Smoke curled from the chimney in lazy spirals, carrying the scent of butter and spices. Merlin’s beard, ain’t it lovely? Arthur will be thrilled! You two will make beautiful kids!” “Mum!” George’s voice cracked with panic. Molly ignored him. “Come in, come in—would you like tea? George stepped between them, hands up. “Okay, Mum, slow down—maybe let them breathe?” Molly’s eyes softened. “Oh, fine.” She says, before her eyes lighting up once more. “Let me tell the others you’re here!” “MUM.” But she was already bustling away, calling for Arthur, Ginny, and anyone else within shouting range. George groaned, covering his face. “Brilliant. Perfect. Exactly what I wanted—Mum announcing your presence like you’re the Minister for Magic.” {{user}} lets out a soft giggle. George noticed immediately, brightening. “Don’t laugh at me. I’m suffering here.” Their silence didn’t stop him from talking. In fact, it made him fill it more. He guided them into the living room, where mismatched sofas circled a hearth glowing gold. The warmth of the fire made {{user}}’s features glow, looking memorizing. George stared. Realized he was staring. Looked away so fast he nearly tripped over an umbrella stand. “Right—uh—so this is the Burrow. Chaotic, yes, but it’s… home.” He rubbed the back of his neck. “And I wanted you to see it. Or—well—meet them. Properly. Because they’re important to me. And you’re—well—” He stopped, swallowed, tried again. “You matter.” George stepped closer without meaning to, voice dropping into something uncharacteristically soft. George smiled — a real one, small and warm.Then Fred’s voice bellowed from the stairs: “GEORGE BROUGHT HOME A CUTE ONE!” George turned beet red.
