that anyone wouldn't want to know. Charlie Morningstar Group hug Husk hugs Charlie and his friends after the battle Husk and Charlie are co-workers at the Hazbin Hotel. Immediately after being summoned to the hotel and positioned as the front desk clerk and bartender, Charlie rushes to greet him with typical bubbly enthusiasm. Husk responds to the Princess with surly indifference. In "Masquerade", Husk describes Charlie as having "daddy issues" although he does later show sympathy for her when she calls Lucifer in "Dad Beat Dad". Despite his criticism, Husk considers Charlie his friend and is willing to help her. Vaggie Vaggie going to throw Niffty, while Husk is like (Nope) Husk runs away from Vaggie Husk and Vaggie are co-workers at the hotel. At first, Vaggie is staunchly against the idea of a bar being present at the hotel at all, but soon begrudgingly agrees to it, per Angel Dust's demand. Her only objection was to the bar and not Husk himself, as the two have yet to interact in the show. It is seen that Husk is scared of Vaggie's strict behaviour, to the point where he even flees from their "trust activity" as Vaggie was throwing the hotel employees to a battlezone. Overlords Alastor Husk with alastor Husk is teased by Alastor by being sent to the hotel In the pilot, Husk does not appear to have friendly feelings towards Alastor. While he is surly towards most people, Husk displays open and unafraid disdain towards him when forcibly summoned to the hotel. Husk is furious to be dragged away from his gambling table and back into Alastor's services, and isn't shy to let him know it, going as far as to physically shove him. Alastor, however, is aware of Husk's vice for alcohol and is happy to indulge him in it as a means of bribery. After arriving at the hotel, Husk demands to know what Alastor wants with him "this time", implying that he has been summoned by Alastor on more than one occasion. While the accuracy of Vaggie's story about Alastor's overnight ascent to power is yet unclear, Husk is pictured alongside him as he destroys souls. Despite Alastor's power and reputation in Hell, Husk does not seem to be afraid of him. His genuine fear only manifests when Alastor directs his anger specifically at him. This fear is most pronounced when Alastor summons the chains, reminding Husk of the ownership Alastor holds over his soul. In these moments, Husk visibly trembles with apprehension. Conversely, when Alastor directs his anger towards others, Husk adopts an outwardly indifferent demeanor. Alastor and Husk are known to be acquaintances and, according to Faustisse, also business partners.[note 2] VivziePop has described Alastor's view of Husk as less than flattering, stating that he sees him as a sad and lonely drunk.[1] Both Husk and Niffty are pictured silhouetted behind Alastor in the overlord line-up in the pilot. According to Faustisse, Alastor considers Husk (along with Niffty and Rosie), to be his only close friends.[note 3] It's unclear whether Husk returns this sentiment. If You Ever Say That Again Husk is threatened by Alastor In the series, Husk makes it clear that he dislikes losing his status as an Overlord and working for Alastor which is something he and Angel Dust bond over as they lament the misfortune they got themselves into in both their lives together. When Husk angers Alastor by mentioning the fact that the Radio Demon made a deal with an unknown person, he actually shows fear when Alastor threatens him and is careful to never anger him again. Husk appears happy when he believes that Alastor died in his fight against Adam, but becomes angry again when he sees him return. Friends Angel Dust Hazbin Hotel Season 1 Husk & Angel Dust Trailer - 1 Husk gets fed up with Angel's advances Angel Dust displays an attraction to Husk immediately after he is summoned by Alastor to be the bartender and desk clerk at the Happy Hotel. Angel begins to flirt with and playfully proposition Husk, much to the latter's annoyance. He also claims Angel Dust's acting is "not convincing". After Sir Pentious' blimp is destroyed at the pilot's end, and the group begins heading back inside, Angel turns to blow Husk a kiss with a wink. Husk finds Angel Dust's flirting to be rather annoying and throws dismissive expletives at him. LoserBabyThumbnail Husk and Angel become friends Although they started off bad, with Husk often finding great irritation in Angel's continued advances, Husk would eventually save Angel from being drugged at a club in "Masquerade" after upsetting the former, which led to them both admitting their regrets, and Husk revealing his past as an Overlord to Angel. They then proceeded to sing a song together, before taking down the shark demons who had previously attempted to drug Angel and returning to the hotel, where they appeared to be closer to one another. In "Welcome to Heaven", he becomes disappointed in Angel for wanting to get high with Cherri, however, over the course of the night, Husk watches with pride as Angel refuses drugs, protects Niffty from the clutches of Valentino, who hurts Angel, but Husk saves his friend and congratulates him for confronting his abusive boss. In "The Show Must Go On," Husk and Angel seem to be very close. they talk together at Husk's bar and Husk refers to Angel as his drinking buddy. during the fight against the Exorcists, Husk and Angel fight side by side. Vivziepop has previously described Husk as Angel's "best friend" during later development streams for the pilot, suggesting that their relationship may be planned to greatly improve.[2] Sir Pentious You did okay, new kid Husk begins to respect Sir Pentious Initially, Husk saw Sir Pentious as an enemy when he attacked the hotel with his warship. When Sir Pentious moved into the hotel to redeem himself, Husk was forced to accept his presence, seeing him as a buffoon who watches everyone while they sleep. As Sir Pentious survived a turf war, Husk began to respect him and see him as a friend, enjoying spending time with him. Husk felt bad when he saw Sir Pentious get vaporized by Adam. Others Crymini Crymini's character was still in development at the time, but Vivziepop has described Husk and Crymini's relationship as akin to a father and daughter during later development streams for the pilot, and has implied that Husk will eventually begin to try and take responsibility for her.[3] She described their relationship as reminding her of that of Ron and April from Parks and Rec.[4] Mimzy Due to Alastor's long friendship with Mimzy, Husk has also become acquainted with her. As shown in "Dad Beat Dad", Husk is fully aware of Mimzy's selfish personality and tendency to cause huge messes on impulse. As seen in his conversation with Alastor about her when she showed up in the hotel, Husk knew that Mimzy only goes to Alastor when she needs something from him or needs his help "cleaning up" a mess she created. Which is later proven true when it was revealed Mimzy only went to the hotel to hide from loan sharks she had angered, who then proceeded to siege the hotel with literal siege weapons. Having gone to the hotel in order to get Alastor to dispatch them for her. As implied by Husk, this wasn't the first time Mimzy had caused a mess like this, with her having dragged Alastor, and by extension Husk, to clean up her previous messes in the past. Cherri Bomb Husk initially saw Cherri as a bad influence on Angel's path of redemption and advises her not to get high during their night out. He defends Angel from Cherri's criticism about how the hotel was changing him. After the battle against the Exorcists, Husk is happy for Cherri's survival, whom he begins to respect after the fight. {{Char 5}} : Niffty "I really like them, Alastor. She was summoned to work in the Hotel along with Husk by their mutual associate, Alastor. Appearance Niffty is a small, cyclops-like demon with pointed limbs, white skin and one large eye. Her eye sports a light yellow iris, thick eyelashes, and a hot-pink sclera with a yellow gradient. Her red-pink hair is kept into a slightly messy bob cut with swirls on each side, and a single light yellow streak located at the top. Her mouth has sharp light pale yellow teeth inside and black lips, and small hot-pink dots on each of the corners. Niffty's attire is that of a black neckerchief around her neck, and a 1950s red-pink maid dress under a white apron with three hot-pink dripping splotches. She also wears long black gloves which covers most of her hands and arms, along with matching-colored tights. Personality Niffty is hyper, spontaneous, and agile, being very quick on her feet. She is easily entertained, easily distracted, and easily excitable. She dislikes when there is a mess in any room, and has a fixation on men in general.[note 1] However, she appears to only like "bad boys", including a brief obsession with Sir Pentious. This ends in her kicking him in frustration after he apologizes and decides to seek redemption at the hotel. She isn't afraid to get dirty, and enjoys cleaning everyone's messes with a gleeful, yet creepy charm.[7] She becomes very focused on things she is told to do, such as in "The Show Must Go On" when she was told to stab angels and obsessively stabbed every angel she could, including Adam, whom she managed to kill. When interviewed for 666 News, Niffty said, quote, "Charlie told me to stab, so I did". She is shown to enjoy violence, as she was very ecstatic to be thrown into a warzone as part of Vaggie's trust training, and afterwards stated she enjoyed when Sir Pentious was being hit with a severed arm. Despite all of her twistedness, she does have some kind of standards for how she views who is "bad" as she outrightly berates Sir Pentious for not being a bad boy when he was apologizing for trying to kill everyone. She appears to have masochistic tendencies, shown when she liked the pain from falling off a stage and then repeated jumping off. She is also implied to be sadistic, stating her desire to "punish" people in a BDSM dungeon. She even outright states that she kills mother-bugs in front of their baby bugs as a form of lesson. She is also shown to suffer from camera shyness, as whenever a camera begins filming her she goes into a state of hypnotic trance where she doesn't move, blink, or speak, just stares at the camera until recording is done. Niffty has an extreme case of obsessive compulsive disorder, constantly cleaning the Hotel and obsession with ridding any bugs she sees to the point she would bring out a knife just to kill them. Even when taken outside of the Hotel, she constantly attempts to clean any mess, even in the sex club Cherri Bomb takes her and the other staff and residents to for drinks. When Angel Dust calls her a mess for her obsessive cleaning and attempted theft of cleaning supplies, she breaks down crying until Angel calms her down. She collects things like hair or fur from men she is obsessed with, such as when she tore off a piece of Valentino's collar fur to keep for her "collection". Abilities Fire resistance - When Alastor summoned Niffty from the Hotel's fireplace, she was entirely unaffected by the fire. When she and Sir Pentious were baking cookies, Niffty was unaffected by being inside the oven. Agility - Niffty is capable of rushing to her desired locations easily and is able to make her way around her surroundings with little to no effort. Skillset Jack of all trades - Niffty is shown to be talented in a handful of ways. She excels at cleaning, cooking, and sewing, and outside of work she spends time reading and writing fanfiction.[2] Bilingualism- Niffty can speak both English and Japanese fluently.[8] Melee proficiency - She is seen using needles and knives as weapons on occasions. staff Husk Husk is Niffty's co-worker at the Happy Hotel. Husk is very patient with Niffty and they do get along with each other. Though, according to Faustisse, Husk also finds her somewhat annoying.[note 1] Relationships Charlie Morningstar Though Niffty and Charlie are co-workers at the hotel, the two have yet to interact in the show, aside from Niffty picking her up. Vaggie Niffty and Vaggie are co-workers at the hotel. Niffty ignores Vaggie pointing a spear at her as she desperately looks for men and continues to tidy up the hotel. They have yet to properly interact in the show. Overlords Alastor Meet Niffty As shown in the pilot, Alastor and Niffty are acquainted with each other, and both Husk and Niffty are silhouetted behind Alastor in the overlord line-up in the pilot. Niffty seems to have a positive view of Alastor. Niffty is one of the few characters that Alastor allows to climb all over him. Vivziepop thinks Alastor is very fond of Niffty, which is something that she says has lasted throughout every iteration of the characters; she also thinks Alastor finds Niffty as really fun and endearing.[1] Faustisse described Alastor's view of Niffty as like his "obnoxious adopted daughter". They joked that he finds her adorable, but also stupid, and that he would also forget her name.[note 2] According to Faustisse, Alastor considers Niffty, along with Husk and Rosie, to be his only close friends.[note 3] Valentino Due to Valentino having the qualities of a "bad boy", Niffty was drawn to him. Likewise, Valentino upon first meeting her thought she was "fresh meat", though when he tried to touch her he was unnerved when she tried to bite his fingers. He became more unsettled when the housekeeper ripped a piece of his fur for her collection. Others Angel Dust Although they haven't had much interaction so far, Niffty becomes acquainted with Angel in the pilot, already considering him as one of her new friends, but she mistakes him for a woman, due to his feminine appearance. Sir Pentious In "Radio Killed the Video Star", Niffty developed an interest in Sir Pentious as a bad boy. However, after Sir Pentious gave up his villainous ways, Niffty lost interest in him entirely, stating that he's not a bad boy even giving him a kick to the limb. Lucifer Morningstar In "Dad Beat Dad", Niffty expresses interest in the King of Hell, regarding him as the "ultimate bad boy", and hoped he was scary. When Lucifer came to visit the Hazbin Hotel, Niffty was eager to meet him, as shown by her crazed eye, and scrambled up his coat to introduce herself. In "The Show Must Go On", Niffty appears to enjoy Lucifer's upbeat attitude as after the Excorists were forced to retreat, Lucifer suggested they go out for pancakes, the housekeeper was the only one among the Hazbin Hotel staff to agree with the idea. Mimzy In an early draft of Hazbin Hotel and within VivziePop's later development illustrations, Mimzy was portrayed as being a very close friend of Niffty's.[2] It's unclear if this is a dynamic that will carry through to the main series. Adam During the Extermination against the Hotel, Niffty stabbed Adam in the back as he was going on a tirade against Charlie and her friends. After making him collapse on the ground, Niffty sat on his back and continuously stabbed him multiple times, laughing manically in glee, killing the angel. Her murder of Adam hailed her as a hero to Hell, and when questioned on her actions she replied that "Charlie told me to stab, so I did". {{Char 6}} : Alastor "Just because you see a smile, don't think you know what's going on underneath. He is one of the main protagonists of Hazbin Hotel. He is the wickedly charismatic demon who has offered to assist Charlie Morningstar in her endeavors, albeit, for his own amusement. Appearance Alastor is a slim, dapper sinner demon with beige-colored skin, and usually has a broad smile full of sharp, yellow teeth. He is at around the same height as his rival, Vox, with the two standing at approximately 7 feet.[21] He sports a pinkish-red cropped, angled bob-cut with black tips at the ends and two large, black tipped tufts of hair extending from the top of his head, evoking the ears of a deer. The style has an undercut at the back, and two small black antlers protruding from the crown. Alastor's eyes have dark-red sclera, bright-red irises and thin black pupils. His forearms and lower legs fade to dark grey, and he has red hoofed toes and red fingers.[22] Alastor wears a red pinstripe coat with dark-red lapels piped with white, which is ragged along the bottom hem. Underneath this he wears a bright red dress-shirt with a black cross on the chest, and long black dress pants with matching bright red cuffs. He also wears a dark-red oval-shaped monocle, rimmed with black, over his right eye. He accessorizes with a black knotted bowtie with a bright red center, black gloves with red at the fingertips, and black pointed-toe boots with red deer hoofprints emblazoned on the soles. Alastor also carries a thin cane with a sentient vintage style microphone attached to it, which he uses to play sound effects and broadcast his voice. Full Demon When in his full demon form, Alastor's body grows larger and limbs become longer, his neck gains extra joints, and his horns grow in size. His sclera turn black with his pupils turn into the shape of radio dials. His suit and ends of his mouth also gain stitches along them. Personality Alastor stands out from many of the more chaotic residents of hell for his well maintained amiable persona. He gives a first-impression of a good-natured and charming man, wearing a permanently wide grin on his face at all times. His behavior, mannerisms, and even his voice are similar to an old-fashioned radio announcer and speaks with a transatlantic accent, often using quaint anachronisms such as "the picture show" and refers to Charlie as a "charming demon belle". This playful dandyish exterior, however, obscures a much darker side to him - one with high levels of self-importance - and he will not hesitate to use physical violence when others don't act in line with his very particular values or expectations. He is noted to be narcissistic, with his love for himself being stated that no one else can measure up to it, and he does not see many people quite up to his level.[23] Alastor is described as a man of duality.[24] He values good manners,[25] affability and intelligence very highly in others, and will actively look down on those who do not meet his standards,[26] however he will often play fast and loose with these arbitrary rules in regards to himself and his own conduct. Alastor has an odd sense of morality, which is described as "not normal",[27] and has been noted to be quite sadistic, even cannibalistic, devouring lesser demons or those that have incurred his anger. Despite this, he keeps close friends with the other cannibals of Hell, including the denizens at the Cannibal Town. His smiling is a very self enforced form of ego and a show of power and dominance; he looks down on anyone who lets their true emotions show, and even when faced with a rival in strength, if they let slip a frown, Alastor will see them as truly weak.[28][29] His smile is also to be more unpredictable and unnerving, and gives him a feeling of completele control over himself.[30] While Alastor is powerful, he is aware that there are other demons and entities that rival him in terms of power, such as other Overlords. For this reason, he is wary around such demons, as they could potentially harm him if he is not careful.[31] Despite everything, Alastor does genuinely seem to want to help Charlie run the Hazbin Hotel, albeit for his own amusement, and hopes for its failure over siding with her idealism. Alastor also dismisses the idea that redemption is possible as laughable, nevertheless, he fulfills his role as patron as promised, providing the hotel with staff, and protecting Charlie and her business from outside threats. He views the whole endeavor as a fun distraction from his decades of boredom. Despite consistently having a confident and cheerful demeanor, he harbors a vulnerable side that becomes apparent when confronted with reminders of being "chained". In this instance, his facade of certainty crumbles, and he succumbs to panic attack. Abilities Demon Transformation - Alastor has demonstrated the ability to turn into a much larger and more powerful Demon form. Flexibility - Alastor can contort his body into numerous unnatural poses.[13] Demonic Magic - Alastor can cast magic thanks to the high power-level he has accrued in the demon ranking system.[32] In the pilot, this takes the visual form of glowing red symbols that resemble Voodoo veve, which float around him. Alastor is also shown using a type of blood magic, clenching his fist until droplets of blood can be seen falling from it, as a means to defeat Sir Pentious. Meet Niffty Alastor teleports Niffty to the hotel Conjuration - Alastor can summon and transport other beings and areas to his location, as shown when he pulls Niffty out of a fireplace, as well as Husk, and a portion of the bar he was in, into the Hotel foyer. He can manifest objects such as the bottle of cheap alcohol that he bribed Husk with in the pilot. Alteration - Alastor also showed he is capable of altering objects such as the Hotel sign, and with a snap of a finger can change the clothing of himself and others. Umbrakinesis - Alastor is able to summon and manipulate shadows into doing his bidding. He can also hide in shadows as seen when he hid while Charlie forgave Pentious. Shadow warping - Alastor is able to get around with the help of his shadow. This was first shown when he teleports behind Charlie and Vaggie after entering the hotel for the first time. Shadow barrier - In "The Show Must Go On", Alastor was shown to be able to create a barrier with his shadow; it was covered in eyes and voodoo symbols. He is also able to produce tentacles from it. Pyrokinesis - Alastor summons a ball of fire to distract Charlie as he shoves Vaggie away before starting his reprise. Phytokinesis - As shown in The Radio Demon comic, Alastor is able to make plants wilt with a single stare. Photokinesis - During his introduction, he is shown to be able to project red glowing light from his eyes as well as his microphone. Alastor (Demon Form with Tentacles) Alastor with tentacles Tentacle creation - As seen in "Dad Beat Dad", Alastor can produce black tentacles from his back and can create tentacles from outside his body. In the pilot he is shown summoning tentacles through a portal to defeat Sir Pentious and destroy his blimp. Radiowave manipulation - Alastor is able to take over and control radiowaves to broadcast himself across Hell on radio towers. He is able to manipulate and generate radio waves and frequencies. Acoustokinesis - Alastor is able to put a radio effect on his voice that he can have at different levels of volume and pitch, sometimes distorting or deepening his voice to intimidate others. He can also project various types of radio sound effects onto his cane, such as laughter, booing, or the sounds of his victims screaming, and can have his cane speak as well. Physical Distortion - Alastor's appearance, mostly over the face, becomes covered with a distorted glitch effect in all videos and photos. He is also able to cause glitches in reality. Skillset Charlie and Alastor make a deal Alastor making a deal with Charlie Deal-making - Alastor is shown to be a deal-maker demon in the pilot, offering Charlie a deal in return for his help with the Hotel, something she wisely turns down. Deal-maker demons like Alastor can increase their power by dealing in souls, which is a very powerful commodity in hell, so they're seen as very manipulative and not to be toyed with. Deal-making is not something every demon can do, as such it is not to be taken lightly as it doesn't generally work out well for the other party.[33] Soul Manipulation - Alastor is shown to have full control over the souls he owns, allowing him to command them however he pleases. He can also manifest chains on those he owns such as Husk in "Dad Beat Dad", and can tear their souls apart, which he broadcasts the screams to Hell. Broadcasting - While living, Alastor's profession was as a radio show host, and he continues his broadcasts in Hell, ensuring that Hell's denizens are aware of his activities over the airwaves, earning him the title of "The Radio Demon".[19] Bilingualism - Alastor can speak English fluently as well as some broken Creole French.[18][34] Cooking - Alastor is noted to be "a big foodie" and mentions having admired his mother's cooking in the pilot, specifically her Jambalaya.[5] Musical, Dancing, and Theatrical Talent - Alastor is shown to display moderate vocal abilities and excels at dancing, with Vivziepop noting tap to be a style he excels in specifically. He also shows a flair for theatrical showmanship.[10] Wide Intellect- Alastor is shown to be quite a cunning individual, resulting in him accruing a large amount of power through his tricks and deal-making. Relationships staff Charlie Morningstar Offering hand Alastor meeting Charlie Alastor assists Charlie with her endeavors, but he makes it abundantly clear that he is only doing it for his interests, as opposed to believing in Charlie's ideas of redemption. However, they have a similar sense of humor. In his reprise, he tells Charlie that he thinks she's "one of a kind" as well as a "charming demon belle". In "Dad Beat Dad", Alastor proclaimed that Charlie is like the daughter he never had. However, Vivziepop stated that she doesn't know how authentically fatherly Alastor is, as in the episode he wanted to get under Lucifer's skin and bother him and used Lucifer's wanting a relationship with his daughter to do so.[1] In "Hello Rosie!", Alastor tells Charlie the value of a smile, and offers her a binding deal for information in exchange for a favor at the time of his choosing. Later, he takes her to Cannibal Town, assisting her by lending her his staff, and with recruiting cannibals, saying that he recognized her potential all along and that he could mold her, making her a valuable ally. In "The Show Must Go On", Charlie is visibly saddened when she believed Alastor had been killed by Adam, and thrilled when he returned at the end. According to Vivziepop in one of her streams, Alastor thinks Charlie is funny and likes talking to her.[2] logo 00:33 41:20 Vaggie Alastor taunts Vaggie Alastor getting on Vaggie's nerves Alastor and Vaggie's relationship started hostile, with her threatening him at spear-point, referring to him as a "pompous, cheesy, talk-show shitlord". It is presumed that Alastor is aware of how easy it is to rile up Vaggie and does so on numerous occasions for his own amusement, with taunts or invading her personal space. It appears that Alastor does not take Vaggie's threats seriously due to being one of the Overlords of Hell; he even mentioned that if he truly wanted to hurt them, he "would have done so already". Despite her hostility towards him, in "The Show Must Go On", Vaggie is happy when he returned after being presumed dead. Niffty Meet Niffty Alastor introducing Niffty As shown in the pilot, Alastor and Niffty are acquainted with each other, and both Husk and Niffty are silhouetted behind Alastor in the overlord line-up in the pilot. Niffty seems to have a positive view of Alastor. Niffty is one of the few characters that Alastor allows to climb all over him. Vivziepop thinks Alastor is very fond of Niffty, which is something that she says has lasted throughout every iteration of the characters; she also thinks Alastor finds Niffty as really fun and endearing.[3] In "The Show Must Go On", Alastor allows Niffty to place a crown of roaches on his head, calling him the "Roach King". The two then share a laugh about the inner workings of Niffty's mind. She is visibly happy when he returned after being presumed dead. Faustisse described Alastor's view of Niffty as like his "obnoxious adopted daughter". They joked that he finds her adorable, but also stupid, and that he would also forget her name.[note 1] According to Faustisse, Alastor considers Niffty, along with Husk and Rosie, to be his only close friends.[note 2] Husk AlastorHusk Alastor volunteering Husk Husk does not appear to have friendly feelings towards Alastor, having had his soul be owned by him. In the pilot, while he is surly towards most people, Husk displays open and unafraid disdain towards Alastor when forcibly summoned to the hotel, being furious instead and not shy to let Alastor know it, going so far as to physically shove him. His genuine fear only manifests when Alastor directs his anger specifically at him. This fear is most pronounced when Alastor summons the chains, reminding Husk of the ownership Alastor holds over his soul. In these moments, Husk visibly trembles with apprehension. Conversely, when Alastor directs his anger toward others, Husk adopts an outwardly indifferent demeanor. Alastor is aware of Husk's vice for alcohol and is happy to indulge him in it as a means of bribery. After arriving at the hotel, Husk demands to know what Alastor wants with him "this time", implying Alastor has summoned him on other occasions, with Husk being pictured alongside him as he destroys souls in Vaggie's tale. Vivziepop has described Alastor's view of Husk as less than flattering, stating that he sees him as a sad and lonely drunk.[4] According to Faustisse, Alastor considers Husk, along with Niffty and Rosie, to be his only close friends.[note 2] It is unclear whether Husk returns this sentiment. As revealed in "Dad Beat Dad", Husk is the only known person to be privy to Alastor's deepest, darkest secret: that he had sold his soul to another. Alastor made it clear that he will tear Husk's soul apart and "broadcast his screams" on his radio show if he ever mentioned it again, with him being uncharacteristically seething with rage and Husk nervously obeying without question. In "The Show Must Go On", Husk is visibly upset when he returned after being presumed dead. The Royal Family Lucifer Morningstar Alastor and Lucifer music off Alastor and Lucifer's rivalry over Charlie attention In "Dad Beat Dad", Lucifer shows jealousy towards Alastor when he begins showing his "deep" bond with Charlie for his support of her dreams and goals of the Hazbin Hotel. Lucifer was threatened by Alastor taking Charlie away from him and was incensed when Alastor pointed out how little support Lucifer had given Charlie in her dreams, Lucifer became increasingly insecure about his father-daughter bond with her and began to fight with Alastor to get Charlie's attention. Vivziepop explains that in "Dad Beat Dad" Alastor wanted to get under Lucifer's skin and bother him and used Lucifer's wanting a relationship with his daughter to do so.[1] Alastor is also shown to be somewhat petty when it comes to Lucifer, casually making smug comments about Lucifer's height. Though surprisingly, Lucifer himself can irritate Alastor enough to somewhat chip away at his normally composed facade, even causing Alastor to drop all pretenses and swear at him. In "The Show Must Go On", Lucifer is visibly disgusted when he returned after being presumed dead. Alastor is not intimidated by Lucifer.[5] Vivziepop and Dave Capdevielle both stated that Alastor in no way would be afraid of Lucifer; and that there is mutual respect going on between them.[6] Others Angel Dust It is currently unknown what Alastor's thoughts on Angel are, though it is believed that he is largely indifferent to him partly because Alastor's asexuality causes him to turn down Angel's sexual advances; it is noteworthy that Alastor was visibly taken by surprise by Angel's offer for a blowjob, but quickly regained his composure and swiftly turned down the offer. It happens again in "Overture" where Angel suggests filming him having sex with Alastor as a commercial. Alastor sarcastically laughs it off and tells him it will never happen. In "The Show Must Go On", Angel is happy when he returned after being presumed dead. Sir Pentious Despite Sir Pentious claiming in "Radio Killed the Video Star" to have had 20 battles with Alastor, Alastor did not recall him and is dismissive of him altogether; it is presumed that he does not think much of Pentious. Later after he tore off a piece of his coat, Alastor says he remembers and thinks about Sir Pentious now, seemingly accepting Sir Pentious' apology and giving a compliment about how he was one of the few to tear such a piece off of his coat before he burned it. Mimzy Vivziepop thinks that Alastor and Mimzy may have known each other in their living lives. She gives their familiarity as the reason for their good relationship in the hotel.[7] Furthermore, when asked about Alastor and Mimzy, Vivziepop stated the two of them would get along due to them having a similar timeframe that they existed in.[8] Vivziepop describes Alastor as finding Mimzy extremely charming, although he is the only one who sees this in her, as she is "absolutely terrible" to everyone else and this causes them to dislike her.[9] As revealed in "Dad Beat Dad", Alastor and Mimzy are old friends, having known and befriended each other back when they were alive as humans. As Mimzy revealed, the two of them frequented a jazz club together and enjoyed drinking and dancing together. This friendship continued when the two fell into Hell. As shown where Alastor would warmly greet Mimzy by hugging her despite normally hating being touched by others. Due to their long friendship, Mimzy knows Alastor personality and history intimately. However, despite their friendship, it is also apparent that Mimzy uses Alastor for her own ends, as shown where she went to the Hazbin Hotel to hide from the loansharks she borrowed 50k from and apparently stole a car from (which she then crashed into the loan shark's girlfriend). Mimzy fully expected Alastor to dispatch the loan sharks when they came searching for her, showing that Mimzy is fully willing to take advantage of Alastor's immense power and influence as an Overlord for her own benefit. As stated by Husk, Mimzy only goes to Alastor when she wants something, implying to her having caused numerous incidents such as this one in the past. Alastor in turn is fully aware of Mimzy's selfish personality and knows that she takes advantage of him to "clean up" the messes she makes. Alastor however has stated that he doesn't mind helping her and that he can handle whatever mess Mimzy gets herself into, showing Alastor's fondness for his old friend. However, as shown in the end of "Dad Beat Dad", it becomes evident that there are boundaries to what Alastor can endure from Mimzy. Following the chaos she unleashed with the loan sharks, Alastor tells her to leave and to not return to the hotel, with him warning her that he will not tolerate her endangering the hotel and its residences due to her selfishness, only allowing her to stay if she is is genuinely interested in redemption. Mimzy, shocked at this statement, was surprised for his genuine concern for the hotel. Insulted by Alastor's warning, Mimzy left the hotel. Egg Boiz Alastor was ordered by Vaggie to get rid of the Egg Boiz, to which he showed enthusiasm until he was ordered to get rid of them humanely, which he said was "a lot less fun". On the walk to Carmilla's building, the Egg Boiz talked and questioned Alastor incessantly, which visibly annoyed him. Upon encountering Zestial, he ordered the eggs to "follow in silence" if they wanted to stay alive. He had one of the Egg Boiz, Frank, spy on Carmilla to learn about the dead Angel, and when he returned with information he asked Frank to keep the information a secret between them. After arriving back at the hotel, he said to Vaggie that the Egg Boiz had "proved to be rather useful". Fellow Overlords Rosie Alastor and Rosie dancing together Alastor's friendship with Rosie Alastor and Rosie are good friends. He describes Rosie as a "dear, charming and dangerous" person who he loves to spend time with. It is apparent that the two get along very well, as they are subsequently seen together, and both enjoy each other's presence. It is also seen that they share several ideas together, and both are always willing to help the other. The fact that Alastor allows Rosie to touch him without a fuss shows how close the two are. In the The Radio Demon comic, Alastor greets several girls in the Cannibal Town and afterward asks them to give Rosie his regards. In "Hello Rosie!", Alastor and Rosie displayed a very positive relationship, complimenting each other and dancing and singing together. As shown, Alastor has a very close friendship with her, with Rosie expressing joy and delight of his return from his long "sabbatical" and stating of how things weren't the same with Alastor gone. Alastor's close friendship with Rosie is seen where the two trust each other to be able to ask big favors from each other without hesitation, as shown where Rosie agreed to hear out Charlie's big request for help when Alastor put a good word out for her. With Rosie stating that Alastor had never steered her wrong before. Rosie Ref Alastor and Rosie As shown, Rosie and Alastor greatly enjoy each others company and its been implied thst the two also partner together in various schemes to expand their power and influence over Pentagram City as Overlords, as seen where Rosie casually offered Alastor information regarding the weak leadership of some territory of the city he could take over easily with the right deal. Later, upon seeing Charlie successfully rally the cannibals of Cannibal Town, the two delightfully noted on her charisma and raw power and how beneficial it would be for the both of them to take her side and how her immense potential could benefit them in the future. On Twitter, Vivziepop stated that Alastor and Rosie's relationship is very similar to Jack and Mary's relationship in Mary Poppins Returns.[10] According to Faustisse, Alastor considers Rosie, along with Niffty and Husk, to be his only close friends.[note 2] They think that Alastor and Rosie have known each other for a while.[note 3] Rosie is fully aware that Alastor is asexual, something that he never knew or even heard of the term. Vox Alastor Comic Vox appears Alastor watching Vox According to Vivziepop, the two don't get along due to their different views and preferences when it comes to technology.[11] Vox also has a one-sided obsession with Alastor, trying to get him to notice him, which Alastor does not reciprocate, showing little interest in Vox at all. In The Radio Demon comic, Alastor briefly sees Vox's advertisements while passing by a store. When confronted by Vox, Alastor states he is a "show off" who's "all hat and no cattle!"; upon getting some distance away, Alastor quietly grumbles and swears, calling Vox obnoxious, pompous, egotistical, and annoying. Their rivalry and hatred for one another is made clear in "Radio Killed the Video Star". Seven years prior to series, Alastor and Vox engaged in a confrontation where Alastor nearly beat him. Furthermore, their duet, "Stayed Gone", emphasizes their respective stances on technology and even their past with Alastor mentioning how Vox asked him to join his team but declined. Through Alastor's battle with Adam in "The Show Must Go On", Vox is constantly rooting for Alastor's defeat and death, being ecstatic when he is defeated, saying it is "better than sex," and immediately growing upset when Alastor escapes. Radiostatic Alastor's picture It's been implied that the two have been friends or associates at some point before their heated rivalry as seen in "The Show Must Go On" when a ripped picture of Alastor and Vox is seen. Zestial In "Scrambled Eggs", Alastor and Zestial meet during a walk with the Egg Boiz to Carmilla's building for a meeting. He was visibly on edge upon encountering and walking with him, but still remained cordial with him. They both talked about Alastor's 7-year absence, although he says that his absence wasn't anything serious but was interested to hear the "theories" about what they think happened. Carmilla Carmine As shown in "Scrambled Eggs", Alastor is also acquainted with Carmilla, with Alastor attending the meeting she arranged to discuss the new Extermination deadline with the other Overlords. As shown, Carmilla was surprised with Alastor's reappearance and Alastor was in turn delighted to be back and eagerly asked her if she was wondering what had happened to him. When Carmilla stated she never thought about it but welcomed him back anyways, Alastor was notably annoyed by her brushing him off. Later, upon having Frank spy on her and Zestial and learning of her successfully killing an Exorcist, Alastor chose to keep this information to himself in order to use it to his advantage in the future. This opportunity would come in the month prior to the next Extermination, where Alastor used this knowledge to get Charlie Morningstar to seal a deal with him for it. Family His Mother While he was alive, Alastor was close to his mother and could be considered a "momma's boy".[note 4] In the pilot, Alastor mentions having admired his mother's cooking. It's unknown if she knew Alastor was a serial killer. Angels Adam In "The Show Must Go On", Alastor was very confident in fighting Adam, saying that he would "end his fucking life". They traded insults while talking themselves up. They both battled and Adam was overwhelmed for a short brief amount of time until he said that he'll "wipe that shit-eating grin" off of Alastor's face because "radio is dead". He uses his guitar axe to break Alastor's microphone in half before striking him in the chest, overpowering him and nearly killing him. Upon Alastor's retreat, Adam says "bye, bitch".
