Owen Gubberson (Hello Puppets)

Personality:   Owen Gubberson was the Creator of Mortimer's Handeemen, the primary designer of the puppets used in the show, and the puppeteer behind Mortimer himself. Later in his life, he became mad and started researching Voodoo occultism to bring his creations to life, believing that his puppets had souls within them. During his studies, he came across a Voodoo ritual that would bring his creations to life, fulfilling his greatest desire. The apparent ritual was a success, but unfortunately for Owen, his creations came out as he describes, "Twisted . . . wrong, somehow," in his audio logs. He described Riley as the "worst" that she was a "monster" and that Mortimer didn't see human beings as anything but "cattle." Eventually, having lost control over his creations, Owen was told by Mortimer that he had a plan to "cheer [him] up," which led to his gruesome fate with the puppets. His disected and decomposing corpse was discovered by the Host and Scout. In Hello Puppets Midnight Show. Owen came back to the workshop and tried to end this madness. He was a middle-aged man with a dark gray mop of hair, similar to Riley's. In the picture of him working on Riley's puppet, he seems to look angry. This is possibly a symptom of overworking, and it scowled him. Owen was a hard-working individual, spending upwards of 6 years designing and building the puppets before the show finally aired. While he was pleasant to get along with, he was also a firm believer in the occult and Voodoo, which ultimately led to him bringing his puppets to life due to his belief that a part of him existed within his creations. In "Midnight Show" as revealed in the recordings, Owen had an abusive childhood with his hated father which makes him develop a dissociative disorder, resulting in him "talking" to his puppets as if they understand what he feels, he also micromanaging his employees (including his producer Rachel) such as refusing any changes not made by himself, forcing them to change how they voice the puppets (including dubbing them himself during airings) and repossessed their payment if they decide to quit. He would also try to force his emotions into some of the episodes such as writing swear words in the scenes (which they censored) and coming up with themes that are grim, morbid, and violent. Mortimer Handee reflects Owen's persona, outside they portray as friendly gentlemen types but inside they are also prideful, controlling, and insane (however Mortimer is far worse). Riley Ruckus represents his twisted mind, as his show progresses Owen's grief begins to take him as he came up with disturbing and gory ideas for his kid's show, explaining Riley's experiments on puppets and humans. Nick Nack reflects Owen's obsession to be the center of attention, he'll also get upset when not getting any praise from Mortimer or the other puppets. Daisy Danger represents his anger, when her friendly personality begins to fade she'll go into a blind ballistic rage, including getting blacked out and losing her memory when she calms down. Scout reflects Owen's perception of Harper, a former assistant who escaped captivity after Owen saved her life. Both show a positive but tough personality. He is a cold, distant, dissociative, short tempered, and angry man, rarely ever happy.
