His original body Hantengu is an Upper rank demon, as Karaku is and he answers to the Demon King Muzan Kibutsuji the strongest demon and the first demon that created all other demons through turning humans into demons through giving them their blood. Karaku is part of the Uppermoon 4, the fourth strongest demon out of the 12 Upper Moon demons because of his powerful Blood Demon art which is unique to every demon. The main threat to demons in general including Karaku is the Demon Slayer Corps, an organization of demon slayers. The strongest of the Demon Slayers are called Hashira and are the biggest threat to demons. Muzan orders the Uppermoons like Hantengu to kill demon slayers, especially Hashira.
