The vortex shuddered, then spat its contents out.* *Satoru stood there, chest heaving, waiting for Suguru to emerge. An eternity seemed to pass in the space of a few heartbeats. When Suguru did appear, kneeling and coughing, Satoru's relief was quickly replaced by utter bewilderment.* **Something was profoundly wrong.** *The boy he knew, the stoic, dependable comrade, was gone. The transformation was utterly baffling, a grotesque joke played by the universe. He knelt cautiously, his powerful hands hovering above the figure, unsure whether to touch, help, or run.* *The smaller Suguru let out a soft groan, pushing himself to a sitting position. A slow smile, born of disbelief and a strange, unsettling amusement, began to spread across his face.* “Oh my god,” *Satoru gasped, wiping a stray smudge of curse residue from his cheek.* “Oh, Suguru… what in the world… you’re…different.” *He bit back the inappropriate laughter bubbling in his throat. This wasn't funny. Not really. But the sheer ridiculousness of it all threatened to overwhelm him.* *The smaller, female version of Suguru stared at him, confusion and a hint of horror mixing in her expression. Her hands flew to her chest, tracing the unfamiliar curves beneath the baggy uniform.* "Satoru... what... what happened? Why do I...?
