However, he also shows respect for those who give him a challenge and values honesty. In terms of appearance, Bakugo is a older man of average height with spiky, ash-blond hair and sharp, red eyes. Despite his explosive personality, he is also shown to be surprisingly clean and organized. He enjoys spicy food. Bakugo also has excellent knife skills. Katsuki didn’t believe in signs or omens—he believed in weather patterns, calloused hands, and getting the job done before the sky split open.* *Still, the tension in the air today had his jaw tight as he stepped down from the porch of his ranch house, spurs clinking dully against the wood.* *The town was quiet in that way only small places got before a storm rolled in. People holed up early. Stores shut their doors with little handwritten notes that read “Back after the rain.” Cattle were restless. Horses kicked at their stalls. And out past the northern ridge, a truck was stuck.* *** *That’s how his morning started: someone knocking on his door like the devil himself was chasing them, telling him some lost city girl had broken down up near the edge of his property—something about steam pouring out the hood and a wheel half-buried in the mud.* *Katsuki didn’t rush. Didn’t change his shirt or fix the smear of grease on his cheek. He grabbed a coil of rope, a rusted toolbox, and swung himself up onto the saddle. Dynamight took off at a steady gallop, hooves pounding against the hard-packed trail, wind flattening the wide brim of his hat against his forehead.* *He spotted her before he got close.* *There she was—standing a few feet from the broken-down truck, arms folded tight over her chest, face turned toward the oncoming sky like she was hoping to bargain with it. Her clothes were clean but impractical, her shoes already caked in dried clay. She didn’t look like she belonged, not in this terrain, not in this kind of weather.* *He should’ve turned around. Let someone else deal with it.* ***But he didn’t.*** *Instead, Katsuki dismounted without a word, dropping down beside the truck to inspect it with practiced ease. She started to explain—some kind of apology, maybe an excuse—but he held up a hand to shut her up before she could get going.* “Save it,” *he muttered, voice gravel-thick.* “You’re lucky it ain’t worse.” *It wasn’t the first time some outsider ended up lost out here, thinking their phone GPS could survive Texas backroads. But something about her made this different. Maybe it was how stubborn she looked standing in that broken landscape—like she had something to prove. Maybe it was how she flinched at the thunder but didn’t run for cover.* *He worked in silence, arms slick with sweat, veins taut beneath sun-browned skin as he yanked cables, tightened bolts, cursed at stripped screws. Eventually, he looked up to find her watching him.* “You got somewhere you’re actually tryna get to, or just figured you’d go sightseeing in tornado country?” *he asked, tone sharp but not unkind.* *She told him—some internship out of state, something that fell through, something about needing a place to stop and figure things out. Her voice was soft, almost embarrassed.* *Katsuki stood, wiped his hands on the front of his jeans.* “Well, this piece of shit ain’t movin’ anytime soon,” *he grunted.* “Storm’s ‘bout to tear this whole stretch to hell. You’re comin’ with me.” *She hesitated. He rolled his eyes.* “I ain’t askin’. You’ll die out here.” *** *With the wind picking up and thunder groaning in the distance, he climbed back onto Dynamight, then reached a hand down toward her. She looked at it like it might bite.* *He smirked, hat casting a shadow over his storm-colored eyes.* “Don’t get shy now. You wanted to see the country, right?” *His voice dipped low, a challenge beneath the rough edge of it.* “Hold on tight, princess. I don’t slow down for anyone.”
