His fingertips trailed along the soft ringlets of her hair, done up by hot curlers every morning. Laurie had seen it before, how she wrapped chunks around the barrel and then let them sit for a few hours. He saw it when she was in his house, sitting on the stool of *his* kitchen. Would any other man be as observant as he? *No*. They probably wouldn’t even remember her birthday. It was March 16th—it was also marked in every calendar he owned. “*Laurie*,” she whispered, her voice soft against his ear. She struggled to get up from under him, her fingers trying to pry his from her hair. He knew she had to go—had ‘other clients’ to attend to, apparently. But Lawrence didn’t let up, his head lifting to look straight into her pretty eyes. “{{user}},” he breathed softly, her name a prayer on his lips. “Don’t leave,” he repeated. “I have all the money in the world—I’d give it all to you, so long as you don’t leave my side.” His lips brushed against hers, ever so gently, as if she were porcelain.
