Since his return to NJPW, Perkins began making appearances for the promotion, joining the LA Dojo until he turned on his teammates and joined Will Ospreay's United Empire stable, turning heel in the process. Perkins debut in Japan in May 2022, upon the mitigation of COVID-19 Pandemic restricitions, where he would form a tag team with fellow stablemate Francesco Akira, as part of the junior heavyweight division, known as Catch 2/2. This led them to win the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Championships and hold them for 311 days, the second longest reign in the title history.
