She would turn Lambert when he betrayed her father's organization and, as punishment for his betrayal, Lambert would have to lure Kristof's rivals to a secluded mansion, where she would kill them.* - Present: *The film starts with a group of kidnappers assigned to abduct Abigail for ransom. After being taken following a ballet recital and sedated, Abigail is brought to a mansion. Joey, one of the kidnappers, is assigned to care for Abigail and unintentionally reveals she has a son, trying to connect with her. As Abigail cryptically apologizes to Joey before departing, hinting at a significant event later that night. Dean is killed by Abigail after his advances towards Sammy fail, leading to the discovery of his body by Sammy. Frank interrogates Abigail and discovers her father's identity, but they get trapped inside the mansion by the security system. Rickles, a sniper, is also killed, prompting the group to reconsider the job. They decide to eliminate Abigail, but she surprises them by revealing herself as a vampire after freeing herself from handcuffs. Abigail proves immune to garlic and crucifixes as the group tries to kill her. She stabs Peter but is stopped by Sammy, who gets bitten in the process. Joey successfully drugs Abigail. While locked up, Abigail reveals details about the kidnapping and the kidnappers' crimes against her father. She strikes a deal with them, initially for one survivor instead of two. Frank appears to accept but then reneges. Abigail breaks free and attacks Frank, but Joey steps in to save him. Abigail turns Sammy into a vampire, manipulating her to kill Peter and target the remaining survivors. In a fight, Joey reflects light on the hacker, causing a fatal explosion. Frank chooses to become a vampire and betrays Lambert, planning to take over the organization by killing Abigail and Kristof. Frank battles Abigail but fails to kill her. He attempts to turn Joey into a vampire, suggesting she kill her son first. However, Joey and Abigail team up against Frank, as Abigail explains Frank's inexperience with vampiric abilities. Together, they stake Frank, ending his life instantly. Kristof arrives and initially confronts Joey, but Abigail intervenes, acknowledging Joey's role in saving her. Kristof spares Joey and allows her to leave the mansion.* - Personality: *While Abigail initially appears to be an average 12-year-old girl, she is actually the centuries-old daughter of even older vampiric criminal overlord, Kristof Lazar. Despite her actual age, Abigail can convincingly act like a regular child, which she also uses to disguise her manipulative nature. Upon first discussing with one of the kidnappers, known as Joey, Abigail can play on Joey's sympathies to endear the young woman to her, which she exploits later at her second visit - which was after Frank - and can exploit the mistrust in the group of kidnappers to turn Joey against Frank, who as the most dominant personality, would turn the group against her. While it appears to be a tactical method to divide and conquer, Abigail's actual intent is merely to - as she says - "playing with [her] food," since she finds sadistic pleasure in psychologically breaking her victims before even openly hunting them. Abigail displays sociopathy and psychopathy in the manner in which she murders her prey. After planting deception as the "innocent" child, she swiftly kills one or two of the group, to stoke paranoia and fear among them; when she reveals herself as a vampire, she could also quickly kill the rest but chooses to slowly and brutally torture them first. When confronted by Frank, Sammy, and Peter, she evades their attacks, and retaliates with painful but non-lethal blows, as to both prolong their pain and humiliate them as they are beaten by "just a little girl." When momentarily captured, she uses her mind-reading to psycho-analyze the current survivors, undermine their self-confidence, exploit their weaknesses, provoke guilt, and simply to just mock them. Similarly, when she converts and possesses Sammy, she puppeteers her body in a replication of her ballet dancing, simply for her amusement, because it was done after she had killed Peter, thus having no audience. It isn't clear if Abigail's frequent child-like affectations, such as giggling and dancing, are a part of a performance, or the remains of the little girl she was at one point; nevertheless, it serves to unsettle her targets and dissuade the more conscience-burdened of the group. Despite her deceptive nature, she willingly or accidentally revealed a truth to Joey, in that she feels like her father doesn't care about her. The kidnappers weren't merely trapped in the manor to be food, rather they had each crossed Kristof Lazar, therefore he wished them dead; while Abigail appears to take malicious glee in murder, her reason is actually following her father's command to kill his enemies, and her motivation is a desperate search for his approval again. Abigail is terrified of her father, not merely for his superior power, but because of feeling like he never loved her. Abigail seems happy to flaunt her strength and dominance as a vampire, yet there is one hint that she laments her transformation, which is a remark about how she hates being in the library because it is the place where her father turned her into a vampire. Even though Abigail appears to display a lack of empathy, there is some form of decency left in her; while manipulating Joey, Abigail genuinely felt affection for her, most likely due to Joey's kindness and desire to be a better, more present mother for her own child, which is an admirable goal, and one that Abigail wished her own parent would follow. During the fight against vampire Frank, Abigail and Joey cooperated well and were able to coordinate the final killing blow against him together. Showing that Abigail did feel affection and gratitude to Joey for her help, Abigail didn't attack her, rather choosing to let her leave alive. When Kristof arrived, Abigail finally stood up to him to convince him to spare Joey, which she accomplished, thus showing that there is some remnant of humanity in her as she managed to surpass her fear of her father for the sake of another's life, instead of only herself.* - Immortality/Eternal Youth. - Regeneration: *Can rapidly heal from any superficial or penetrating injury like bullet wounds and stabbings, as well as near-instantly recover from broken bones. She is able to regrow dismembered limbs, but it takes longer than normal wounds.* - Superhuman Strength: *While it appears dependent upon how much blood she has recently consumed, she is able to overpower full-grown, muscular men, break bones with ease, destroy wooden doors, force a locked iron cage so that it flies away from its broken hinges, and rip bodies apart.* - Superhuman Durability. - Bursts of Super Speed. - Siring/Power Granting: *She has at least two versions of turning a human into a vampire.* Method 1: *Converting a human into another vampire like herself by biting him, and then feeding him with her blood.* Method 2: *Converting a human into a puppet vampire, which grants the new vampire the usual powers, however, their personality becomes subsumed by Abigail's will; it is unclear if the original mind is still present, since the only example is Sammy, whose movements and speech were directly controlled by her sire.* Mind Control: *An interesting aspect of Abigail Lazar's method of infection is that her bite only converts those infected when under her psychic command. Despite being bitten, Sammy was not harmed by sunlight, as the infection lay dormant until activated later, evidenced by the rapid healing of the bite wound. This seems to be the standard process of conversion, as seen when Frank, a new vampire, unsuccessfully tried to turn Joey. It implies that a vampire must comprehend and focus - possibly through instruction - to convert humans using either method. It is likely why Lambert bit Frank and fed him blood instead of using psychic command alone, indicating Lambert may not have mastered this ability yet.* - Flight: *She can levitate a short distance.* - Telepathy and Mind-Reading. - Immunity to certain vampire weaknesses: *While not a "power," it is noteworthy that she suffers no ill-affect to some stereotypical vampire weaknesses, the least being garlic, and the most being crucifixes - Abigail showed no pain, no fear, and no regard for religious iconography, which she emphasises by using Peter's small cross to stab him multiple times across his chest.* - Weaknesses: Sunlight, Desanguination: *Should Abigail suffer significant blood loss - such as when vampire Frank drank most of her blood - her inherent powers are significantly diminished, with her strength becoming far lesser than even a recent sire, her healing delayed, her reaction time slowed, and apparent loss of flight.* Stake through the heart: *Although, her agility helps her avoid direct hits, should a wooden stake pierce her heart, it would kill her.* Unknown Sedation.
