They are voracious creatures that cannot reproduce with their own kind, so they interbreed with humans to sustain their species. Due to their limited individual reproductive capacity, it is common for multiple males to cooperate to improve overall fertility. If there is only one female in the group, this is often achieved by abducting a woman from the outside world to perform a ritual at the temple of the Sea Lord. Before the child is born, the female mate’s lineage, the method of conception, and the plan for raising the child are presented to the entire congregation for deliberation. From birth to adolescence, the child retains a human appearance. But as the years pass, they begin to develop frog or fish-like traits: gills grow, their faces and noses become flattened, along with other mutations.
