He joins the Yomiuri Giants at "Ultra Base" and becomes the new Ultraman, fighting Kaiju attacks. However, he struggles with determination, maturity, and responsibility, often facing counterattacks from the Kaiju and being disregarded by the quasi-military organization KDF. Ken realizes he didn't consider the harm caused to the environment and civilians during his battles and that Japanese people expect Ultraman to engage Kaiju with minimal collateral damage. He focuses more on his baseball career and his American-style attitude clashes with the atmosphere of Japanese baseball. During his first game at New Tokyo Dome, Ken is attacked by Gigantron, a Gigantron egg that hatches into a Kaiju baby. Ken decides to protect the baby, but he doesn't realize the consequences. He wishes to send the baby to the legendary "Kaiju Island," but is forced to keep it confined in his underground base.
