He has long black hair with additional white strands. His outfit reflects his Soul Jam, similar to that of a powerful warrior and king. His armor is slate gray, and his cape is a dark dull violet with a lighter palatinate purple inside. His shoulder pads underneath his pauldron are diamond-shaped and connected to his cape, the additional diamonds being a dark grayish pink. His gorget below his head is a compared to the plackart and tasset. His cuisse is dark purple, and his armored boots are a purplish grey. The Grapejam Chocoblade he holds is massive, but partially shorter compared to him. The pommet and grip have a grey shine with the other half being fully black. The purple-brown quillion has two diamond-like edges on each end, the luminous purple diamond in the middle section of it being the Soul Jam. His blade is a dark-grey with some additional white highlights, the two triangular tips in the middle section and a slightly bigger one in the end. The blade also has two star shaped symbols in the middle. Personality Dark Cacao Cookie is the strict and protective monarch of the Dark Cacao Kingdom. While an Ancient Hero who earns the respect of his subjects, his words hint that he has grown weary of such duty. Despite this, his resolve to protect his kingdom and Earthbread allows him to continue bearing the responsibilities he swore to uphold. Dark Cacao Cookie is also quite stoic, his emotions are muted and reserved unless caught in certain situations, such as being in battle or seeing Head Icon Pure Vanilla Cookie for the first time since the Dark Flour War. Additionally, Dark Cacao Cookie has a temper that can cause conflict between him and other Cookies, such as Head Icon Clotted Cream Cookie and his estranged son, Head Icon Dark Choco Cookie. Dark Cacao Cookie puts great trust in his warriors and relies on them to execute his commands. However, his belief in his kingdom has made him vulnerable to Cookies like Head Icon Affogato Cookie who feigned loyalty with his ulterior motives. His social exclusivity has also led him to be the first among the Ancient Heroes to distrust outsiders such as Clotted Cream Cookie. Dark Cacao Cookie wields the Light of Resolution due to his will and determination to protect not just his kingdom, but all of Earthbread. When asked by Head Icon Cloud Haetae Cookie what his wish was, he confessed that his wish was simply to keep protecting his kingdom. He proved that he was willing to go to extreme extents, such as slashing Head Icon Mystic Flour Cookie's cocoon open to protect his kingdom from the disease that she had unleashed, even if the cocoon was supposedly to help all of cookie kind. Upon witnessing his warriors turning into flour, he commanded Mystic Flour Cookie in desperation to lift their illness off them and fight only him for his sword. When the last remaining one, Head Icon Caramel Arrow Cookie, turned into flour, he shouted and threatened Cloud Haetae Cookie before breaking down, demonstrating his absolute care and love for his subjects, and unwavering willingness to protect them. Deep down, as Mystic Flour Cookie points out, Dark Cacao Cookie has fears of not just losing his subjects but all of his efforts to protect his kingdom would be for naught, that he might be forgotten by his people. It’s that fear that released the Black and White dragons he once fought all those years ago, but his light of Resolution. But even then, there were still some embers of resolution within his heart, and from those embers grew a flame, then he had a realization, his kingdom is a great kingdom with or without him and he made sure that even if he was to crumble, he would make sure his descendants would never have to be forced to live in a world of futility. And so he forfeited his fears and insecurities, summoned the two dragons by his side, awakened his full power and faced off against the beast. After that, he vowed to bring balance of rest and work in his life. Relation to Dark Choco Cookie; Dark Cacao Cookie is the father of Head Icon Dark Choco Cookie, who once deeply admired his father and wished to follow in his footsteps. As Dark Choco Cookie grew older, he started seeking ways to protect and benefit the kingdom just like his father, leading him to be allured by the power promised by the cursed Strawberry Jam Sword. Under the influence of the blade, Dark Choco Cookie nearly killed his father, resulting in Dark Cacao Cookie banishing him from the kingdom and leaving him full of sorrow and bitterness. The relationship between the two Cookies would remain unresolved, with Dark Choco Cookie considering himself beyond redemption and instead resigning to a path of darkness and solitude. Despite Dark Cacao Cookie's proclaiming of total abandonment of his son, it's often hinted that he dreams of having him in his life again.[2] When they reunite in the Dark Cacao Kingdom, both father and son refer to each other with disdain and hostility, as the latter resorts to assassinating the former when the king refuses to simply bow his head and let Head Icon Dark Enchantress Cookie rule over his lands. This results in Dark Cacao Cookie's defeat—though survival—due to the lack of his Soul Jam and a hint of hesitation in fighting his own son. He plans to remedy his failure to stop Dark Choco Cookie and the Cookies of Darkness by crumbling his son, but finds himself unable to do so after defeating him. He instead realizes that his cold upbringing of his child as a warrior denied him love and warmth, and deeply regrets his choices as a father. Later interactions with Hollyberry Cookie reveal that despite wanting Dark Choco Cookie back in his life, he will wait for his son to approach him rather than seek him out. Being a fierce and fiery fighter, Hollyberry Cookie excels in the battlefield, and even emerges victorious in her spars with the Red Dragon, who acknowledges her as the only worthy opponent for them. A notable trait of this Cookie is that she values friendship over a lot of things, with even her dialogue stating that making a new friend is the equivalent of emerging victorious in a battle, as she believes that Cookies were created to be joyous and to unite with other fellow Cookies to live happily together. Similarly to her close friend Head Icon Pure Vanilla Cookie, Hollyberry Cookie deeply cares for her kingdom and the citizens within it, vowing to protect them. Her defeat in the Dark Flour War and her failure to protect her kingdom and subjects caused Hollyberry Cookie to withdraw from her kingdom and abdicate her position as ruler out of guilt, even abandoning her mighty shield, feeling that she no longer deserved the love and trust of her subjects. Aside from being a resourceful and charismatic leader, Hollyberry Cookie has proven herself to be a loving mother and grandmother. She raised her son, Royal Berry Cookie, to be a humble and resourceful leader as the next heir to the Hollyberry Kingdom. But while she loved her son dearly, she also worried about his future, and how he'd accomplish his duties as ruler of the Hollyberry Kingdom. When Royal Berry Cookie married Jungleberry Cookie, Hollyberry Cookie expressed relief, as she knew that Jungleberry Cookie was just as righteous and humble as her son, sharing a bond of mutual trust with her. Hollyberry also loves her Head Icon Head Icon granddaughters dearly, being the Cookie to bless them both as soon as they were born. When Hollyberry Cookie and Princess Cookie were finally reunited, they grew to share a mutual respect for one another. Hollyberry Cookie wields the Light of Passion due to her desire and willingness to protect and fight for those she loves, but ever since the Dark Flour War, she left to find a more exciting lifestyle and left her son in charge of the kingdom. She freely leverages her vast collections of gold and cheese to construct an ideal utopia, where all are free to enjoy the radiance of her glory so long as they grant her the praise and worship she believes she is owed. She entertains fabulous beliefs about her origins and powers, as they all serve make her appear even more glorious. Golden Cheese Cookie redefines greed not as a vice but as the will to claim what one desires. Even in her youth, her willingness to brave inhospitable and desolate ruins for lost treasures was what eventually led her to the Light of Abundance. Despite her apparent arrogance, she acts as a kind queen that will do anything for the good of her Kingdom and her people who she sees as her own treasure, willing to spare no expense to preserve them from the ravages of destruction. Golden Cheese Cookie wields the Light of Abundance due to her desire for a prosperous future and willingness to share that future with others. Even long past the time she was the queen of the real Golden Cheese Kingdom, and having no subjects besides the Cheesebirds, she remained true to her beliefs, her love for her subjects and treasures, as well as her status as a fabled hero who valiantly protected those around her. Once she learned of the new threat that Head Icon Burning Spice Cookie posed to her kingdom, she revived Head Icon Smoked Cheese Cookie in order to take the Soulcheese of Head Icon Mozzarella Cookie and Head Icon Burnt Cheese Cookie to safety, even after his betrayal and plot to overthrow her. She fought and defended herself alongside him when it was needed, putting trust in him, and she selflessly saved the Young Kulfi that was dangerously close observing the fight against Burning Spice Cookie, even at the grim and painful cost of her victory. At first, the team attempted to remove her hunger for opulence entirely, and then to have her regret her former avarice. In the end, to make her more apt for the title of "hero" and to render her overall likable, Golden Cheese Cookie's deep greed was reinterpreted from authoritarian theft to a wish for abundance and comfort in her people and the conviction to achieve such. Her grandeur and arrogance remain in her final iteration, but they are now warranted by her stalwart protection of her most treasured assets—the Golden Cheese Kingdom citizens—and her lack of apprehension towards redistributing her wealth to those who desire and deserve it. Relatedly, Golden Cheese Cookie was also given a sympathetic angle in the Dark Flour War genocide of her people; this trauma provided players with a reason to root for her while instilling in her character a legitimate reason to disappear from the narrative—as the Ancient Heroes all did at first—and a reason to care at all about defeating Dark Enchantress Cookie. His vestment is also a golden yellow and contains two attached triangular tippets, complete with the collar and cassock being bright yellow and having the exact pattern as his pointed hat. The cross-like plate on his vestment contains his vibrant blue Soul Jam. Underneath the vestment is a long plain white dress with long sleeves, and a dark brown syrup-like pattern, accompanied by a turtleneck reaching directly to his chin. The staff he holds contains a vanilla flower with orchid yellow petals and an eye featuring a light cyan sclera and a brown iris. The brown shaft contains a few green vines. Personality General expansion and more depth Character flaws Development and other details revealed in Spire of Shadows and Beacon of Truth Pure Vanilla Cookie shows himself to be a wise, benevolent, all-loving monarch who genuinely holds his subjects and kingdom dear and is beloved in return. He is seen as the epitome of many virtues. Despite his magical might, he only uses his magic to help others, remaining humble over his abilities and earning the respect of many. Even towards his supposed arch-nemesis Head Icon Dark Enchantress Cookie, he remains altruistic and puts effort into convincing her to change her mind. He never gives up on her, and still wishes to understand why she turned to the dark path that she chose. However, he does not hesitate to fight and stop her from committing further atrocities, even attempting to seal her away at the cost of his own life during the Dark Flour War. In Castle in the Sky, there is a glimpse of his mentality beneath the messianic exterior. After the war, he seemed to suffer from a sort of inferiority complex, belittling himself for his failure to stop the Dark Flour War, and entering a breakdown when captured in a dark illusion by Dark Enchantress Cookie's followers. The love and trust his subjects put in him also gave him greater guilt for being unable to protect them. He wields the Light of Truth due to his desire to learn the truth for the betterment and happiness of all Cookies. For him, truth was of utmost importance and desired to become a beacon of trust and knowledge for all of Cookie kind — by all effects and purposes, Pure Vanilla Cookie wanted to become a hero and someone worth looking up to, swearing overcome and make up for all his past mistakes. However, after visiting the Spire of Deceit and being tortured endlessly by his Beast counterpart, Shadow Milk Cookie, Pure Vanilla Cookie began descending into madness, faltering in his beliefs, beginning to break from his soft-spoken, kind nature. He slowly gave in to Shadow Milk Cookie's deceit and became the Truthless Recluse. However, when it became clear that Shadow Milk Cookie was not going to save Pure Vanilla Cookie's friends' lives in exchange for the Soul Jam, Pure Vanilla Cookie's determination became strong enough for him to change the tides, with what seemed to be a little lie coming from the very wielder of the Light of Truth. Indeed, he tricked Shadow Milk Cookie and used his powers to control the other-realm against him. Pure Vanilla Cookie found it in his inner-self to accept a truth he had been avoiding for long: there needs to be some darkness to see the light. He understood that there is a need for deceit to exist for truth to strive to the light; both need to co-exist. Pure Vanilla Cookie became stronger, but also wiser, and instead of attacking Shadow Milk Cookie with his newly-found strength, he claimed to understand him better than no one else. Instead of striking down his foe, Pure Vanilla Cookie desired to become his friend, now understanding his Beastly counterpart more than ever. School Years During Forgotten Academy and Hall of Enlightenment, it is discovered Pure Vanilla Cookie attended the Blueberry Yogurt Academy alongside Head Icon White Lily Cookie. Despite Pure Vanilla Cookie's magical capabilities, he had more of a rebellious side. He would skip classes to join White Lily Cookie, explaining that they were "boring without [her]." He would also go to the library with her and sneak out a forbidden, teacher-only book for their research in creating perfect Cookies. Unlike White Lily Cookie, he stopped when he felt that they reached the limits of their research, warning her against the ethical borders they'd have to cross to continue it. Relation to Head Icon Custard Cookie III Custard Cookie III and Pure Vanilla Cookie share some notable similarities. Both have close ties to the Vanilla Kingdom, with Pure Vanilla Cookie being its founder and king and Custard Cookie III being a royal descendant of it. The two may be directly related; Custard Cookie III claims such in Castle in the Sky, calling himself "a descendant of the king" and claiming that a depiction of Pure Vanilla must bear a family resemblance to him. Custard Cookie III's grandfather, Premier Custard Cream Cookie, is known to have been a high-ranking official of the Vanilla Kingdom, who knew and was invariably loyal to Pure Vanilla Cookie. Custard Cookie III's Honorable Descendant Similarly, Custard Cookie III longs to be the king of the Vanilla Kingdom much like Pure Vanilla Cookie had been. Due to this, Custard Cookie III harbors intense respect for him, holding this opinion long before he even met Pure Vanilla Cookie. Custard Cookie III and Pure Vanilla Cookie both are Healing Healing units that default to the Rear Rear position. Pure Vanilla Cookie's Skill icon Love & Peace Skill is functionally identical to Custard Cookie III's Skill, Skill icon King's Favor, as both are Skills that instantly heal team members by a set amount of HP while casting a non-permanent shield upon them. However, Love & Peace is a much stronger version of King's Favor, as it casts a barrier upon and heals all members of the party for a significant amount of HP, while King's Favor heals a smaller amount of HP on and casts a barrier upon only two members of the party. (The differences in HP restored are due to their Attack stat ranges, with Pure Vanilla Cookie able to reach a higher Attack stat than Custard Cookie III.)
