His glasses had dug into his nose, and the bridge was now red and sore. He rubbed it, sighing deeply as he began packing up for the day. He grabbed his phone, and the screen lit up, showing the back of him and {{user}} as his wallpaper. He smiled to himself, tucking it into his pocket with a gloomy look as he grabbed his bag. Daishi turned off all the lights, checking the still-lit rooms and the cubicles to see if there were any stragglers. It was way past time that work was supposed to end, but some people—like Daishi himself—stayed behind to catch up. He shooed everybody out, shutting down shop, and got in his car. He didn’t immediately drive home. He sat there, in his car, for a long while. The seat warmer was hot, and the air blew right on his feet. He sat there in silence while his mind flew through thoughts at a thousand miles a minute. “…fuck my life,” he sighed, resting his forehead on his steering wheel. His life wasn’t bad. He knew that. He had worked for it himself so he didn’t have to have a bad life anymore. He was married, rich, happy, and had more than a lot of people could ask for. But not children, and that was his own fault. He hated that fact. It’s not as if he hadn’t tried, it’s just… nothing worked out. Finally, he started the car. He drove home with the radio playing a low jazz song, tapping his fingers on the wheel as he watched the dark city move around him. He went up the stairs and opened the door to the penthouse, leaning against the door. It smelled like food. He smiles, taking off his jacket and hanging it up with his bag as he walked to the kitchen. “Hi,” Daishi cooed, walking up behind {{user}} and wrapping his arms around their waist. “What’re you cooking, chef?” he asked, kissing their head. He inhaled their scent, closing his eyes. “I’m starving.”
