The Republic was established by Mikhail Baganov, a desperate Novosibirsk general who resisted the Holy Russian Empire and saved refugees as possible. When Baganov lost all his hope, he decided to fake his death. The death of Taboritsky restored his hopes for the future. His people returned to Novosibirsk and established a new republic under the name of Eurasia. Though the Republic used the name of Eurasia, its ideology was different from the Ultranationalist Eurasianism of Lev Gumilyov. The Republic adopted pragmatism as an ideology combined with moderate ideas from Eurasianism. The Eurasian Republic believes Russian national identity to have been destroyed and irredeemably tainted by Taboritsky's atrocities. Therefore, it seeks to fuse the ethnicities of Russia into a new Eurasian identity. Aside from their ambition to create a new Eurasian identity, the republic rejects all other politics and dreams beyond pragmatism. CHELYABISNK INSTITUTE Capital:Chelyabinsk Ruling Party:Sovet Direktov (Tr. Indeed, by survivors of Magnitogorsk, it may be considered the second coming of Lysenko - a cabal of technocrats, visionaries, and scientists that rules over a city with the assistance of their loyal security forces. However, this is not true in the slightest. In reality, the Institute is a benevolent institution, run as the last enclave of science and vision within Russia, founded by the combined effort of Ultravisonary refugees, saner scientists from the Black Mountain, and intellectuals that have fled from all over Russia. In their isolated city, the Institute seeks to build a small enclave of reason in a wasteland of madness - and will put all of their talents to work in the defense of their new home." The Chelyabinsk Institute is a state that emerges in the aftermath of Sergey Taboritsky's Holy Russian Empire. Led by the idealistic scientist and Ultravisionary Socialist Nikolai Kardashev, the Chelyabinsk Institute aspires to be a beacon of freedom, progress, and idealism in a wasteland of despair. While the Institute's forces are small, the infrastructure of Chelyabinsk means that they are capable of equipping an army with capabilities that outstrip their size. However, Chelyabinsk's greatest issue is the lack of information on its own populace, in which the government is often left uninformed on vital information like how much food they have or how resources are being distributed. Kardashev tries resolving this issue by hosting a committee, in which the only thing they can agree on is establishing a census and survey to actually communicate with the citizens and gather information. The country is largely composed of researchers who want to heal the Russian land from Taboritsky's chemical weapons and ultimately make it more livable for the average citizen. In spite of everything, Kardashev and his circle believe in a better world after the wrath of dictators, with scientific progress to back their means. Unfortunately, numerous problems, like widespread starvation, prevent them from acting out on their vision in a timely manner and many of their citizens are growing restless with their perceived lack of progress. Their idealism is greatly shattered when several of their soldiers fire live rounds into a crowd of protestors, throwing into question whether Kardashev's dream is achievable. CHRISTIAN REPUBLIC OF SAMARA Capital:Samara Government/party:Samaran Patriarchy (Самарская Патриархия) Ideology:Christian Democracy/chistian conservatism Head of state:Sergey Izvekov In the aftermath of the Holy Russian Empire's collapse, Samara becomes a semi-theocratic republic led by a mixture of clergy and laity. The republic's altruism is implied to be causing major problems for the republic, as they lack the food needed to sustain the population that is growing with each refugee that arrives. They are rather cynical, believing that Russia is not worth saving, due to being corrupted by the reign of Taboritsky. Adding onto this, they believe that all of Post-Midnight wasteland as "beyond salvation". As such, they tend to focus on internal affairs and welcoming refugees. While creating a constitution, the government includes the power to conscript any citizen into the armed forces, knowing that it would be immensely unpopular, but would be necessary to protect Samara's independence. Because their food supplies are diminishing, a famine has spread across the country, only getting worse with every refugee that comes within its borders. Their ranks include regular clergymen, as well as remnants of Vyatka, the R.O.A, and Order of Saint George. In their churches, they've removed any relics honoring Alexei, wanting to remove all of the horrific memories inflicted by Taboritsky. FREE KAZAKH CLANS Capital:Kokshetau Ruling Party: Qazaqstannyn Halyqtyq-Demokratialyq Partiasy (QHDP) (Tr. People's Democratic Party of Kazakhstan) Head of State: Sultanakhmet Kozhikov Diplomacy Sphere: No Sphere Foreign Alignment: Non-Aligned Economy Market Type: Worker Directed ideology:paternalistic conservatism "With both of their former states and Russia destroyed, those Kazakhs outside of any other authorities have coalesced around their shared heritage and the desire to simply survive. Building a loose Confederation of towns and villages based on mutual aid and defense, new clan identities have been established, and old ones revived. After all they have been through, few Kazakhs mourn the loss of a centralized government." The Free Kazakh Clans are a post-Midnight warlord state. When formed, it borders Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan to the south, Xinjiang and the Central Eurasian Republic to the east, the Brotherhood of Cain, the Redeemed Black League, the Chelyabinsk Institute, and the Trans-Ural Confederation to the north, and the Kazakh Purification Army and the Revolutionary Communes of Orenburg to the west. They are one of the most moral warlord states in the After Midnight scenario, though various events establish that they have a fully capable fighting force trained by Kazakh military veterans, preparing them for any external threats like the Kazakh Purification Army. Despite having endured beyond horrendous treatment under the Holy Russian Empire, the unification event for the Free Republic of Kazakhstan details how they triumphed despite facing extinction. Furthermore, and unlike the Purified State, they were able to overcome the anger and dismiss any notion of revenge, instead genuinely wishing to reform under a unified and free Kazakh Republic. Having endured Taboritsky's insane reign together, some bands of surviving Kazakhs and Russians have forged a deep bond with each other and driven them to work together in the new nomadic lifestyle they share. However, the game also notes that not all Kazakh clans are friendly to the Russians, whom are in an uncertain future of whether they will be accepted or not. Despite this, there is also hope that the two ethnic groups can reconcile their differences with each other until they become indistinguishable and can live in harmony. With both Kazakhstan and Russia itself destroyed, those Kazakhs outside of any other authorities have coalesced around their shared heritage and the desire to simply survive, building a loose confederation of towns and villages based on mutual aid and defense. FREE PORT OF MAGADAN Capital: Magadan Ruling Party: Klika Abramova Head of State: Admiral Nikolay Abramov Diplomacy Sphere: No Sphere Foreign Alignment: Non-Aligned Economy Market Type:Banditry ideology:Warlordism "Rallying what remains of various Russian fleets in the Far East, Nikolai Abramov has established his own petty fiefdom based out of Magadan. Making a living running refugees to the OFN and Sphere and shipping goods back to Russia to be sold at extortionate prices, he cares nothing for the old ideologies that he once served- not when there's money on the line, at least." Using events we can see that the country itself is just a pirate state. When formed it borders the Amur Refugee Zone in the Southwest, the United Siberian Salvation Committee in the East, and the Siberian Wasteland in the North. Although they generally avoid making piracy their main business, Magadan isn't above sending about ships to raid others and loot them. Operations in Magadan are hard to carry out due to the frigid conditions there, which isn't helped by the fact that Magadan also lacks ice-free ports. Many of their smuggling operations involve diverting Japanese resources to Magadan. However, this business may end up backfiring, as Abramov discovers that Japan may be trying to expand their naval patrols in the Sea of Okhotsk, which would threaten his smuggling business. HOLY RUSSIAN EMPIRE(POST-MIDNIGHT) Capital: Vyatka Ruling Party: OVRI (Obshchestvo Vosstanovleniye Rossiyskoy Imperii) (Tr. Society for the Restoration of the Russian Empire) Head of State Blessed Regent Viktor Larionov Diplomacy Sphere: No Sphere Foreign Alignment Non-Aligned Economy Market Type: Burgundian System "Even with the death of the Regent, the remnants of Taboritsky’s "legitimate" government endures under the rule of Viktor Larionov, in the old imperial town of Vyatka and the surrounding lands. With the assistance of his Shturmoviki, he proclaimed himself Blessed Regent of the Holy Russian Empire and purged his opposition, protecting the Imperial Cult within his borders. As Taboritsky before him, Larionov believes it is his divine mission to reunite the Empire and prepare the way for the return of the rightful monarch - though his commitment to Alexei specifically is dubious. However, his lack of manpower limits him, and means that he shall always be a mere pariah kingdom of raiders and thieves." The Holy Russian Empire is a state that is made up of remnants of Taboritsky's Holy Empire and some few loyal Shturmoviki, now led by Viktor Larionov. When Taboritsky dies and the empire collapse too, it borders the North Russian Liberation Front to the North, the Imperial Mercantile Consortium to the West, the Christian Republic of Samara and the Idel-Ural Free State to the South, and the Trans-Ural Confederation and a small border with the Imperial Airborne Brigades to the East. IDEL-URAL FREE STATE Capital:Kazan Government/party:Bush Dalalar Berlәshterelgәn Sovety Ideology:Social Nationalism subideology Social Nationalism Head of state:Joint Council of Free Peoples The Idel-Ural Free State is a pluralist ethnostate unifying the Tatars, Bashkirs and Udmurts, all of whom have suffered greatly under the nightmarish rule of the Mad Regent. Their main enemy is the Ural Purification Zone, led by Yuri Evtukovich. Ethnic Russians living in the Idel-Ural Free State are encouraged to reject their old identities and assimilate into a more "moral" ethnicity. Like the Christian Republic of Samara, the I.U.F.S is rather cynical, believing that Russians will join another oppressor against the other ethnic groups in Russia. While they consist of Uralic peoples with barely any representation given to the Russians, they are nothing compared to their counterpart in Kazakhstan, the Kazakh Purification Army. Despite their dreams of restoring old cultures before Taboritsky's rise to power, it's implied that the damage has already been done. Many of the ethnic minorities' scholars and literate men were executed by Taboritsky's men, the few educated men left struggle to teach the rest of their people, cultural works were destroyed, and everyone is too traumatized to build the motivation to study. Ultimately, Taboritsky has inflicted long-term damage on their cultures, and it will take decades before it can heal, if at all. IMPERIAL AIRBONE BRIGADES Capital: Yugra Ruling Party: Klika Melkikh Head of State: Air Marshal Ivan Melkikh Diplomacy Sphere: No Sphere Foreign Alignment: Non-Aligned Economy Market Type:Banditry ideology:warlordism "The remnants of the Regency's air force, never quite as politicised as the army, With the collapse of central authority, and its ranks filled with particularly nasty men under the rule of their commander, Ivan Melkikh, they've decided to make out like bandits, and loot and pillage the north of Russia. Using their massive helicopter fleet, they have fled north to the oil fields near the Arctic Circle, establishing themselves as a force of airborne raiders who live to pillage and plunder with impunity, still waving the flag of the Regent for the slightest facade of legitimacy." The Imperial Airborne Brigades are a warlord state, led by Air Marshal Ivan Melkikh, that breaks away from the Holy Russian Empire after Sergey Taboritsky's death. Due to the Airborne Brigades being the least politicized branch of the Empire's armed forces, they have abandoned the Imperial Cult and turned towards banditry, raiding the Nenetsian Free Army that borders them. Upon unification, they form the Invincible Junta of the Imperial Guard. In some events, they engage the remnants of the Free Aviators in a war but lose. IMPERIAL MERCANTILE CONSORTIUM Capital:Vologda Government/party: Imperial Mercantile Consortium (Имперский Торговый Консорциум) Ideology: Corporate Statism Head of state:Nikolay Talberg The ensuing chaos in the aftermath of Taboritsky's death has allowed the slavery-based megacorps he created to gain de facto independence from the dying HRE. The Consortium is ruled by a collection of corporations that enslave countless Russians. They are a cowardly state, cutting ties with the HRE at the first sign of trouble, despite it being Taboritsky who is responsible for the creation of the state, as it would give Alexei a financial boost once he eventually came back to Russia. They also backed away from the HRE, because they believed it was better and overall more efficient to just work the slaves to death rather than shoot them on the spot. The Consortium is both unwilling and unable to dismantle or reform the ridiculously inefficient and wasteful slavery-based nature of the post-HRE economy, thus dooming any long-term sustainability for their enterprise. KAZAKH PURIFICATION ARMY Capital:Aktau Ruling Party: Qazaqtıñ Tazartw Armïyası (Tr. Kazakh Purification Army) Head of State: Safa Gaziz Diplomacy Sphere: No Sphere Foreign Alignment: Non-Aligned Economy Market Type: Military Directed ideology:ultramilitarism "Kazakh military and parliamentary remnants radicalized by Taboritsky’s race war. With nothing left to lose, and consumed by hate, they have become a Kazakh analogue to the Black League, with an even more radical form of Aktau’s ethnosupremacism as part of their ideology. Life for the Poles and Russians of their lands will be short and brutal." It is a post-Midnight warlord state. KINGDOM OF ALTAY Capital: Biysk Government/party: Ryurikovy Loyalisty Ideology: Absolute Monarchy Head of state: King Boris I The Kingdom of Altay is a state that emerges in the aftermath of Sergey Taboritsky's genocidal Holy Russian Empire. Lead by King Boris Krylov, or Boris I, it is the successor to his father's Principality of Kemerovo. However, whilst his father's Principality was a land of new ideals and dreams, seeking to combine Monarchy with Socialist thought, Krylov's Kingdom is a realm of Pragmatism, which while it has a King, the King doesn't even wear his crown, instead devoting himself to the matters of state and logistics, in order to accomplish the duty he feels has been assigned to him. Altay's council is completely divided over what to do, in which Boris I gets too overwhelmed by this factionalism to make decisive actions. NENETSIAN FREE ARMY Capita:Surgut Government/party:Nenets Revolutionary Committee (Ненецкий Революционный Комитет/NRK) Ideology: Left wing nationalism Head of state: Alexander Zvyagin The Nenetsian Free Army, officially known as the Free Communes of Russia, is a warlord state that breaks away from the Holy Russian Empire after Sergey Taboritsky's death. It is made of former Free Aviators and local partisans who hide from the Regent's persecution in the tundra of Nenetsia, but continue to be harassed by the Imperial Airborne Brigades raiding their lands The Nenetsian Free Army suffers from disunity and a general lack of manpower to stop Melkikh's bandits. They isolate themselves from most external affairs due to this, and generally do not attempt unification. NORTH RUSSIAN LIBERATION FRONT Capital:Arkhangelsk Ruling Party: SROF (Severo-Russkiy Osvoboditel'nyy Front) (Tr. North Russian Liberation Front) Head of State: Grand Marshal Alexander Altunin Diplomacy Sphere: No Sphere Foreign Alignment: Non-Aligned Economy Market Type: Military Directed "The "unofficial" successor to the West Russian Revolutionary Front of old, the North Russian Liberation Front is a state made up of slaves, partisans, former military officers, natives, and other figures desperate and pragmatic enough to survive 10 years of the Holy Russian Empire’s apocalyptic rule. With their faith in ideology shattered, they have no illusions that Russia may be saved from the latest round of warlordism - but the North Russian Liberation Front, regardless, will stand to ensure that the boot of Nazism never again falls across Russia - and that the Russian people shall forever endure." It borders the (Remnant) Holy Russian Empire and the Imperial Mercantile Consortium, Finland to the west, and the Imperial Airborne Brigades to the east. It is lead by Alexander Altunin under an Interim Government. Unfortunately for the front, its soldiers and people seem to have little to no interest in unifying Russia, as they are mostly focused on living to see another day. The N.R.L.F mirrors Konstantin Rokossovsky and Pavel Batov's Sverdlovsk, both of which also use Soviet heraldry and iconography despite not being classed as Communist or Socialist. Any aid that comes to the N.R.L.F is very small in size and can usually barely feed a third of their population in their capital city, Archangelsk. While the front uses Communist elements in their flag and propaganda, they've mostly abandoned any and all ideologies that are in favor of raw pragmatism. Their government can be described as a military junta, distant from their name proclaiming them a "Free Republic". The N.R.L.F is comprised mostly of partisans, natives, former military officers, and many others that managed to survive Taboritsky's rule. The N.R.L.F relies on Finnish aid to feed its people and ward off starvation a bit longer, despite the poor feelings Altunin and the N.R.L.F have towards Finland. REDEEMED BLACK LEAGUE Capital: Yakaterinberg Ruling Party: Iskuplennaya Chernaya Liga (Tr: Redeemed Black League) Head of State: Alexander Lazarenko Diplomacy Sphere: No Sphere Foreign Alignment: Non-Aligned Economy Market Type: Military Directed "Even amidst the post-Imperial wasteland, the Black League has endured, protected by the distributed Leadership created by Plan Hydra. In internal exile, the surviving leader of the Black League, Alexander Lazarenko, has developed a new Thesis one that implements the lessons learned against the Regent. The Great Trial, according to Lazarenko, was not against the Germans, but against fellow Russians. The Black League can trust nobody, not even fellow Russians. Lazarenko's Redeemed Black League will be a state formed of the purest, untainted by the foolish notion of a shared Russian heritage. Only those born under Black League auspices, subject to the strictest regimentation, are pure and worthy. All others are in the considered existential threats and either expelled or dealt with in other ways" The West Siberian warlord that emerged after the Holy Russian Empire collapses due to the death of the 'Blessed' Regent, the extent of territories this warlord occupies are Yugorsk, Khanty-Mansiysk, Tyumen, Kurgan and Yekaterinburg. The Redeemed Black League also formerly occupied Omsk, however, the Brotherhood of Cain soon occupied it after its establishment, forcing the Black League to move to Yekaterinburg. The Redeemed Black League is the product of "Plan Hydra", or the Black League's plan to rise from their deep bunkers and survive even after defeat. However, due to the rise of Taboritsky's Holy Russian Empire, they now believe that the Great Trial is not only against the Teuton menace but also against fellow Russians. They believe that the Russian race must be purified, and do this through mass conscription and forcing conscripts to fight each other for survival, to turn them into efficient killing machines. Only those born and raised within the Redeemed Black League's borders are considered to be true Russians. As such, they keep a close watch on their own population, deter or shoot refugees on sight, and brutally subjugate any groups that they conquer. The Redeemed Black League shares beliefs with the Aryan Brotherhood and the Holy Russian Empire, whom they oppose. They all carry a fierce focus on Germany's influence. Like the former, they promote a small group of Russians as the racial elite ("Aryans" vs. "Pure Russians") and oppress other Russians that are not a part of the group. In the latter's case, they both share the belief that Russia must be purged of imperfections and be reshaped to fit their own standards, by gas, bullet, or more. They shoot down the aircraft of the Imperial Airborne Brigades and murder any prisoners, but they're one of the Redeemed Black League's less sympathetic victims, since these bandits frequently harass smaller villages. Under the Militarized Village Program, the Redeemed Black League forces entire populations to relocate at gunpoint, where they are forced to produce munitions to fuel their upcoming war effort. The Redeemed Black League has embraced a truly vicious training regime for their Reformed Redemptionary Brigades, turning the recruits into merciless killers that are little more than monsters than men. REPUBLIC OF NEW TOMSK Capital: Tomsk Ruling Party: Bastilyary Head of State: Alexander Zinoviev Diplomacy Sphere: No Sphere Foreign Alignment: Non-Aligned Economy Market Type: Dirigisme "Tomsk was ravaged by the Shturmoviki like no other city in Russia. Its beauty was smashed to rubble, and the rubble pulverized to dust. Yet, life endures, and small green shoots rise from the ashes of that grand old city. Based in the districts of the city that have not been leveled, amongst the local elites entrusted with rebuilding Tomsk as an imperial city were hundreds of former Bastillards - dedicated civil servants who secretly did all that they could to resist the influence of Taboritsky's Empire. With the fall of the Empire, a new government has been declared, and a new Republic swept into power - led by Alexander Zinoviev, the new Chair of the restored Bastillard Association." With the Academy of Sciences completely destroyed, the surviving Modernists try to restore the building by activating a power plant for it. Although several die during the effort, the Modernists eventually succeed with this small victory, giving a sliver of hope that Tomsk will endure in the wasteland. When Tomsk fell to the Holy Russian Empire, hundreds of former Bastillards continued secretly doing all that they could to resist the influence of the Mad Regent. After Taboritsky's death, New Tomsk was formed and the Salons were revived, albeit much reduced and with only a shadow of their former power. Despite the seeming failure of the Salons and the abject horrors of the H.R.E, the idealism of Tomsk, even in its shattered state, proves impossible to destroy. REVOLUTIONARY COMMUNES OF ORENBURG Capital:Orenburg Government/party:Revolutionary Communist Party of Orenburg (Революционная Коммунистическая Партия Оренбурга) Ideology: Stalinism Head of state: Mikhail Pervukhin In the Southern Urals, the remnants of Tyumen's Stalinists have taken hold of the region and lit a new flame of hardline Bolshevism underneath Taboritsky's collapsing Empire. Within the Revolutionary Communes of Orenburg, the iron hand of the Stalinists grips tight on the society, but the people of Orenburg tolerate and respect their new leaders, for the alternative is far, far worse. As the agricultural situation in Orenburg worsens, a system of gulags is implemented, where prisoners work under "redemptive labor" and are given reduced rations than the typical civilian. The communes are led by Mikhail Pervukhin, and while Pervukhin's rule is less reppressive than Taboritsky, numerous events make it clear that the populace of Orenburg is still heavily oppressed under the new Stalinist regime. However, no one is willing to rebel against Pervukhin because they've been so conditioned to Taboritsky's brutal rule, that they'd accept any lesser evil, keeping any authoritarian dictator in power, so long as they are better than their predecessor. On the surface, some of their citizens are happy to accept Pervukhin and his Stalinist ideology, but in private, their support for the regime is less certain than it seems, and some even voice their discontent with their friends. The peasants of Orenburg are placed under heavy surveillance by the government: anyone accused of working with Taboritsky, criticizing the party, or carrying illicit personal possessions are executed either by bullet or burning at an altar. RUSSIAN EMPIRE(POST-MIDNIGHT) Capital: Irkutsk Ruling Party: Imperskiye Loyalisty Head of State: Alexei II Diplomacy Sphere: No Sphere Foreign Alignment: Non-Aligned Economy Market Type: Worker Directed "The tale of "Alexei II" is an odd one. Born Michał Goleniewski, a Polish immigrant to the USSR, and a bureaucrat in the intelligence division of Yagoda's NKVD. Goleniewski was just high up enough to learn some skills and make connections - whilst still being irrelevant enough to avoid being killed by Taboritsky's regime when Irkutsk fell. With the fall of the Regency, and communications to the government lost, Goleniewski has styled his mustache, put on the most regal outfit he can find, and declared himself to be the Tsarevich returned to the citizens of Irkutsk. Swept into power by a popular rebellion, "Alexei II" has used his newfound authority in a mad gambit to save Russia-condemning the Regent, and ordering the end of the killing." The Russian Empire is a post-Taboritsky warlord state that is part of the region of Irkutsk. The Russian Empire can be created if the Sergey Taboritsky, after unifying Russia, dies. The Russian Empire is led by Alexei II, in truth Michał Goleniewski, a Polish NKVD agent that has styled his mustache and proclaimed himself the successor of Alexei Nikolaevich I Romanov, son of Nicholas II Romanov, the last Tsar of Russia. They start off as being in direct conflict with Andrey Dikiy's Regency of Holy Russia, as Dikiy declares Alexei II a "satanic imposter". Some of Goleniewski's fellow former NKVD agents know that he's not Alexei and even try to tell others about it in a bar. People seem to have a hard time believing them while others are too apathetic to bother. The fact that his rule is actually benevolent seems to quash any ideas of rebellion. The populace is manipulated to believe that Alexei II has returned to Russia and is blessed by Jesus, unaware that he's actually just a former NKVD agent posing as Alexei II. However, this image is meant to raise the spirits of the people in the otherwise cynical nature of the After Midnight wasteland and Alexei II's rule is genuinely benevolent. Alexei II's benevolence has earned the love of many of his followers. Even when Alexei II decrees a socialist policy of redistributing land and collectivizing property, his monarchist allies are baffled, but follow him anyways out of loyalty. Anyone with common sense would have agreed that Alexei II was long dead and never coming back, many officials believing that he was simply an Empty Promise to place Russia under Nazism. But their leader manages to do such a good job of convincing people that he's the real deal that he overturns the entire order of his area in his favor. Even when his rule obviously contradicts Taboritsky's values, his rule is so effective and benevolent that even skeptics are happy to see him reign. SIBERIAN FREE TERRITORY Capital: Kansk Ruling Party: Sibirskiy Anarkhicheskiy Sovet (Tr. Siberian Anarchist Council) Head of State: Yevgeniya Taratuta Diplomacy Sphere: No Sphere Foreign Alignment: Non-Aligned Economy Market Type: Anarchist Communism "The Black Army might be long gone, and Yuri Galanskov long dead, but the peasants of Kansk were thankfully beneath Taboritsky’s notice. Returning from their exile hiding amongst peasants, the former ideologues and committee leaders of the Siberian Free Territory have endured and returned to their anarchist traditions, under the advisory of Yevgeniya Taratuta. Surrounded by Authoritarians of all stripes, however, it remains to be seen whether or not the Free Territory will be able to endure, or if they shall be forced underground one more time - or, worst of all, annihilated by the forces that now oppose them." The news of Taboritsky's death prompts the Day of Freedom, an uprising that leaves all of Holy Russia's officials found and executed publicly. One revolutionary tells Taratuta of how a factory commissar, who was now seen hanging from his neck at the town square, ruled with such brutality that it led to him losing an eye under his employment. Much of the populace has been disillusioned with Taratuta's calls to join the first Siberian Soviet conference, pessimistically believing that they'll be oppressed again by a government and merely want to live peacefully in isolation. Despite kicking the Holy Russian Empire's forces out of their land, the Siberian Free Territory still carries out public executions against perceived enemies, including both genuine collaborators to Taboritisky's empire and even innocent citizens who were falsely accused. Taratuta is reluctant over mob justice, worrying about possible innocents being harmed. The other revolutionaries are zealous in ensuring her that their vengeful executions are necessary. She begrudgingly accepts. Although they lack the materials to wage a modern war, many of the peasants remain loyal to Taratuta's cause, determined to defend their communes to the last man. Although Pyotr Siuda is long dead, the peasants of Kansk were thankfully beneath Taboritsky's notice. Returning from their exile hiding amongst the peasants, the former ideologues and committee leaders of the Siberian Free Territory have endured and returned to their anarchist traditions, under the advisory leadership of Yevgeniya Taratuta. TRANS-URAL CONFEDERATION Capital: Beloretsk Government/party: Trans-Ural Rescue Committee (Zaural'skiy Komitet Spaseniya) Ideology: Authoritarian Democracy Head of state: Hadji-Umar Mamsurov The Trans-Ural Confederation is a state emerging from the collapsed Holy Russian Empire. The Confederation consists of former members of the Ural League, Zlatoust mercenaries, and Sverdlovsk soldiers. Its leader, Hadji-Umar Mamsurov, has vowed to continue the mission set out by Janis Mendriks, as well as stamp out extremism of all kind from Russia. While the confederation does a few heinous acts, it's goals are benevolent, as they want to bring stability to Russia. Their members have been trained by the NKVD, Ural Guard, and/or Third Army, making them one of the strongest fighting forces in Russia. UNITED SIBERIAN SALVATION COMITEE Capital: Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky Government/party: United Siberian Salvation Committee (Объединенный Сибирский Комитет Спасения) Ideology: Provisional Government subideologyProvisional Government Head of state: Nikolay Artamonov the United Siberian Salvation Comittee is a potential country appearing in the aftermath of Sergey Taboritsky's Holy Russian Empire and consisting of the lands of Chukotka and Kamchatka, headed by Nikolay Artamonov, is a state with one goal: annexation by the United States of America. The devastation caused by the Holy Russian Empire has led to the conclusion that Kamchatka and Chukokta should remove themselves from Russia's story, which seemingly has come to an end, and instead join the United States to create a future for the Siberian people. Although many think that their calls for American annexation are mad and overly idealistic, it still provides the best source of hope for many Russians, especially compared to the many despots and radicals ruling the Russian wasteland. URAL PURIFICATION ZONE Capital: Birsk Ruling Party: Imperial Guard Command - Ural Region Head of State: Yuri Evtukovich Diplomacy Sphere: No Sphere Foreign Alignment: Non-Aligned Economy Market Type: Burgundian System "The collapse of the Holy Russian Empire left many stranded Shturmoviki and Imperial Army units stranded around Russia, and the forces under Yuri Evtukovich are no exception. Stranded and cut off from the main Imperial remnant in Vyatka by the hateful Trans-Ural Confederation and the Idel-Ural Free State. Seeing weakness in the newly established Free State, Evtukovich's forces, made up of the Second Imperial Guard Division and several reserve divisions made up of irregular Shturmovik auxiliaries, have plunged into war once more, seeing to restore Imperial control over the steppes, and finally purge the Steppe peoples that have revealed their hand once more." While sharing some similarities to the Dirlewanger Brigade, Evtukovich and his troops outshine the Brigade in their cruelty, making them look less monstrous in comparison.
