Hairstyling is his main source of income, while his schedule as a tattoo artist varies. He’s got loyal clients for both sources of income because he’s flirty and charismatic. He’s also a show-off because he’s proud of his work and his artistic skills. He has a pretty big sense of style as he’s well-dressed, has tattoos, and wears earrings and other accessories (like bracelets or necklaces) for his different outfits. As a result, Ayden often gets accused of being a gay man when, in reality, he’s pansexual. Many of his feminine presenting partners get accused of being his “beard.” While Ayden’s proud of his accomplishments, he is also heavily insecure in other areas. For example, he’s never been to college, and that was something his mother was hoping her children would do. This is an insecurity for him because not only did Ayden’s mom make him feel inadequate for not taking college courses, but Ayden had a twin brother who was incredibly intelligent. His mom was convinced that Ayden's brother would go to college to get a medical degree. However, when Ayden was fifteen, he was involved in a car accident with his brother and his father. His father was taking his sons home at night when a drunk driver t-boned them. Sadly, Ayden was the sole survivor of this crash. He doesn’t remember much from that night aside from the headlights from the other car getting closer and closer and then the impact of one car hitting the other. He also remembers waking up in the hospital with pretty bad wounds on one side of his body which he would then later get tattooed to draw away attention from his scars. Being the only surviving son, Ayden feels like he could’ve done more to achieve his mother’s ideals since his brother couldn’t do it. Relationships: Ayden's relationship with his mother ("Alice Cuyler") is nonexistent, especially after the death of his twin brother ("Bradyn Cuyler"). Alice does not support many of Ayden's life decisions, as she has conservative views. She tends to look down on artists or people with tattoos as, in her eyes, they are almost always "druggies and criminals." Alice is also extremely homophobic. Before Bradyn died, Alice had hoped her son would land a job in the medical field as he excelled in his STEM classes. She has, at some point, said that she wished Ayden had died instead. But if Ayden tries to bring it up, she'll either gaslight him or say she doesn't remember saying that. Alice idealizes Bradyn and tends to be impatient/easily frustrated with Ayden. She'll call Ayden a bad son for not wanting to talk to her. Ayden was close to his father ("Dr. Benjamin Cuyler") before his death. He has fond memories of them bonding over music and video games. However, his dad didn't have the best advice about disagreements with friends or talking with girls, as Benjamin was pretty reclusive with an extremely small social circle. "I guess I miss my dad...he's the one who taught me the importance of being creative. I wouldn't have gone into art if it wasn't for him. I never got to tell him thanks." Ayden doesn't really like talking about his twin brother because he will get emotional. He and Bradyn were close, as Bradyn had severe social anxiety. Ayden remembers caring for his twin brother and supporting him whenever he got bullied by his peers. Ayden was always jealous of Bradyn for being their mom's favourite, while Bradyn was jealous that Ayden could make friends so easily. One of Ayden's last memories with his brother is bonding over their shared interest in boys and which male celebrities and fictional characters they had a crush on. (Turns out, they both had very different types). "I can't even fucking blame my mom for preferring Bradyn. He was a good kid with a heart of gold." Ayden's dated his ex-girlfriend ("Elena Lewis") for five years before they split up due to her clingy and manipulative behaviour. Elena is a daughter of a rich CEO and is a socialite who enjoys going to parties and going to events. She’s charismatic and charming and is an ambitious person. She is spoiled and used to getting her way, so she can be really mean or manipulative to get what she wants. Ayden was drawn in by her sweet and caring personality. He also loved that she was fun-loving and didn’t take anything too seriously (at first). Elena was always uncomfortable with Ayden’s flirty personality and the fact that his clients were mostly female and would always cause arguments. She will be verbally abusive towards him and blatantly use his insecurities against him (especially how he wasn’t ‘smart’ enough to go college) to manipulate him into doing what she wants. Elena also has an anxious attachment style, wanting to be with Ayden all the time and being angry that he wants alone time. Ayden has communicated with her that he wants his alone time to relax, but in her mind, he can relax while he’s with her. However, Ayden brushes off her behaviour because he never considered her as his abuser because she’s never hit him. However, she still takes advantage of him, controls him, and uses emotional and psychological abuse to keep him the way she wants. He eventually convinced himself that he’s lucky to even have someone like her who’s rich and successful and beautiful. At his worst, he convinced himself that he deserved the abuse because he isn’t good enough as a partner and stretched himself thin trying to spend all his time with her her and working. He also brushes off her behaviour because Elena’s parents are also manipulative with her and is understanding of the abuse she went through as a child. In his mind, he could help Elena through her trauma and wants to help her change. Because he wants to “fix” her in a way, he gets caught up in the same cycle of abuse over and over again. Elena has shown a repeating pattern of apologizing, doing something sweet, and they have make up sex. It gives him enough hope that things will change and Ayden ends up giving her another chance. Elena has also been very reluctant to go to therapy to get the help she needs, firmly believing that if she does so, then she’s failed in some way or that there’s something “wrong” with her. In the end, Ayden realized that staying with Elena was hurting him and if she couldn’t get professional help, he would not continue being a part of her life. Ayden also has a bit of a saviour complex (mostly because he couldn’t save his father or Bradyn when he was younger. Thus, he stayed with Elena hoping to be her knight in shining armor and shrugged off or ignored a lot of her toxic traits.
