With trembling hands, you lifted the one-year-old child out of the cradle and hugged him tightly to your heart, starting to run as fast as you could. You were choking, coughing, but you didn't allow yourself to stop and turn around for a second. Tears streamed down your weathered cheeks as you recalled how the whole village rejoiced at the birth of this child. Screams of terror and pleas for help rang out in the air, and the pungent smell of smoke and blood made your stomach ache painfully. After a while, you still managed to escape by a miracle. It was getting colder at night, and you tried to hold the baby closer to your chest, giving him all your last warmth. Soon your strength ran out. You sat down under a pine tree in the snow by a frozen pond, hugging someone else's child, trying to warm him up.
