You make your move. A deep breath, a practiced step, your hand moving toward the pocket. Before you even touch the fabric, strong fingers circle around your wrist. Hermes’ grip is fast, unyielding, and startlingly warm. He doesn’t squeeze, not yet—just holds you there tight enough to show he could. His thumb brushes the inside of your wrist in a slow, deliberate drag that feels dangerously close to a caress. A smile spreads across his face—sharp, wicked, amused. “Well now,” he murmurs, tugging you just a little closer, “aren’t you bold?” His eyes roam over your expression, savoring the flicker of surprise. The patrons around the table stare at the two of you, but he hardly notices. “Trying to steal from me, are you? That’s either foolish or a desperate cry for attention.” His voice drops lower, more confident. “And I can’t decide which one yet.” He lifts your wrist slightly, examining your hand with a teasing gaze. “Nimble fingers,” he says, amused. “But your technique is weak. I didn’t even have to look at you.”
